hard to choose which player is the BEST – maybe Guthrie or Santon

but it is EASY to said which player is the WORST – SHOLA AMEOBI THE ONLY PLAYER IN THE WORLD WHO SLIP WITHOUT BEING TACKLE

    Agreed…..

Guthrie, then a toss between Jonas and Santon. Collo had the usual rock solid game again too, hardly gets a mention now because we all expect him to have a 7-8 out of ten game. Class defender, wish he’s sign a new contract. Worrying.

Raylor is always afraid and never going forward. Passing the ball backwards all the time.

Pardews tactics were very poor today. Way too defensive. Taking Best off for Perch at home against a poor QPR side.

ive long liked shola for what he can do but sometimes he just doesnt turn up. today was one of them. i dont know why. despite warwicks anal ranting he didnt hold the ball up well, his touch was lowsey at times and he had zero energy levels from start to 85th minute after which he was over drawn..
for me jonas knicked it over guthrie, who did btw lose the ball/pass it to know one a few times. he was decent. santon was brilliant going forward reminded me of ginola at times but he weas pretty sh it defensively simmo had an indifferent game and i think best just gives up once he gets a goal.. he needs more determination i reckon hes got skillz but no pizzazz

We played the long ball today. Hold-up play is essential in that and that’s why I think shola played well today.

Sometimes tactics aren’t sexy, but they work.

Guthrie, Colo and Guttierez all deserve mentions. Ameobi was shocking, should have started Ben arfa behind Best imo. Seriously hope Cabaye will be ok for fulham, losing him and tiote would be such a massive blow. As for the game, our passing seemed good but we need more shots in – especially ones on target. HWTL.

There should be a new poll…….. Would Shola Ameobi get in any of the other 19 premier league starting line ups, and if so which one? We have achieved some fantastic results this year and played so well. I think Santon was positive all game, Jonas and Guthrie all played well. Ben Arfa showed his class and just makes the opposition panic and draws two/three players towards him.

I must have been to a different match! I thought Ameobi did some great work as a target man – he was being fed half-chance hopeful balls up to him and 8 times out of 10 he held it up, manoeuvred out of trouble and laid it on or back for his own team – stopped the ball just being pumped back. But then I have no prejudice for or against Shola – unlike some on here.
Agree that Guthrie, Colo and Guti played well – but then I don’t think anybody played badly.
Incidentally, anyone else believe that statistics can lie. I thought it was a good team performance and we were well in control for most of the game – not a sparkling win but a good “ground-out” result. Yet the stats would suggest QPR were all over us!!

@North Atlantic Magpie: Dude, you are too critical of the team. On the other hand, I feel that Pardew was spot on with his tactics.. The midfield was awesome today without Cabaye and Tiote. Guthrie and Raylor holding the middle while Best attack from left flank.. Guti and Ben Arfa drifting all over the place making it hard for the defense.. When defending, all players got back to a fixed pattern and that worked very well for us. IMO, we have done very very well without the likes of Cabaye, Tiote and Ba.. Very good holding up of the ball but we have to create more chances up front.. Lastly, Guthrie looked like he was on drug!!! So energetic, hardly lost possession and precision in his pass.. definitely in for a new contract! and hey! it’s 3 points in the bag and we at 6th! on a side note, we have already matched our total clean sheets of the last season in just 21 matches! awesome!

magpie6699@16 stats dont lie. What we are forgetting here is IF we had been playing a quality side , we could easily have been 3 or 4 nil down in the first 10 mins . watch the highlights on MOTD . In the 2nd half they missed at least 2 sitters. apart from the goal which was a gem, what did we do????????.

Did 9 people actually vote for Shola?
    Shakes head in utter disbelief.
Santon for me today with good, solid hard working performances also from Guthrie, Colo and Jonas.
We definitely need another really good striker in this window and if we don’t get (or go for) one it will be a wasted opportunity to really push on this season for a top 6 spot.
I think we JUST about have enough in defence if the Controller wants to limit his expenditure – again!

Didn’t think Shola was awful. But he was miles off his best.

When Santon plays he really shows up how average Simpson is on the other side.

Pardew was outstanding. He changed things around to put Best up top and that was what created the goal. What more do we need other than the win!

We desperately need a CB and striker to bolster the squad.
