Newcastle Have Been Hit With Injuries For Fulham Test

We were hoping that Yohan Cabaye would be fit for the game tomorrow at Craven Cottage,  but that doesn’t look like being the case.

This Shaun Derry tackle probably keeps Cabaye out of team tomorrow

But the news today is that Yohan is said to be really struggling to be fit for Newcastle United’s important game against Fulham tomorrow afternoon.

Cabaye had to leave the field after 20 minutes last Sunday, after a brutal flying tackle from Shaun Derry of QPR, for which he received a yellow card.

Cabaye has been receiving treatment all week at Newcastle,  and has been trying to get that ankle ready in the swimming pool too, but it looks like he will not even travel to London for tomorrow’s game.

And the other news is that Danny Guthrie is also doubtful with a knock he has picked up.

Alan Pardew  talked to the local press about the injuries today:

“Guthrie has a little knock, but Cabaye is the one we are really struggling with – we have to wait and see.”

“Yohan has been on the bed. He was at the swimming pool so we’ll have to see how it pans out.”

“Guthrie seems OK to talk to, so that’s usually a good sign.”

We’re not sure what that last line means – when Danny is not hopeful does he not talk too much?   Maybe.

Players who could come into central midfield tomorrow include Mehdi Abeid, Dan Gosling, Alan Smith and Haris Vuckic, but we have a  feeling that Abeid could get another start if  Cabaye cannot make it.

What do you think?

Who do you guys think we’ll play in midfield tomorrow, considering Cabaye will very likely be out? I htink it might be:

    Krul
    Simpson–Collo–Williamson–Santon
    R.Taylor–Gosling–Abeid–Jonas
    Best–Ameobi

However hopefully HBA and Guthrie will be in there.

“Management would only allow leave from a major tournament for family reasons which would then see them excluded from the tournament.

“So if Tiote was desperate to sign for Man City, Chelski etc then he “could” sacrifice his place in the national team in order to fulfill his dream, but we ALL know that nobody is desperate to leave the club, so safe to say that the ACON lads will stay and play for their countries, and go back to the clubs in Feb.”

Toon_Tom, what happens when a club send a whole contingent the other way?

Hmm I hope not. Gosling and Abied are both good players I’m happy to have in the squad, but they both need more game time in my opinion. If we start both of them in CM tomorrow then I think Fulham will target that as a weak area and batter us in the centre of the park.

Hope that doesn’t sound like me slating those two, just feel it’s a big ask for them to start together away from home. I really hope Guthrie or Cabaye is fit. We could always start HBA and adapt the formation.

And I’ve just spotted the irony in me stating that they need more game time but not wanting them to play! You know what I mean, coming on as subs, both starting together tomorrow is a big ask I feel. If Guthrie’s fit we could play him in the Tiote roll and sit Gosling, Vuckic and maybe HBA in front.

For those who haven’t seen it here’s the FIFA vid I posted yesterday. You have to love Leon Best, the guys so down to earth and has got some great tricks up his sleeve.

He’s even at it on FIFA. Take a look at this goal I scored with Besty, it’s something you’d just expect him to pull out the bag these days like.

i think that would be allowed i think something along those lines happened at the last euros. i would asume they would have the medical facilities to do all the tests they need. it would be up to the fa/manager of each country if they would allow the disruption. but it may be more disruptive not to allow a player to complete a move

Geordiegesus… Players arent allowed to leave the camp after a certain date, thats why we had to do the deal for cisse so quick because that was the last day players were allowed to leave the senegal camp and he had to be back the day after.

    Agree with Brutoon.

Raylor and Guthrie should be our CMs. Did a great job last week.

If Guthrie is out then I think we should play Abeid in his place.

I am probably the only one in the north east who thinks it, but i wouldn’t mind if Perch played defensive midfield. He looks canny there, and tackles hard.

Hopefully Guthrie is fit so Ben arfa and Jonas could get at them. he might drop shola and play Raylor, so he has a 5 man midfield. That would work with Jonas and HBA given licence to attack.

Either way, if we keep it organised, i can see us coming away with a 1 – 0 or 2-1 win.

Gesus – there is now rules/laws against that tbh however this would have to be approved by all parties ie > the buyer, the seller and the national side, so i cant see this happening esp in a major tournament.

It could happen, but very unlikely, most clubs prefer to carry out ALL medicals on site

Ray Wilkins. The man manages to marry all the qualities a commentator/pundit should NOT have: He’s consistently wrong, unashamedly bias, unbelievably repetitive and has all the charm and charisma of porridge. And he still keeps getting work, the kind of work I’d bet most of us would love to do.

There should be a special award – the arrogant-ignorant-boring-lucky-b@st@rd award. It’s got his name written all over it.
