We were hoping that Yohan Cabaye would be fit for the game tomorrow at Craven Cottage, but that doesn’t look like being the case.
This Shaun Derry tackle probably keeps Cabaye out of team tomorrow
But the news today is that Yohan is said to be really struggling to be fit for Newcastle United’s important game against Fulham tomorrow afternoon.
Cabaye had to leave the field after 20 minutes last Sunday, after a brutal flying tackle from Shaun Derry of QPR, for which he received a yellow card.
Cabaye has been receiving treatment all week at Newcastle, and has been trying to get that ankle ready in the swimming pool too, but it looks like he will not even travel to London for tomorrow’s game.
And the other news is that Danny Guthrie is also doubtful with a knock he has picked up.
Alan Pardew talked to the local press about the injuries today:
“Guthrie has a little knock, but Cabaye is the one we are really struggling with – we have to wait and see.”
“Yohan has been on the bed. He was at the swimming pool so we’ll have to see how it pans out.”
“Guthrie seems OK to talk to, so that’s usually a good sign.”
We’re not sure what that last line means – when Danny is not hopeful does he not talk too much? Maybe.
Players who could come into central midfield tomorrow include Mehdi Abeid, Dan Gosling, Alan Smith and Haris Vuckic, but we have a feeling that Abeid could get another start if Cabaye cannot make it.
What do you think?
