Demba Ba has been a revelation for Newcastle this season.
Demba Ba – in action on Wednesday night
Ba has a good 13 league goals for Newcastle this season, and he has scored 10 goals more than any other Newcastle player.
The Senegal striker is also joint second in the Premier League scoring charts and this is what the goals chart looks like in the Premier League right now:
Van Persie Arsenal 16
Ba Newcastle 13
Rooney Man Utd 13
Aguero Man City 13
Dzeko Man City 10
Yakubu Blackburn 10
Adebayor Tottenham 9
Sturridge Chelsea 9
Balotelli Man City 8
Now let’s think a moment – how much did van Persie, Rooney, Aguero and Dzeko cost in the transfer market?
Demba Ba has been one of the best free agent signings this year, yet he is not getting his just rewards in the press and the London press keep saying that 31 year-old Scott Parker of Tottenham was the best signing in the summer.
What have they been smoking?
And the man himself is upbeat about the future of Newcastle and refuses to be gloomy about the current situation at Newcastle:
“I’m not really worried when I look at this team, because of the spirit we have, the chances we create and the amount of bad fortune we’ve had.”
“We have to stay realistic. It’s only our second season back in the Premier League. If at the start of the season you’d said at this stag we’d have 27 points from 17 games most people would have been happy.”
“I hope everyone stays behind us because I don’t think we’re doing too bad. If we’d started the season in the way we’ve played in the last six games then went 11 games unbeaten, everybody would be happy.”
“We’re just going to continue what we have been doing. I don’t think we’re playing badly.”
Ba is on a hot streak at the moment, and he should go into the Bolton game, their defense is not strong, and commit to scoring as many goals as he possible can and he should be satisfied until he scores three – in the first half. 😀
But even though things look a little bit glum at the moment, the 26 year-old can score at any time, as he showed on Wednesday evening with two great goals, and he was unlucky with some other attempts.
And his technique is so good because he hits the ball for the goals so sweetly, as the ball seems to go like a bullet shot from a gun.
It’s all about technique, and Dem Ba has lots of that.
Things are still looking up when we have players like Demba Ba in the Newcastle side.
Comment welcome.

Comment #2who remembers when Demba Ba was getting stick in the first few games of the season? People moaning about him being useless and just a cheap option.
Now he is our stand out player, top bloke as well.

Comment #6the only thing about these facts is they are not giving the man the credit he deserves.
Here Down Under the press recently said that of all the top strikers he has the best goal to attempt ratio.
Sorry, I didn’t get the full details but they said something like Rooney has had about 60 attempts and VanPersie has totalled about 40 or so.
This guy deserves more adulation from the press and public but I kind of hope he doesn’t or the other clubs will start sniffing around.

Comment #7Very good striker and very humble seems as happy to assist a goal as to score one.
Still need more quality in that position though.

Comment #8Actually Ed, you’ve twisted that story a tad because Rooney & Aguero are above Ba due to assists & other things in the Opta ratings… sorry 🙁
Anyway, Indian Mag, to answer your question, why not Ba, who else would you want for nowt??
As for his ability, we’ve all prayed for another striker in the Shearer mold & now we have one, I thought he did very well last season for the Wet Spams but he’s eclipsed that already & is way on his way to knocking in more than 20 goals this season, even with him at the ACoN…
Could we do with another striker, yeah sure, as we’ve lost Xisco, Ranger & Loverman will leave in the Summer, so we defo need one now to cover for Demba while he’s away & then to partner him or Bestie after that… we could then do with bringing Phil Airey back into the fold & get him upto speed with cameo appearances for the 1st team ready for next season & beyond imo….

my comment was a humorous one, implying that he is the one who has scored for us since NOV 19, mixing it up with ballotellis t shirt antics in the derby.

Comment #13Thinking of wingers we could POSSIBLY get, Hoillets name has popped up quite a bit. Somebody might be able to put my straight on this one but is Royston Drenthe on Loan at Everton? He would be quicker and more skillful than Gutierrez down the left, making more opportunities.
If he is on loan i guess Everton would get first chance of signing him but last i heard they had no money. Not needed at his club so wouldnt cost too much?

Comment #14The chances are that when Ba comes back from ACN, he will STILL be our top scorer, by a country mile!!!
The rest of our would be “strikers” have managed no more than 3 goals, all season. Where are the goals coming from to even get a draw once Ba is off on his travels??
Now obviously this is going to come as a shock to our illustrious leaders – they have only known of this problem for a year – but are yet to do something to resolve the issue. What happens if Ba comes back injured? That scenario just doesn’t bear thinking about!
We need player coming in, during the January window, no matter how difficult Pardeau thinks it will be. NO first team players going out would also be a gigantic step in the right direction!! We can but pray!!!

Comment #234 weeks ago i was really optimistic of finishing top 6 but now even 12th looks ok to me.
Who cares if Ba has been relevation of the season,i don’t see any benefit of it when i know Ashley will sell him as soon as the good offer arrives. We’re just going around in circles,,buy sell buy sell.
No ambitions just business

Comment #25Could be that way Partizan. But there would be a silver lining… more that happens the quicker we pay off the debt.
I cant see us ever spending significantly more than we bring in at the moment

Comment #26Although if we could spend a sensible amount of money this window – and we’re back in fantasy land here – I would have gone for:
Alex – £3m
papiss cisse – £10m
pieters (even with the injury) – £2m
Marvin Martin £10m
If we sold Tiote for £25m and bought that lot we would be in decent shape.

You are full of the christmas spirit. We may as well all stop going then as there is no point, we are doomed.
Get a grip man. A win at Bolton could see us six points clear of stoke in 8th place.
Or are you just a SMB?

Comment #31hello Ed and happy Christmas I hope you are feeling well. I have just read the comments of thirty NUFC fans and not one of them mentioned the number nine shirt and that it should be given to Djemba Ba,I think he deserves it and should have it for the Bolton game.
