Cheick Tiote has no plans at all to be leaving Newcastle United any time soon, and certainly not next month.
Cheick Tiote in action at Bolton on Monday
Of course a year ago we heard the very same thing from Andy Carroll, but when Liverpool came in with a silly offer of 35M, he was on his way to Merseyside pretty quickly.
And we expect if a big offer came in for Cheick next month, he would also be on his way, but we think it would take £25M for Newcastle to sell, and we don’t think a bid of that size will come in, unless Chelsea are more desperate than we think.
Tiote is also a potential target of Harry Redknapp’s Tottenham, but they only bid £20M (that’s peanuts) for Carroll last January, so a big bid for Tiote is unlikely.
But of course there’s always Liverpool, who seem to have more money than they have sense.
So we suppose they could come in with a huge bid, but they will now be once bitten, twice shy, after buying Andy for big money last January and the Gateshead lad has only scored 5 goals for them this year.
Indeed Liverpool are after another striker, so they can score more goals, since they have only 21 goals so far this season, four less goals than Newcastle have scored.
Can we hope for another clean sheet for Newcastle on Friday?
Cheick Tiote has talked again about wanting to stay on Tyneside:
“People can say whatever they want to say about me, but I’m a professional footballer, and I play for Newcastle,”
“I’m not thinking of leaving in January – I’m very happy playing for this club.” “That’s my job, and I need to work hard for the team and the club.”
“I have to focus on my job for Newcastle – that’s what I have to do. Whatever’s been said about me isn’t a distraction.”
Tiote looked more like his old self on Monday afternoon at Bolton, as he teamed up against with Cabaye, and they both have been star men for Newcastle this season.
Cheick will be almost match fit now, and we hope for a good display from him at Liverpool, who apparently watched him on Monday and will of course be watching him at Anfield.
If Tiote has a great game on Friday then maybe that will tempt Liverpool to make another stupid offer, like the one they successfully made for Andy Carroll.
Cheick continued:
“I wasn’t playing for a long time, and I’m happy to be back to help the team move forward,”
“It was very difficult for me, because I like to play and do my job. In football, when you get injured, you need to be strong mentally and work hard to come back. That’s what I did.”
“We played as a team, and that’s why we got this result.” “It was a hard game. Bolton don’t have a good position in the league, and they were doing everything to win the game.”
“We stayed strong together and compact as a team. When Ben Arfa came on he did a good job for the team, and scored the first goal. It was a good moment for us.”
“Demba’s job’s a striker – he has to score every game! I’m happy for him and the team also, because everyone did a good job.”
Newcastle will now be full of confidence for our next game at Anfield on Friday night.
If we can manage to win that game we would go up to 6th place in the league, two points above Liverpool.
Here’s hoping.

Comment #84Jack…even if the Maiga deal does come off, will you be ecstatic that we are signing another injury gamble? Ba paid off, Marveaux’s most certainly hasn’t. We have enough money to take more calculated signing risks, but DL and MA just don’t have the club’s best interests at heart.
Just look at this thread, it’s so sad that a lot are clinging on to hope against hope that Ashley will have a “road to Damascus” conversion and realise that we have the potential to really challenge.

Comment #85Sorry to tell you guys but from a reliable source a deal for Tiote has already been agreed with Chelsea! 19million + player ex. Ashley continues too assist strip and as promised by myself at the start of the season i have still not payed £1 to MA and will continue to boycot the stadium until he leaves or shows financial committment.

I hope we don’t sign the lad as he has shown that his attitude is bad, the guy has gone on strike twice to get a move, we don’t want or need anyone who will cause disruption in the dressing room

Comment #89I agree Jack….maybe we should keep LLambias away from the dressing room to, as he has a habit of upsetting players, especially our best one’s who want to sign a contract at a club with ambition.

Agree we can’t trust upstairs FCB and lamearse are economical with the truth as well as the dosh.
I’m all for the Barca model of clubs being owned by the fans – and the Toon fan base would make us more viable than most of the glory hunters whose fans lose interest if they don’t get into the group stages of Champions League etc.,
Here’s hoping anyway..

No bid made for Aly Cissokho from #nufc, despite ‘French reports’. Defender is in the UK but Toon not in yet. Would cost £10m plus I reckon

Comment #99Davo….Pards is maybe just a little bit sick of playing the Patsy?
When he arrived, he had no real credibility or prospects of getting a good managerial job. Now, after weathering storm after storm in the past year, he has garnered the respect of most of the Toon Army by patching a decent side together. I hope he has the balls, if these transfer charades continue, to say is enough is enough and reveal the conditions he is forced to work under by his boss, the Sweatshop owner.

Comment #100I posted this on here a while ago but think it was on the end of an article and a new one came out so no one really saw it but here’s what I said:
a bit off topic but it’s regarding the naming rights. I remember LambArse saying that we had to get a new sponser for the shirt by December at the latest so that puma could get the shirts ready for next season but I haven’t heard anything since. I fear we will have spots direct on our shirts next season which would look tacky as you like…..

you are right he is puppet, but when it comes to to signings incoming or out going, that is the nature of NUFC now. he cannot do anything. learn it live with it
i am happy that he has made things clear. hopefully we can make a defensive signing, a smashing signing

Comment #118Here’s another though (I have a lot of them. Mainly stupid). A very high percentage of people here call Ashley and Llambias liars, Pardew their puppet. So if Pardew says. We aren’t signing a striker. Then that is coming from HMV (his masters voice). So could Ashley be keeping up his record of lying? So that we will be signing a striker?
