An update on my health situation - we have terminated the PluVicto treatment halfway through, because of the severity of the side effects - diarrhea, vomiting, and acid reflux.
And there was no evidence the treatment was having any positive effect in stopping the prostate cancer from spreading in the bones.
There are no treatments left for me to go on.I will go into home hospice care now and will have a hospice nurse visit me at home regularly to ensure I am as comfortable as possible and we will treat the side effects of the treatments I have had.
It's down the final stretch now, and I have run out of treatments, and nature will now take its course.
I hope Newcastle can get many wins this season from now on, and I am at peace with all of this.
Thanks for all your help through the years - it's very much appreciated

Comment #1I know fans are furious but I think Best, Ben Arfa, Vuckic will come good. Ba must be an intimidating presence to the other forwards 🙂

please concentrate on the game man. Bloggers getting worked up and we need to concentrate on the next two games with the squad we have, not what we could have.

Comment #3It’s a good move. Considering Ben Arfas being brought back in also.
Think of it this way. The ACN comes every so often, Ba is not gone for the season. Best/Strolla/Loven can cope as strikers as lone strikers with Vuckic/HBA as supporting roles. Then Ba comes back in Feb all is good. ? Why do we need a striker who has to fight off Best, Benny, Vuckic. Shola, Loven, Ranger?

Comment #10Niffnoff i agree completely if pardew has to stick to budget then i would sooner see a quality cb and a lb build from back everyone was happy with besty last year i honestly reckon he can do a job up top with ben arfa while ba is away

Comment #12I don’t think it really matters, catchy. We wouldn’t have seen him until after ACoN anyway. I doubt he failed a medical though, it just doesn’t make sense.
That said, I’ve never bought into the Maiga hype anyway, there’s much better strikers out there who we could get.

Thats what I was thinking but then again, how many times have we read into something before….
Catchy
It seemed so convenient that a player who has never had anything mentioned about a knee injury fails his medical but we are happy to sign Ba who’s knee was rumoured to explode

Comment #15When we beat manure 5-0 we went on to sell 3 of the goal scorers when they were at the top of their game. Our previous owners always sold our best players

Comment #25Regarding my earlier post, thanks for clarifying guys, that sort of left-field comment threw me earlier, so I didn’t see the conspiracy theorist bit there. Can I just point out that in the Ashley regime, the club have had a habit of saying they will do one thing, then doing something else? Again, a little conspiracy theorist, but don’t be surprised if we do bring in a forward and completely fail to sign an ‘in the bag’ defender. Nowt surprises me with this club any more mind, I expect we might even sign a few midfielders and nowt else!

Comment #26Like pardew said we need a defender if we get a top cb like vertonghen and maybe a cb/fb like onuha we have enough to still would be competetive if ba had got inj or hadn’t played so well first half of the season would people be so concerned about besty covering for him probably not

Yeah but I will firmly believe it was just bad luck this time (HBA came back only to get injured again say with honest Mike, sometimes sh*t just happens)
When Marv played he looked very tidy and not shockingly not rusty so I will keep the faith for a while longer

Comment #30Oh I’m not calling him a crock, WWJBD, but nobody can deny that it’s an injury he’s had before and has caused him problems in the past (see: Shearer with his knee).

Comment #31Well we may have someone lined up but we’re not willing to speak of…
and another thing you have to consider is whether signing a big-name striker will hinder someone in the academy who could potentially be another carroll (as in someone who could sign for a rich team for £35m!) like Adam Campbell. I don’t think it will have escaped people’s attentions that the youth team and the reserve team have performed very well this year. In the long term it may be best to try and build like Arsenal were doing and Barcelona were doing

Comment #32Oh then yeah I agree its blatently the same injury he had before we signed him big shame but just think come summer when we sign our next lot of freebies then Marv will be ‘like a new signing’ haha

Comment #36I can’t believe so many people buy into the MA regime. Are you blind?
We needed a striker last January but sold our best one! We still need a striker but won’t buy one!? So after maiga deal collapsed there was no plan B? Shocking.
It just shows the ambition of NUFC under Ashley, it’ll be a case of 1 in and 1 out again in January. More profit made that we won’t see.

Comment #38I think in the long term this is a good move. Demba will hopefully only miss 4 or 5 matches depending on how well Senegal too and the arrival of another striker would almost certainly signal the end for Ben Arfa at this time. Not to mention we’d have to over pay for another striker as with any signing in january. We managed to get through the first couple of games without Ba scoring, Leon Best getting a couple and i can see Ben Arfa getting a few too. So we should wait till the summer and get the right striker for the right price.
