There was a report on Sky Sports that Newcastle may miss out on Manchester United’s 18 year-old whiz kid Ravel Morrison.
Ravel Morrison – Roma in with 500K bid
Morrison’s current contract runs out in June, and he could be picked up for a reasonable fee this month, and it’s likely he will leave Manchester United.
The news is that Italian club Roma have come in with a bid of £500K, and that Manchester United are expected to accept that bid, according to Sky Sports.
That’s even though Alex Ferguson’s club rejected a higher offer from Newcastle United within the last week.
The reasoning is that the Manchester club would rather the youngster go to a non Premier League club, and Roma qualifies.
Arsenal and Manchester City were also interested in the youngster, but Ravel has told anybody who would listen that’s he’s not interested in a move to City.
This is what Ravel put on his Twitter account:
“Who ever [sic] keeps sayin don’t move to m.city , m.city have never ones been in my mind and who every tells you I’m movin to the ignore them :)”
We think the translation of that is that he doesn’t want to move to Manchester City.
Morrison turns 19 in exactly two weeks time on February 2nd, and we think he would have been a good buy for Newcastle, because there was very little downside to the move.
While he’s been a problem child at Manchester, if he continued to misbehave on Tyneside he could be transferred, and it’s likely Newcastle would still make a profit on him even in that case, if the lad’s as good as people say he is.
Th upside is he could turn out to be a tip top player, given the natural skills he’s been blessed with.
But it doesn’t seem completely legal that Manchester United can reject a higher fee from Newcastle and sell him to Roma – that seems to be against fair trade doesn’t it?
We’ll see if the lad does move to Rona, but it will be an upheaval if he has to move to Italy to continue his football development, when he could do it on Tyneside alongside world-class players. :D.

Comment #41Who cares nufc786.. Taiwo is a player past his best who’ll be on a massive contract at QPR and in all likelyhood will just assist in their relegation.. Tony Fernandez is getting nervous and is trying to buy his way out of a relegation battle but QPR are naturally a small team way out of their depth at the moment.

Comment #46QPRs spending is unsustainable.. they have one of the smallest grounds in the league, with a small fan base and I imagine a very small revenue, their owner isn’t even particularly rich he’s worth quarter of what Mike Ashley is… I don’t know what he’s trying to do Tony Fernandes but I can only see QPR being as much of a success as his Lotus team are.

It was on NewsNow, i clicked on it thinking what? Another striker!
Then seen that rubbish, it gets hammered on the comments below it.
On another subject
I’m absolutly sick of teams like QPR coming into this league, having money they shouldnt have and buying players they shouldnt be able to afford and paying them ridicuous wages.
QPR are nowhere near as good of a footballing side as Norwich & Swansea but yet could finish above them just because they have MONEY.
They could have a back 4 of:
Taiwo, Onoucha, Alex, Traore.
Ridiculous for a newly promoted team.

Comment #79In my annoyance with QPR, i done some digging on Financial Fair Play rules.
This is a great article explaining it, and I think it’s obvious QPR could easily get in trouble in a couple of years, but we could do quite well…
http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2866/analysis/2011/05/11/2479628/what-is-financial-fair-play-and-how-will-uefa-enforce-it-on
Read it, if you at all bothered.
Interesting that …”Yet only Arsenal of the five highest profile Premier League clubs would comfortably meet the requirements of FFP based on recently published financial results. Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City would all fail”.
God knows what QPR will do with there 17,000 seater.
