Since Newcastle started off very well over the first 11 games of the season, and had some very good luck, things have gone against us over the last seven games or so.
Luis Suarez – misses game on Friday die to one match ban
But that may just be starting to change with the news today that Liverpool’s star player Luis Suarez, has been suspended for one game and fined £20K and has accepted an FA charge of improper conduct.
The ban is in relation to his one-fingered sign aimed at the home supporters following Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat at Craven Cottage, and he will therefore miss the game on Friday night at Anfield against Newcastle.
Good.
This is the statement the FA put on their web-site today as they announced the one match ban and that Liverpool had also been fined for failing to control their players during the Fulham game, in which Jay Spearing was shown a straight red card:
“Liverpool Football Club have been fined £20,000 by The FA and warned as to their future conduct for failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the league fixture at Fulham on 5 December 2011. “
“The club admitted the charge, which was in relation to the dismissal of Jay Spearing, but did not accept the standard £20,000 penalty for the offence. “
“However, at an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing today, the fine was imposed. “
” Liverpool player Luis Suarez will begin a one match suspension with immediate effect after he admitted an FA charge of improper conduct in relation to the same game.”
“Suarez was also fined £20,000 and warned as to his future conduct following a gesture he made towards the Fulham fans at the end of the fixture.”
Suarez has been banned for eight games by the FA after he was found guilty of misconduct for racially insulting Manchester United’s Patrice Evra during the Liverpool – Manchester United game recently, so he’s managed to get himself into quite a bit of trouble.
But he was initially able to play on Friday night, because he had two weeks to appeal the eight match ban, and could play during that time, but the timing of his one match ban is good for Newcastle.
And the former Newcastle manager – Kenny Dalglish – who was manager of Newcastle from January of 1997 until August of the following year, had compliments for both the Newcastle team and Alan Pardew today:
“I think Newcastle have done very well this season,” “They collected a lot of points early doors, and I know it’s tailed off a wee bit now.”
“But that’s because they probably have had a harder run of fixtures than they did at the start of the season.”
“But they are up there and have done fantastically well.” “They were active in the transfer window and brought a few people in. Demba Ba would obviously be the one who has been the big success.”
“They took a chance on him after he failed a medical at Stoke City. Alan Pardew took that chance which was brave of him and he has been rewarded by that.”
“Ba would be the pick of the signings but they have made some other good signings as well. Tiote has done well and Cabaye, but then I don’t think we are too shabby either.”
We rib Kenny a bit on this site, but he’s really a class act, and his wife of many years does great things for charity.
Back in 2004, Dalglish and his wife Marina founded the charity The Marina Dalglish Appeal to raise money to help treat cancer, and it’s really great they are both doing that, with Marina taking the lead.
We always remember after Kenny was sacked by Newcastle back in 1998, he said it had been an honor to manage Newcastle, and that it was a great club with fantastic supporters, and he’s always been complimentary of the Tyneside club ever since.
Andy Carroll will no doubt be playing on Friday night – the game kicks off at 7:45 pm – so let’s hope the Gateshead lad doesn’t magically find his goalscoring form against his old club Newcastle.
Don’t get us wrong, we want Andy to be a success at Liverpool, and he can still do that, but not on Friday night – please. 😀
Comments welcome.

Comment #1getting back to the no striker bomb shell I wonder if Maiga would have failed his medical if steve taylor didn.t get injured. The whole thing is a bit stinky if you ask me.

Comment #3Looking at the two probable line-ups, this is a very finely poised match. Willo hopefully will curtail Carroll’s aerial threat and I think we’ll smother them in midfield, Adam likes to take too many touches, Gerrard (if he plays) will be rusty and Henderson is plain crap.. Hopefully HBA starts and gets into a rhythm early.
With Ba in the team, I’m always confident.

Comment #6MrToon @ post 1. I might be having a bit of a thick day here, but I don’t see the relevance of the Maiga breakdown and Taylor’s injury at all. Please elaborate.

Comment #8G – After Taylor’s injury the board have decided that we need a defender and so they decided not to spend any money on a striker and instead spend it on a CB.

Don’t know why your on this site..
are you one of Mike Ashley’s lackeys.?
Pardew has said it all with one statement today
“We wont be signing a striker ”
That says to me clearly and without any doubt now, that Ashley is maintaining the club in a state of stagnation
By not signing a striker he might as well be saying to us all .. I don’t want European football , we are not going to challenge the top six…. I will be happy with mid table .
Pardew told us all he was angry on missing out on a striker in the summer and we would defo buy a striker in January….
.We are giving Ashley money to maintain this club in a state of mediocrity .
Going nowhere ..Please sell up Ashley ..I know this is going to happen time and time again ..history proves it , can anyone deny that now .?
Jimmy magpie has it spot on so has Kevin Keegan.

