Davide Santon and Shola Ameobi are both starters as Newcastle United entertain Manchester United tonight at St. James’ Park.
We expected Davide Santon to start at left back but it’s a bit of a surprise that Shola gets a start, but he must be playing well in training.
And would you believe it, we had suggested that Ryan Taylor could play on the right wing, and that’s where he will start tonight.
This is what we wrote in our match preview earlier today:
And Ryan Taylor could be a worthwhile right winger for Newcastle, and play in the David Beckham style out there, and he certainly can cross the ball and is great with free kicks of course.
Shola will be up front with Demba Ba and the two of them should form a powerful partnership, and hopefully provide a greater threat than we showed at Anfield on Friday night.
The bench is a strong one in Steve Harper, James Perch, Haris Vuckic, Gabriel Obertan, Hatem Ben Arfa, Sammy Ameobi, Leon Best.
No room there for players like Dan Gosling, Peter Lovenkrands and Alan Smith, and we suspect Danny Guthrie is still not fit.
As expected Lindegaard comes into goal for De Gea who drops to the bench and Carrick, Ferdinand, Rooney, Giggs and Berbatov all start for the Red Devils.
Ferdinand and Jones seem to be the two center-backs.
