Newcastle Officials In Paris For PSG’s Mevlut Erding

Interesting news in the Evening Chronicle today as Lee Ryder is reporting that PSG striker Mevlut Erding is back in Newcastle’s sights.

Mevlut Erding – Newcastle back in for Turkish International striker

It’s not surprising that the Paris St Germain Turkish International striker is unsettled with the Ligue 1 side, as PSG will be bringing in new players under new manager Carlo Ancelotti, and it may be hard for the lad to get many games at the Paris-based club.

Erding has made only 9 appearances this season for PSG and scored two goals and last season he scored 9 goals in 34 appearances for the French side.

And the Chronicle is reporting that Newcastle officials are currently in Paris trying to negotiate a deal for the player,  who was one of Newcastle’s top targets in the summer.

Newcastle balked at the fee asked for the player,  and there was also trouble with his agent, and those things prevented him from arriving on Tyneside, although he was Newcastle’s top striker target for a number of months.

Back on July 13th we wrote this about the striker’s agent:

Apparently the situation is that Newcastle have been involved in a bonus row with Mevlut’s agent Pierre Frelot, and Erding himself is still keen to come to Newcastle.

We assume that agent wants some money from Newcastle for fixing up the deal, and the Tyneside club are unwilling to pay that, and of course it was Frelot who last Friday said his client will be staying at Paris Saint-Germain.

Erding played four seasons at Sochaux and scored 25 goals in 84 appearances for them, and he stands 5’11” tall and turns 25 late next month, on February 25th.

He joined PSG from Sochaux in June of 2009 for €9M which is around £7.4M with today’s conversion rate.

He has  played 12 times for Turkey with one goal, and we think he would be an excellent signing for Newcastle, and maybe the club can get a good deal on the striker.

And it seems from the report that Newcastle are negotiating the deal right now – so we hope it will be successful.

And let’s hope if Newcastle are gong to sign Erding, we do it quickly, and this saga doesn’t last too much longer, as it dragged on and on last summer.

This could be good news for Newcastle fans today, but of course we also have to get in a  center-back this month too.

Comments welcome.

I thought he did not want to come here?
I thought Pardew said we weren’t getting a striker?

Much more concerned about our defence at the moment. No 3rd Choice specialist Center back.

Ed, it’s nufcFans original story. They did all the digging and had these news on their website before any other.
They deserve credit for that, as they probably are the only somewhat realiable source we have.
Also, in their article it’s said that the talks are going in a positive direction.

I was thinking about our finances, again. (sorry)
We were going to lose £4 mill this year. The new sponsorship deal is now in on a reported £10 mill a year. We dunno if it’s true, but it’s all we have.
That means we’ll go clear with about £6 mill a year. Also, should someone decide to take the stadium name, which DL said is worth £10 mill a year, we’ll go clear with £16 mill a year.

This is ofc speculative numbers from the press, outside the £4 and £10 mill who’s come from DL himself.

Will buy as a few players and sort the wages at the same time. Good times. (i hope)

Is he too expensive if Simo is not wanting to sign?

Fulham will be a step down for him and I really like him but SanToon on the right and Aly on the left would be unbelievable…

By end of the year we will likely lose Tiote, Cabaye, Krul and Ba.
    Better start spending some $$$

Erdinc would be an ideal signing, still think Erik Pieters from PSV would fit it perfect and move santon to right back and let simpson leave for fulham the kid is hopeless!

    Santon.. Willo.. Collo.. Pieters
    Arfa.. Cab.. Tiote.. Guti
    …. Erdinc.. Baaaa…..

Very average player, would much prefer Giroud/Wilfried Bony etc.. a player who didnt want to come here WHY bother, unlike Cabaye, who has put in 100% effort i doubt Erdinc will do that for the club, i suspect he will be a little lazy and i think another waste of money like Obertan.

we really could do with another ctr forward who can chip in and has genuine pace if youve got two strikers with pace the opposition cannot commit as many men going forward it means more goals for and less conceeded i do like the look of super simmos team at post 5 ooooooooooooohhhh yeah that would do nicely.

This will only Be a Good Signing if Demba Ba Stays at Newcastle United. If not It is Just one in One out again . But why would Demba Ba Leave ??? He will get More Money to stay With us at Newcastle – works well at Newcastle if he moves he will have to do it all again… He Loves The Area Loves The Fans The Fans Love Him… With a New Defender aswell we will be More Than a Force to Be Recconed with.

For a player who doesn’t want to be here it seems an awful lot of effort to try and change his mind!!!

Maybe this has more to do with him not fitting in with the clubs new plans and he needs to find another club or become another “bit-part” player at a mega rich club like Shitty!!!!

No doubt we will soon be hearing how much he really loves NUFC, always wanted to come here, it was all just a big misunderstanding!!!! Will believe it when he’s on the steps at SJP!!!

Erdinc DID want to come – it was his agent (and his club) causing the problems.

Simmo – good solid LB but value – 4 million.

Santon at RB – could be devastating with Ben Arfa on the wing, but we do need some defensive cover when Santon attacks.
Better to leave him with Jonas, building up their understanding.

I posted on here after the Man U game that my agent mate had told me we were still after a striker and that Erdinc was still our top target.

solano will be able to get his archivist to find my post.

toonincheek – Erdinc did NOT want to come in the summer – again straight from my agent mate. He believed he was good enough to fight his way past PSG’s new signings and stay in the first team + no one thought we would do as well as we have. Limited chances, a new manager and our good form have led to a change of mind.

For those fans saying he doesn’t score enough goals – we need a different type of forward. Erdinc is a quick, clever, technical player totally different to what we have. And he still scores goals. I think he would be great alongside Ba and in any event I trust the judgement of Carr and Pardew. If he is their top target (and he always has been) thats good enough for me.

Pardew saying we won’t be buying a striker is purely a smokescreen to stop other clubs thinking we are desperate and asking for riduculous fees with Ba off to the ANC.

simpson has improved a lot this year , but he is still a championship level RB,
he still hoofs the ball at any oppertunity, santon is youngre, and has shown that you can get the ball down and play it out from the back, without launching it,

raylor offers more, but is still not the answer at right back

from what i remember erdinc fell out with his agent over the move, then he said he would fight for his place at PSG,
BUT right now i smell a rat, 2 days ago ba says he would like to join PSG, ( but not right now) PSG are a very rich club right now, i can see a cash plus player deal coming of here, getting a striker they wanted in the summer and cash to, thats right up lame ass’s and cashleys st,

Dyer8, Papiss is the one i would love as a partner for demba. Unstoppable. He would be around 13 million though eh?

I quite like Erdinc by the way, he is quick and runs the channels, we don’t have a player like that at the minute.

Wouldn’t shock me if Erdinc and Ba don’t already know each other well! Similar age, from the same area of paris give or take a mile! You could throw Ben Arfa into that aswell! Erdinc is more a number 9, i think he’d link well with with either Ba or Ben Arfa, people need to realise it’s about signing a player that will fit into the desired style of play and settle with the club quickly! Think Erdinc would be a great signing!

Look Bellamy was never a prolific scorer but he had such a affect for us terrorising defences. It’s not all about stats.

By some accounts Erding is a similar type of player?

We need a pacy terrier up front as an option.

    i agree,

i think most no im not obertans biggest fan, but when he first joined i thought of a bellamy type player, someone with pace and could frighten deffences not scorring many , but making space for others in our team to expliot,, soon had my eyes opened though,

i think the reason obertan runs so fast is so he can run away from his shadow,
