More Talk Of Emmanuel Mayuka Coming To Newcastle Next Month

Newcastle have been linked in the last few days with Young Boys striker Emmanuel Mayuka.

Emmanuel Mayuka – 21 year-old 5’10” striker at BSC Young Boys

The 21 year-old 5’10” striker says that Newcastle are a dream club, and of course he’d love to join Newcastle United – but who wouldn’t? 😀

Whether there’s any truth in this story we don’t know, but we would doubt it.

This is what the former Maccabi Tel Aviv striker said yesterday to Sky Sports News:

“Newcastle is a dream club, like Marseille, because their fans are the best there is,”

“That only shows me I have to work hard and score more goals.

“I’d love to play in a bigger league than the Swiss league.”

In May of last year Mayuka signed a five year contract with Swiss club BSC Young Boys, and this season he has 7 goals in 16 appearances for them, and in total has appeared 71 times with 23 goals for the Swiss club.

Mayuka has made no secret of the fact that he wants to play in a higher class league than the Swiss League, and would love to play in the English Premier League.

He has 22 caps and five goals for Zambia and made his debut in the 2007 COSAFA Cup, scoring the second goal in a 3–0 win over Mozambique, when he was just 17.

We were first linked with this player back in early December,  when his agent Nir Karin told L’Equipe:

“In France, there are three clubs interested in him, though I can’t say anything specific about Lille,”

“I can tell you that Dynamo Kiev, Fulham and Newcastle are the three teams most serious on him this January.”

And then, as we reported at the time,  his agent then  said the following,  so as not to upset his current club or their fans:

“Makuya is very happy at Young Boys, and likes the city of Bern and its people,”

It was interesting after the Liverpool game tonight that Alan Pardew told BBC Sports the club had a number of targets in January, and he talked of several targets.

So maybe Newcastle will try to bring in another striker after all, as well as a center-back, and while we’re not sure how good this lad is, he would probably cost less than £2M, which is in Mike Ashley’s ball-park.

We’d love to see a good center-back and a good striker brought in during the transfer window next month to fortify the side, since we still have a decent chance of finishing in the top eight this season.

Comments welcome.

Reminds me of Lua Lua, he’s a quick, tricky player and is different to the players we currently have at the club

thank you nufc90 (last post) finally sum one who realises time is important 😛

@kingkev o no ur right obertan didnt look good against stoke? or bolton? u say jose etc were in and out and showed glimpses..

well for the 61st time obertan wud be in and out BUT we have no other player that can play RW
otherwise marveux wud start and obertan wud come on 70/75 minute

also I never said obertan was good at crossing what I said was raylor cant cross either (lots of the time) but raylor adds set pieces (which cabaye ben arfa and Ba can all do)
and obertan adds pace and movement he pulls defenders out of postion and he himself looks for space.

I also never said U booed him I said PEOPLE LIKE U (close but not the same) ur negativatiy towards obertan is massive lucky enough ur a keyboard warrior… but other people LIKE u who have so much hate for him do go there and boo him

kingkev9 please learn to read man… I said BY THE SOUND OF IT u expected a win… I didnt state that u DID
and no actually I did first of all think xisco was getting treated a bit unfair by the way he came in… but then I watched him play for the reserves (like barton) and realised that xisco really was bad

(I also realised the barton was much nicer and more polite then the paper wud have u believe)

I know people are defending/chastising Tiote, the facts are he was awesome last year with a lot of downtime with suspensions. This year it is injuries, but the fact remains for me, you can’t give away the ball in the premier league. He has cost us at least 5 goals this season with his dithering. The 1st 20m that comes in take their hands off!

Keyboard warrior? That would be you. I go to the games bonny lad and say what I want to who I want.

I have said it since the Arsenal game that Obertan is sh1t and he is.

Did you watch the Bolton game? He didn’t play well! He made a goal (2nd of season) and had a shot on target (1st of season) but if that is playing well then we are in for a struggle. I’ll grant the Stoke game. His only good performance.

Ryan Taylor offers far more than Obertan, for a start he wants the ball, can control a ball and pass a ball.

tom tomb u cant do that to every player who has a drought or we wudnt have Ba… he played bad for the first 3/4 games yet we kept him on and now look 😛 tiote will be back and to throw him away for 20mil is going to bite us in our backsides… besides if harry redknapp wants 40/50 mil for modric surely we can get 25/30 for tiote

the story started in the Lusaka Times in Zambia.
He’s a cheaper option to Maiga also he doesn’t have the ‘I’ll go on strike to get my move’ attitude that Maiga has shown on numerous times, so there could be a lot of truth in this story

    Newcastle United

On 30th December 2011, it was confirmed that Mayuka had agreed terms with Newcastle United for an undisclosed fee. Mayuka had expressed interest in joining Newcastle after claiming their fans were “the best in the world.” Mayuka will join on January 1st 2012.

@kingkev so ur telling me that u made ur mind up that obertan was sh**te after the arsenal game…

the game where all of our players looked bad/average (other then krul colo and saylor)

that to me sounds like u had already made ur mind up and just looking for excuses to be right

and ur statement I say what I want to who i want… is a statement a keyboard warrior/ a meathead wud make… and actually just sounds stupid…

No I’ll correct you AGAIN toontime!! I have watched him many times for Man U and said before the Arsenal game I didn’t rate him and still don’t! Reason being because he will never do it for NUFC.

I have been proves wrong at times, I believe Pardew has proved me wrong. But I fully believe that I know a good player when I see one and Obertan in my book is not a good footballer

Kingkev9 , they will just go with what they have got you know that. Then sign someone in the summer cheap possibly better. The sense is it pays the bills, it gets the club on an even keel. We may not like it but it is working, getting the debt down. Buy for 3m sell for 25m, if you owned the club what would you do mate? All he tells Carr is get me another, he trusts Carr he is his main empoyee! It’s business, like it or not. I am not an Ashley fan, I can just see how it works with him! Plus Tiote is a liability at times!