Comment #15Yes, yes, bring on the fools. Not really worried much about this fixture even though ‘pool hasn’t lost at Anfield this campaign but only has 3 wins coupled with 6 draws. A draw is much more likely, even more so with Suarez out. We’ve got a decent chance at taking all 3 points, which would be great considering we’ve get Manure next and they’re in great form.

Comment #17newcastle will sign a striker ,or at some point we are going to lose ba not just in jan but also to an injury thats pretty inevitable it will probs be his knee out for 2 years so if we dont sign a striker its as bad as not signing a centre back ,best and ameobi are alright players but they dont get ya enough goals ,ameobi is also always injured and ba is a bit like that also so if we dont sign one we better have the next carroll sitting in the reserves or it will come back to haunt us ,coz lose ba wheres the goals gonna come from

Comment #19Not to bothered about not getting a striker in jan we battled through we if you if you don’t concede then you only need to score 1 to win a game we need a cb and maybe another full back in jan i have faith that ben arfa n best will be enough of a threat come summer when we can get rid of the likes of smith and mclovern and free up some wages then we will get another

There was never going to be a striker once S Taylor got injured as there was never going to be any extra defensive cover brought in had Maiga signed,I tend to believe the independent world leading expert on knee injuries rather than one of MA’s stooges who seem to pass anybody that is free or cheap fit,we’ve just been fed another load of lies which bills son and co will now come on here and defend.
I watched a good interview with one of the West Ham owners the other day he claims to hasve wiped out 30 million of a 100 million debt in thier short time at the club, thats without any huge transfer fees, about a 25000 home crowd and a relegation thrown in,I wonder how much of that supposed 130 million kind hearted gift loan
that MA has put into us has been cleared or paid back,I wonder how much will be knocked off if we end up with SD shirt sponsors next year and we’re still playing at the SDA.
and Rotunda shut the f*ck up you tool.

Comment #23I,ve an idea that The Striker Artikel is just a cunning Plan to give the impression to other clubs that we are not interested in a Striker till later in the year!
A smokescreen to try and stop other clubs going after our targets in the transfer market.
Of course the gullible of you ( no disrespect ) jump on the story and start moaning and being negative in reaction to such a story!
There could be some truth in it but it might be a load of bollocks too! I for one aint going to panic!

Exactly mate once Saylor went down for the season we werent getting a Striker…just not sure why people are shocked that Pards has now officially said it least we arent getting lied to again. Id rather be told the truth than hearing more lies
Is that true about the West Ham owners? Thats pretty damn impressive good on them they are fans of the club so fair play to them.
As for the strip and club naming rights I think u are correct about how it will go. I notice that the Nike/Virgin money naming deals have gone very quiet

Was really good to see the guy sitting relaxed in his armchair answering all the questions that were put to him, explaining about the debt, the way they were going to try to move the club forward, just a very honest open interview,I wonder if our opinions of MA would change a bit if he was to give a similar interview rather than be seen necking pints and encouraging his lackey to streak naked accross our hallowed turf.

Comment #37I ( and others) have been saying for a long time that our greatest concern was losing one or more of our CBs – Saylor, Colo and Williamson – and that we needed a fourth as back-up. In fact for one game we lost all 3! After that, our next need was for a full-back. Another striker comes a definite 3rd for me and always has because your team is not so exposed and in theory we have others who could contribute goals – Cabaye, Benny, Haris – never mind our other so-called strikers. So I’m hardly in a strop just because we don’t buy an over-priced token striker in the January sales. I’d rather know we got one who’ll add to our squad AFTER the ANC ends. Or should we buy Carroll back for £35 million just to say that we bought a striker and used “that” money?

they are blatently covering there backs incase they dont get one at the right price look what happend in the last window when pardew said we where getting a striker and we did not get one there was talk of boycotts its lowering the fans expectations incase we cant do a deal which has happend a few times now its clear there after value for money and what there saying is we cant gurantee we will get that in january ,mike ashley this mike ashley that give him another season, i think he will have us in that top four next season and i think we will at least finish 6th or 7th this year which to be fair you have got to be happy with.
Another thought is maybe pardew doesnt want a new striker maybe he has set his sights on ben arfa and vucic playing that withdrawn striker role and best ba and ameobi fighting for for the fwd role ,maybe he has set best and ameobi a challange prove your gonna be 1 of 4 strikers next season ,its all man management and phycology for pardew he was reading some yanks book a coach of a basket ball giant who was mega succesfull and he was into all that ya know also its un settling for players with everyone saying new striker please obv that makes ameobi and best feel great then ya wonder why we dont get the best outta them ,so for me its either for 1 or 2 of these reason,s and im very happy with how things are going with the clubs development so i just think people on here should become supporters not morners

Comment #39Earlier we were desperate for another striker but we had one in mind and it was done and dusted in terms of fees. That falling through has left us in an interesting position. Anyone else we go after is going to have their price jacked up because of our “need’. With this statement we can wait and see what is offered to us by agents and make enquiries at our own speed without getting ripped off.
