BBC Interview – Pardew Disappointed With Newcastle Collapse

Here’s what Alan Pardew thought of the second half performance this afternoon at Craven Cottage.

Here’s Alan Pardew’s interview with the BBC after the game and Alan says he was disappointed with the seocnd half  collapse and how the team seemed to switch off in that second half.

Tell us about it.

It’s surprising given that Newcastle looked so dominant and much the better side in the first half.

But Pardew and the coaches need to sort out just exactly what happened today, and if they have to watch the video again and again of those last 45 minutes so be it.

But they must try to understand  exactly what happened.

And then never let it happen again.

We look to Newcastle to make up for this defeat with a top performance against Blackburn Rovers a week on Wednesday.

That’s only what the Newcastle fans deserve who had to watch that second half  today – it was so painful to watch.

And we felt sorry for those loyal fans who traveled to London to support the lads this afternoon.

But it’s only one game and hopefully the team will learn from their complete collapse in the second half today.

I reckon the players should apologise to the fans on this one really…. but also the tactics where a bit wrong but still they owe us the fans an apology for that display they want into europe and they give us this….common…man….

I agree with Stuart. Pardew is not the man to take us to the next dimension. Ba’s incredible ability has been the catalyst for our season, aided by some incredible buys courtesy of Mr Carr. Hate to say it but Harry Redknapp would have been a perfect manager for us with our ownership and scouting.

Important we regroup for the game at Brighton ( i think is next game?) we want to wipe this from memory, Hopefully Shola wont play and we will try something a little different formation wise, i like this formation but with our poor attack there is no point.

Yeah, it was really dodgey at the start of the season, but it did seem to be improving a bit recently

In his defence the wind was mucking up his kicks, but yes generally his kicking sucks.

Bad result and we’ll move on from it and play better against Blackburn.

Pluses were definitely HBA’s goal and assist, and his dribbling skills were dazzling. Once the Demba’s return we’ll see better movement and vision from him to his strike team. Jonas looks a better player when he’s in the middle and we should have never changed from the 4-3-3 system.

With Liverpool losing 3-1 against Bolton we’ll still be in sixth. Chelsea also dropped points and to think if Arsenal lose to Man United we really haven’t lost any ground. Lucky to have results go our way when we can play so badly.

Much rather be a NUFC supporter right now than a Liverpool supporter

Tell me you’re kidding? Pardew has taken us to 6th in the Premier League in our 2nd season back.

I worry peoples expectations are getting completely out of proportion here… West Brom came up last season, and their aim is once again to stay in the league

Well that’s a bad guess. Pardew was responsible for signing Ba – Carr even said that in an interview

KRUL 4-kicking was woeful, but was put in too many situations he shouldntv been in

SIMPSON 4- crossing was crap, bad game
WILLO 4 – beaten too many times by dempseys and johnsons pace
COLO 4- unusual bad game, also beaten by pace
SANTON 3- attacks came down the right all the time, was lucky to be on the pitch

BEN ARFA-5 looked good in parts, bad in others. 1 goal and assist, left Simpson by himself , at least he tried to win the ball back

GUTHRIE 5- passing wasn’t up to scratch today overan in 2nd half, good goal though

CABAYE 4- went missing at times, probably bcos he sat deep a lot

GUTIERREZ 5- plays much better in a free roaming role, just opens up our defence

Best 4 – invisible and ineffective
SHOLA 2- worst striker to play for nufc, very lazy, can’t even do what he’s supposed to.

OVERALL – 1st we were great, we trapped them in there half, if we had better strikers we would’ve been out of sight at HT,
2nd was the worst if seen us play this season

What about G’Uivarch, Andersson, Maric, Luque, Xisco and many many many others. Ameobi didn’t play well, and according to your ratings nor did any other Nufc player. Just like Carroll we have to play to his abilities, and today wasn’t his best game, granted, but he is and always has been a squad player, when called upon he can have a good game and change it for us like he did against Tottenham. Once the Demba’s are back he’ll be restored back to the bench where he has a better impact as a player coming on as a sub.

SuperMag – from last post –
Super Mag – agree in mot part to the player ratings but not Willo/Colo – they were hopelessly cast adrift by a shoddy high line and a midfield that couldn’t keep possession. HBA was under undue pressure because our forwards were virtually no-show which released defenders to dampen HBA down – the fact he still managed to do two or three players and still score in a game like that shows what he could do with the right support crew.

Indian Mag – how long is it that you have noticed Krul’s kicking is a bit iffy? Why didn’t you tell us?????? lol

He’s our 4th striker – he shouldn’t ever even get a game really. So I see your point. I think most would rather we had a youngster in and around the squad – although with Airey out on loan I’m not sure who we’d use :/

    @ wor shearer,

I meant I’m happier knowing we lost 5-2 and being in sixth place than the Liverpool fans will be losing to Bolton 3-1 and still behind us in Seventh. Small consolation after todays terrible result. But, I believe Pardew will get the troops roaring again in the cup and against Blackburn.

Maybe it’s good we got a battering. I don’t like Pardew talking about Europe and CL football and the England job until we’ve got there.

As soon as Pardew lets the players think that they don’t need to give absolutely everything in every game, then we’ll stop grinding out results.

There’s only been 1 game this entire season that we’ve won comfortably, and that was the Manchester United game. Maybe Blackburn @ St James’ early on as well. We’re not as good as we seem to think we are.

Your right they were outdone by playing a high line, it dosent work away IMO, it just invites the opposition to put plenty through balls behind, it worked in the 1st half,Zamora was offside 5 times I think in the 2nd andy Johnson knew he could outrun our cb so he could just stay that extra half yard behind , in the end we paid for it
