Newcastle Increase Their Bid For West Ham’s James Tomkins

News today on the back of Newcatsle’s fabulous 3-0 win against Manchester United last night that Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has moved quickly to get in a replacement for the injured Steven Taylor.

James Tomkins – Newcastle back in with increased offer

The news today is that Newcastle are back in with an increased £4M bid for the 22 year-old West Ham centre-back James Tomkins.

The Daily Star is reporting this morning that Newcastle have decided to increase their initial offer of £2.5M for the England Under-21 defender.

While Tomkins is playing in the English second division this season, the 6’3″ defender has nevertheless been an impressive figure at the back for Sam Allardyce’s side.

The news is that London club Tottenham Hotspur may also be interested in getting the 10 times capped England U21 player to White Hart Lane, but it appears that Newcastle are in the driving seat.

However, we think this new offer for the youngster may also be turned down by West Ham, as Sam Allardyce had talked only about  a massive offer persuading his club to sell their youngster.

But the superb win of last night against the Red Devils will only help Newcastle’s recruitment drive in January and in the summer too.

James is a very good player, who has played 87 times for the West Ham first team since he made his debut back in 2008.

And he fits perfectly the profile of players Newcastle want to recruit to the club, top young players who can further improve on Tyneside.

And if the Daily Star report is to be believed James has just put in a transfer request.

Wonder if James watched the game last night?

We expect to hear the West Ham response to this offer within a day or two.

Comments welcome.

Its official Ed. We ALREADY had the 4million bid rejected by West Ham. Checkout Soccernet for the official quotes regarding the rejected bid.

Good to know we are going in for him. But the 2 players we missed out on, Neil Taylor and Ashley Williams are proving to be great players at Swansea. Shows the eye Graham Carr has. Arsenal are keen on Neil Taylor. Thankfully we have Santon!

Again last night we see we have now a solid foundation to build on.We don`t need massive outlay on new players just steady investment to keep pushing us forward. The key factor is not losing our best players. All we need now is for Ashley to see it too then we could have a really bright future at toon

get vertongen…& if pardew plans to play 4 4 2 get another winger-striker in (gervinho type), BUT our priority should be extending colo’s contract. THE BEST defender in the league..followed by kompany. if we lose colo we are f****d.

Well done to the lads for last nights performance, what a result, faair play to Pardew he got his tactics spot on..so i apologise for being critical of him yesterday as he was spot on.

how good did Santon look! he was awesome.
shame Ben Arfa didnt come on though i no the tactics wouldnt have suited him but still…great result though.

anyone no much about this Corgnet character?

I think Pardew’s words are very measured as a rule. When he said he reckoned we had our best team out I think he meant the best team to play Man United – and he was proved right. I wouldn’t have picked Shola or Raylor – but the Fenham Eusebio put himself about and Raylor brought some added solidity to the right side. That’s why he’s a manager and I’m not. He also kept feet on the ground earlier in the season when he predicted that we’d have some bad times and the true test of the team was how we responded. Well, after a poor run ofv results and a poor performance against Liverpool (where we always play rubbish) we certainly showed character, discipline and talent last night. What bounebackability! If we can win the next 2 games, the world will look an even more wonderful place.
    PS
Wonder if the guy who said on this blog that he wouldn’t bother watching if HBA wasn’t in the starting line-up actually didn’t?
PPS Anybody know which other Premiership clubs lose major players to ACN?

Also Taylor said the other day he’s setting himself a goal to be ready for final home game.. maybe he’s setting that goal in his heart but knows in his head he wont be ready

As Tsunki says Saylor said on Sky Sports that he would not be back this season which just shows how much is made up by newspaper reporters. Similarly I don’t believe clubs would release details of transfer bids and bid rejections – so I’m pretty sure this so called bid is all speculation and fiction also.

From 1st Feb (once window is shut) I’m gonna make a list from then onwards of every player we’re linked with up until the summer, because it’s a joke how many names get thrown about.

martoon – spot on about the transfer business – we’ll all spend our lives fretting about nowt because we aren’t going to know anything until the window closes. And if I was them I’d do the same after the Carroll saga.

Taylor said on TV last night he will NOT return this season, he will work hard to be ready for pre-season so we need another centre back, we needed one before that anyway.

I cant really think of any decent, proven centre backs in the premier or championship who will be in our price range and who will be available to be honest??? May have to go abroad again.

4 players in Skys “Team of the Week”. Cabaye, Ba, Collo and Santon.
Santon surprised me, that they have taken such a notice of him, yet another amazing buy from the club. We seem to get allot of these. And long may it continue. If we can get 4 more players in the summer of this caliber, then we’ll grab 5th next season at least.
