Ashley Has Made Significant Contributions To Newcastle’s Success

It was an exciting day last Tuesday when we all found out Newcastle had managed to sign Papiss Cisse from SC Frieburg,  in what what was a whirlwind deal by Newcastle.

Mike Ashley – looks like we were losing in that game

The money paid out for Cisse was the highest since we paid just over £10M for Fab Coloccini in 2008  to Deportivo for the Argentine International, and that has turned out to be a good deal for Newcastle after Fab had a difficult first year when Newcastle were surprisingly relegated.

Now we need to get him signed on a new contract and soon.

The Cisse deal showed that Newcastle will pay big money out to get the required players into the club, when the time is right.

Of  course, concentration on developing youth and trying to find unknown players for small transfer fees will continue, but it’s a good to know Newcastle will still being in established  players,  when it makes sense.

Alan Pardew has said that Mike Ashley is making significant contributions to the success of Newcastle United:

“Ashley has made a significant contribution to the success we have already gained here,” “He perhaps didn’t need to. He could have turned around and said, ‘You are doing great. On you go. Carry on.’ That speaks for itself.”

“He has had a lot of criticism while in charge of this football club. If you put yourself in his position, some of the signings for this club, some of the faith he has put in people has not been repaid.”

“That would make you wary as well. He has had to bear the criticism for most of that.” “In terms of stuff off the pitch and trying to generate new income, it is like all clubs are doing.”

“We all want more income to move the club forward. The Virgin Money shirt sponsorship deal was important. Would this Cissé deal have happened if we had not secured the Virgin Money deal? “

“Derek, Mike and Lee have had to work very hard to give me the funds to secure someone as important as Cissé.”

Mike Ashley doesn’t talk to the fans, and we wish he would do that, but if he keeps up the good work of last summer and in January so far, he doesn’t need to say too much.

What Newcastle fans want to see is a great Newcastle side again, and how we get there is less important than getting there.

Newcastle have a very good squad at the moment, although it’s still too small, and six new players in the summer to replace those who will leave, is what we want to see.

We have a feeling that’s exactly what the club will be doing,  and it should be another exciting season for us when the league kicks off again in August.

I think i’m 100 converted. He’s done so much for this club by being big enough (lol) to get rid of the cliq, get players on lower wages, get us into 6th! and sign some wonderful prospects. And now with this signing its just happy times in newcastle!

Really i think he was unlucky not to get a sponsorship deal for the club, but hes an excelent business man and obviously his aim is to get us into europe so that his Sports Direct brand gets international exposure, once that happens, think of all the money he will have available then?

You know I’m half tempted to think up some chants for Mike Ashley, God forbid!

Good start for tubbs but he needs to keep it up. Still a whole lot of hurt he needs to make up for in my eyes though he seems to have some footballing people around him now who he’ll listen to rather than just his casino mates

As I have said since I have been on here…building a foundation. I actually believe he knows what he is doing as the summer and so far this window have been good. Keep it up MA.

Mike Ashley is a winner. Sports Direct is the proof of that. Yes, he has made mistakes but hands-up who hasn’t when taking on something new. He listened to the football ‘experts’ and talked to the fans on the terraces and then decided to do it his way when things went tits-up.

One of his objectives is to make Newcastle United a self financing club, that will generate sufficient money to fund future purchases and secure existing players on new contracts, without the need to borrow and get into debt.

I am confident that the club will become one of the richest (if not the richest) club in the premiership that will be able to out generate more cash than the other clubs in an era where the EUFA financial fair play rules start to hinder and hamper other clubs who have been used to splashing out fast sums.

Ed – this financial fair play rule seems to be fooling a lot of people. The fact is, it doesn’t come in in it’s entirety until 2017, so 5 years for the major players like Madrid, Barcelona, and our rich clubs, to tell EUFA to stick where the sun don’t shine, or they will form their own breakaway European Super League. In the meantime, the only thing clubs have to do is MAKE AN EFFORT to reduce their debt every year until 2017. Extremely flimsy, unenforceable because of too many kegal loopholes, and it won’t see the light od day – just yet more kite flying by Platini.

I will be over the moon if we get through this window with all our players happy and wanting to push us further up the table.
Pardew wants to tie Collo, Simpson and Guthrie on improved contracts and most significantly Ba when he returns from the ACON.
Looking tike we may have another top class CB in place very soon and it sounds like he is from over the water, my money is on Yanga Mapou Mbiwi who can play across all the defensive positions I think.
We are beginning to look like a well drilled and highly effective team bothon and off the field,
I have supported the Toon for 40 years and l cannot rememberthe club being run in such a professional manner, you know the top clubs are really beginning to worry about us and wondering what the hell we have done to develop so rapidly.
The answer is of course planning and brains and seeing an opportunity in the market and expoit it.
I am also very happy to see the fans are beginning to understand Ashley’s plan and even more importantly he is a fast learner and has finally hit on his magic formula to make us a great club. Mike you are a genius and can at last bring the supporters, united behind your ambitious drive to the very top of English football.

I have had to admit that initially I was all against M.A especially when Denis Wise was at the club, but can see now that our owner was very badly advised as to how a club is run. As underashell so rightly puts it Mr Ashley has now got it right, long may it continue. Reminds me a little of when Keegan sold Andy Cole, there was uproar, then look what happened. I think we are in a similar position as that pivotal point in time 15 years ago, only I think Pardew has the balls to stay the course and see it through to its conclusion. All it needs is a bit of backing in this and the next window and we will be sorted for the next 10 years. This is a critical time in our history M8’s we could be heading for he stars OR mediocrity if it goes wrong.

Will yu fans feel the same way come the end of transfer window and 1/2 of our uns players have been transferred? Get real, Ashley’s made a huge profit on EVERY transfer window since he came here and where’s it gone? Into sports direct! Yuv all got a very short memory when it comes to ALL the millions of sounds he’s made and kept, plus ALL the free advertising he’s gettin for sd and renaming our beloved ground!
I’m afraid he’s got a long way to go yet imo but is heading in right direction.

Get real you whinger MA has made no money whatsoever since he bought this club, he has loaned the club £130 +million at zero interest which means he is losing money every day on that cash.

The club is yet to post a real profit and wanks like you keep coming on here rambling on about how much money he is making.

Wake up and smell the coffee, you should change your name from puretoon to puredrivel as that’s what you are typing. ya tit
