Haris Vuckic Starts In Place Of Leon Best At Liverpool

There’s a bit of a shock in the team to play Liverpool tonight, with 19 year-old Haris Vuckic coming into the starting line-up.

Vuckic comes in for Leon Best up front, as the only change to the starting line-up from the the team that beat Bolton on Monday, and we have to think that Haris has been impressive in training.

We’ve talked about him possibly being a second striker, because he’s got an eye for goal and at 6’3″, he will be an imposing figure up front.

Ryan Taylor, as expected, continues at left-back, even though Davide Santon is fit again.

Ben Arfa is again on the bench, but he in-from French International will get some playing time some time in the second half – the team looks strong, and the bench looks good too.

Although Dan Gosling is able to play, he is not included on the bench for the game tonight.

For Liverpool there are three former Newcastle players in the starting line up – Andy Carroll, Jose Enrique and Craig Bellamy.

Howay The Lads!!

Teams:

Liverpool (4-4-2): Pepe Reina; Glen Johnson, Martin Skrtel, Daniel Agger, Jose Enrique; Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam, Jay Spearing, Stewart Downing; Craig Bellamy, Andy Carroll
Substitutes: Alexander Doni, Martin Kelly, Jamie Carragher, Jonjo Shelvey, Maxi Rodriguez, Steven Gerrard, Dirk Kuyt

Newcastle United (4-4-1-1): Tim Krul; Danny Simpson, Mike Williamson, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Ryan Taylor; Gabriel Obertan, Cheick Tiote, Yohan Cabaye, Jonas Gutierrez; Haris Vuckic; Demba Ba
Substitutes: Rob Elliot, Davide Santon, James Perch, Hatem Ben Arfa, Sammy Ameobi, Shola Ameobi, Leon Best

Roy Hodgson had a better points return at this point in the season, plus he didn’t have the 100+mil to spend that Dogleash has had

I think it’s almost inevitable that in such a charged match, Tiote will pick up a yellow and get himself banned for the Man U game. I don’t care, if we get the 3pts tonight!

I seriously doubt vuckic will get the time and space against the bindippers that he got against WBA. Id say best would be most affective rough them up a bit, wish saylor was playing to rip a new a**hole into carrol.

5 man midfield is just what we need, spearheaded by Vuckic and a red hot Ba up top.
    The shots will be flying…

Although it says liverpool will be playing 442 I think it will be a more of a 433 formation.

I think we underestimate APs agonising over starting lineups – it’s not indecisiveness he tends to keep things constant.
Want to see HBA and Santon on too at some stage esp if Raylor getting the runaround.

@ dannyo – yeh could be just the combination as long as Vuckic has a good workrate in midlfield

Testing Vuckic out as a 2nd striker before we lose Ba – interesting and brave choice.

Interesting that Arfa is left out again, but I expect a 2nd half cameo on 60 mins.

There is higher risk of injury when you enter during a game so stop saying that pardew he s introducing him back that way that s plain stupid, and we need him as a starter or we gonna see those f long balls for 60 mnt again
