Newcastle have a number of top young players at the club, and if the transfer news of this last week is anything to go by, the club will be bringing in even more top young players before September 1st rolls around.
Mehdi Abeid – could become top player on Tyneside
Two of Newcastle best young 19 year-olds are Slovenian Haris Vuckic and French Algerian Mehdi Abeid, and both have played in the first team over the last few games.
Vuckic started at Liverpool and played the first 65 minutes before being replaced by Ben Arfa in that disappointing 3-1 defeat.
And then on Saturday Abeid started in place of Cheick Tiote, and played particularly well in the second half, before being replaced by Dan Gosling after 86 minutes.
It will be interesting to see if Alan Pardew will bring in the fit-again Danny Guthrie in place of Abeid on Sunday against QPR, since the former Liverpool midfielder has now fully recovered from his groin strain, and of course Danny played great earlier in the season.
Pardew talked about the two top youngsters to the local Newcastle press today:
“They’ve both shown in little cameos going forward that they’re going to be big players for us.” “Haris was a bit nervous at Liverpool in my opinion.”
“Mehdi will learn from Blackburn too.” In the first half, he just got a little bit conservative, and dropped a little bit too deep.”
“In the second half he took his game on, and took himself up against the midfielder players, and we looked better for it.”
“It was better for Hatem, as well.” “Between him and Hatem was probably where our problem was first half.” “But it improved after that.”
The Newcastle manager felt that Mehdi’s more aggressive play in the second half on Saturday helped to bring Ben Arfa more into the game, and the 24 year-old Frenchman had an excellent second half, and scored that glorious individual goal after 70 minutes to tie the scores.
There’s a chance that Mehdi Abeid will get another start on Sunday afternoon against QPR, and he will have learned from what happened last Saturday, and will not play so deep initially.
For the record Haris has appeared 12 times for Newcastle and Mahdi has played a couple of games for the first team.
Newcastle must try to pick up all 3 points against the 4th bottom of the league side on Sunday afternoon, and who knows we could be up to 6th place in the league.

Comment #4Back to Ravel Morrison:
I wish people would stop saying ‘… if Man Utd don’t want him…’
It is a fact that Man Utd don’t want to loose him, despite all his problems. Are you really telling me that Fergie wouldn’t have already binned him the first time he didn’t show up to training if he wasn’t class. The boy is still wanted by United but h/or his agent want’s out.

my brother and nephew are both man u supporters, and really rate this kid, they hope he stays,
to me as much skill as he may have, the problem will be that his agent , knowing that he has skill will tout him as a star, he will get stupid wages, even if its 10g a week, it will go to his head, and his true personality will come out, like ranger 🙁
we dont need that

Comment #10I think Pardew means LITERALLY between Hatem & Mehdi. As in the space in between them.

Comment #11To be fair I think we’d give him a heavily incentive based contract – in term of keeping out of trouble & working hard.

Comment #13Another bid for Ravel turned down? Well I wouldnt want the club to go much higher with their bids tbh. Take it or leave it offer next imo
I get why a lot of people dont want him here but I am all for giving the kid a chance to sort his life out with us.
As for Abied and Vuckic well they are (hopefully) our future but should be slowly brought into our first team. Vuckic is still pretty raw imo I still think a loan move would be best for him. Abied should be hanging around this season then looking to be loaned next for me (loaned to a decent team not lower than mid table championship level)

Comment #16To be fair under SBR we bought – almost exclusively – plenty of problem children!
And it was only under Souness that the problems started to show. Whether or not Pardew can handle them remains to be seen – although I think we all know the answer.

Comment #17Wud agree Catchy a certain cocky Stephen Ireland walked around Manchester as if had world cup and champions league medals, same goes for Bently, wud have to wonder the mentality of these youngers who dont make it at the big clubs are you just taking on someone elses problems.

It’s unreal isn’t it. It’s just impossible to imagine someone given the chance to be a professional football, at Manchester United, and acting out.
I can’t imagine how anyone would not stay completely away from trouble, turn up to training early, leave training late, stay healthy etc…

Comment #19Don’t want another trouble maker in the team. Let him develop his potential elsewhere and may he turn out good. I don’t want him coming to our club and then ruining our team spirit with his tantrums.
And the media hates us. So they might spin everything against us and exagerrate it 100x to disrupt our team. Just like Adel Taraabt, who has so much quality but lacks the attitude to truly develop into a superstar.
Very few players have turn out to be quality with attitude like Ravel. Very few..
