Williamson, Cabaye And Ryan Taylor All Start At Bolton

Manager Alan Pardew has made three changes to Newcastle United’s starting line-up  against West Brom last Wednesday.

As expected, Mike Williamson returns to the side for his first start since he started the Carling Cup game at Scunthorpe last August.

And Yohan Cabaye starts again in central midfield, after having served a one-game suspension for getting five yellow cards, and Ryan Taylor comes in for the injured Davide Santon at left back.

Newcastle still start Leon Best up front with Demba Ba, and we have to hope he’ll get  among the goals today.

Haris Vuckic is on the bench after his good display in his Premier League debut last Wednesday.

We have to hope that Williamson shores up the Newcastle defense and that Tiote and Cabaye in central midfield can get a grip of the game, and we could have out first win in seven games.

Howay The Lads!!

Teams:

Bolton: Jaaskelainen, Robinson, Boyata, Knight, Cahill, M Davies, Muamba, Reo-Coker, Petrov, Klasnic, Ngog
Subs: Bogdan, Eagles, Tuncay, K Davies, Ricketts, Pratley, Wheater

Newcastle United (4-4-2): Krul; Simpson,  Williamson,  Coloccini (c),  Taylor;  Obertan,  Cabaye, Tiote, Gutierrez;  Best,  Ba
Substitutes:  Elliot,  Ferguson,  Perch, Vuckic,  Ben Arfa,  Ameobi,  Ameobi

Good to see Williamson back. Not sure about Best in preference to Ben Arfa but hey ho. Ha’way the lads, give us three belated Christmas points.

He does the basics efficiently, but you know how Ba turns a crap cross into a good one, using his strength and agility, well I haven’t seen De Jong do that.

I’d put him on a par with Best, although this kid is only 21. Still don’t see that sparkle – comparing him to his compatriots – more a Dirk Kuyt than a Van Persie.

I’m always a tad disappointed when I don’t see HBAs name appear on the teamsheet. Was to be expected I suppose, AP being a conservative percentages manager, and beiing away at Bolton.

I’m puzzled as to why as well. Obertan hasn’t even had 1 shot on target this season, and he’s tried ample times. Also 2 assists to his name, I believe, 1 being a free-kick won – we’re nearly halfway through the season. He’s an athlete, not a footballer.

my opinion of why HBA at the bench

    1) AP like him as an impact sub either when we are winning or now

    2) AP want to make sure he is 100% fit by not playing him the whole 90 mins

    3) AP saw HBA as a key player when Demba Ba is out for the ACON. HBA behind Leon Best

WTF HBA on the bench again… What about this formation (i konw it’s not going to happen, but anyway):
Our wingers do not produce, pardew like 4-4-2, i have a solution! 😀

    ———————–Krul————

    Simpson–Williamson—Coloccini—R.Taylor

    ————-Cabaye——–Tiote———

    ——-Ben Arfa————–Vukcic——–

    —————Best———Demba———

Best is imnase in the air, he wins very high percentage of air battles.
Ben Afra is geting sharper every time, and in this formation he would have more space to dribble (Right flank, as he tends to do..) and cross the ball to the box, or fire a long shot, so could do Haris. And if Benny is tracinkg right Cabaye takes the center with Tiote behind. Also in Defence Demba Ba could track back, meaning we have 5 midfielders in the centre of the park.

But if AP wants to play two wingers i would like to see this formation (assuming Santon is fit):

    ———————–Krul———

    Santon-Williamson–Colloccini—R.Taylor

    ———————-Tiote——————–

    ————Ben Arfa——-Cabaye——–

    Obertan————-Demba————-Jonas

Hope I’m wrong but i don’t think team selection is good enough to win today.Any defender preferable to Raylor,Haris and Ben Arfar should have played before Best and Obertan.

Quite happy with that lineup. Dissapointed Santon is injured and wouldve liked to see Vuckic in for Obertan and HBA in for Best but we should still pick up 3 points.

Spot on, santon for raylor, HBA for Best and Vuksic for Obertan would have been great.
If the long ball, route 1 hoof ball to best isn’t working, I just hope pardew has the balls to change it in time to save the points this time.

I would play him left back rather than left wing.
