Newcastle Fans Dream And Live For Nights Like Last Night

The game last night is what Newcastle fans dream of, and what they live for – it’s as simple as that.

Alan Pardew – orchestrated a fabulous win for Newcastle

Here are some things we took from the game:

  • We don’t know if this is the last game for Demba Ba and Cheick Tiote before they go off to Africa, but they were both simply magnificent last night. Demba Ba scored a great goal, his 15th in the Premier League this season, and he was a constant threat to Rio Ferdinand and the Manchester defense,  and Tiote was back to his very best,  and seemed like a man possessed last night.
They were both simply fantastic for Newcastle
  • Yohan  Cabaye combined well with Tiote to completely  control the central midfield all through the game,  and of course the Frenchman capped off his display with his third goal for Newcastle, and another fantastic effort from a free kick
  • Another clean sheet and it was the 7th of the season, and the third in the last five games which bodes well for the future
  • The new back four of Simpson, Coloccini, Williamson and young Davide Santon played a match to remember,  and they were all simply superb,  with Coloccini the master at the back, but didn’t Davide Santon look some player last night?
  • It’s  a long long time since we’ve seen such an energetic display from any Newcastle side, and they ran their socks off for the cause.  It was a great game for the neutral fan, and a game that will be long be remembered by Newcastle  fans, and we noticed none of the crowd of 52,299 were in any hurry to leave after the game – as they rightly were celebrating with the players
  • It was the first win since September of 2001 against the Red Devils,  and the first win in 19 league games
  • If there was ever a display that will have Mike Ashley support Alan Pardew in the January transfer window it was that of last night
  • Danny Simpson was 25 yesterday, and showed once again that he is still improving and made another fantastic goal line clearance – so Danny – please sign your new contract as soon as possible – and be part of what looks an excellent future for this Newcastle side
  • Newcastle have taken 4 points off Manchester United this season
  • Newcastle now have 33 points from their first 20 league games and are in 7th place, 4 points above 8th placed Stoke City and one point behind Liverpool and only 5 points out of 4th place
  • Alan Pardew did everything right for this game, and he deserves great credit – Alan  picked the right side, and boy, did he have his players ready for this game, and in front of a capacity crowd of 52,299 fans –  it was a night we will all remember for many a long year
  • Newcastle need to ensure they win their next league game at home to QPR (who will be minus Joey Barton) a week on Saturday,  and we could climb higher in the league with another win
  • It was the best performance of the season and the best result of the season – so far
  • And finally, in case I didn’t make this point clear – our lads were simply magnificent last night 😀

Comments welcome.

    Delighted… simply delighted!!

If we can play as good as that in the next 5/6-8/9 games we should be able to put an unbeaten run together that will see us comfortably into at least 7th, which at the start of the season is more than we could have expected.

After that result we need to capitalize on the good mood and get back to wining ways and racking up them points again… who knows we might push liverpool for 6th…. as it stands now ill be absolutely delighted with 7th – a very successful season, and one we can keep building and improving on.

it was an amazing night! I had to tape the game as I was finishing tiling my parents bathroom for them and had to restrain myself (it was quite the task) from just checking the score…just for a second. well worth the wait.

while I am still critical of many things that have been bubbling over since Norwich, I will save my criticism for today, the lads deserve that much

    HTL!

The problem is going to be keeping the spine of the new team into next season. No way Cabaye. Krul, etc won’t be the subject of massive bids from CL sides soon. My point is that it’s very hard to keep half of a top team together – investment this window in a top defender and striker would make a statement to our top players that we really are going places.

davybtoon – A reckon they just saying 20million because we wanted upto 10million per season…

    BTW,
whats the bets the ACON Final is Ivory Coast vrs Senegal? its on the 12th Feb so if that happens they’d miss
Blackburn, QPR, Fulham, Blackburn, Villa, Spurs

i agree, santon was class. again, (im half reminding myself) i’ll save criticisms for another day but he was definitely a plus tonight. every time he’s on the ball he looks like he could do something, and more than anything, more than ba or shola or colo or anyone else in our squad, he looks 100% comfortable and assured, which is refreshing. I think the biggest thing with Santon will be keeping him fit

Ed, i love the way you worded that breakdown of the game, calling colo the master, and tiote a man possessed, they were world class tonight along with many others, no team in the world could have performed as we did tonight against what was on paper a very strong man united side, it was pure love for newcastle united that was shown by the players, proud to have witnessed that from the gallowgate end tonight. This is the first season i’ve been able to afford a season ticket and i’m 19, but i’ve loyally supported since i can remember, and i’ve always wondered what it’s like to witness something monumental to happen at st james park, similar to that of the 4-4 with arsenal, but seeing that tonight lives up with my greatest moments as a newcastle fan, i love the team we have and i really think it’s so close to being our best team in recect history

As someone who was hoping for a draw, I must admit I am over the moon. The group has steel in spirit and didn’t back down, taking it to Man U right out the gate.

Tiote looked like he was in his element frustrating Rooney. Raylor looked solid on the right and our CBs were “nothern rocks”. Shola did what he needed to do (especially on the Ba goal). Simpson was brilliant on the wing and with his clearance off Krul’s line.

I was most impressed with Santon–he looked to be pushing for a third or even fourth goal on the left and his runs were fluid and timely. He looks able to spark some offense and he had at least two crosses that found someone for an opportunity.

Watching live was great–watching the replay will be sweet.

OFF TOPIC-going to order some new kit in the US from the club-can I still get “nothern rock” while supplies last? Anyone?

Absolutely brilliant team performance – fantastic, marvellous, superb !!

I can also tell fans this – we ARE looking to sign a forward and still want Erdinc if he will come – that is straight from the agent I know who is involved with the Toon. AP saying we arent looking for a forward is all part of the game to stop clubs holding us to ransom because Ba is off the the ACM. Doesn’t mean we’ll sign Erdinc or anyone else but we are defo looking to sign if we can get the right player at the right price.

    HWTL – magic night!
