Yohan Cabaye And Ben Arfa Both Start For Magpies

Yohan Cabaye starts this afternoon in central midfield  and Hatem Ben Arfa also gets a start today out on the right wing at Craven Cottage,  in the important game against Fulham.

Ben Arfa comes in for Ryan Taylor, and it seems that Yohan Cabaye is indeed fit after sustaining an ankle injury last Sunday in the 1-0 win over QPR.

It had looked like  Yohan Cabaye had been ruled out yesterday, as Alan Pardew had said the French International was really struggling to make the game, but that was probably a little gamesmanship from the Newcastle manager.

So there is only one change from the side that stared against QPR,  and Ben Arfa is rewarded for his hard work last Sunday, but it’s pity that Ryan Taylor doesn’t also start this afternoon, because he is also a goal threat for Newcastle.

We have to hope that Leon Best and Shola Ameobi are among the goals this afternoon.

For Fulham,  former Newcastle players Damien Duff starts and Aaron Hughes is on the bench and Bryan Ruiz, whom Newcastle went after back on August 31st before he signed for Fulham,   also starts for the Cottagers.

Howay The Lads!!

Teams:

Fulham (4-3-3): David Stockdale; Stephen Kelly, Brede Hangeland, Philippe Senderos, John Arne Riise; Steve Sidwell, Danny Murphy (c), Clint Dempsey; Damien Duff, Bobby Zamora, Bryan Ruiz
Substitutes: Neil Etheridge, Matthew Briggs, Chris Baird, Aaron Hughes, Kerim Frei, Marcel Gecov, Andrew Johnson

Newcastle United (4-4-2): Tim Krul; Danny Simpson, Mike Williamson, Fabricio Coloccini, Davide Santon; Hatem Ben Arfa, Yohan Cabaye, Danny Guthrie, Jonas Gutierrez; Leon Best, Shola Ameobi
Substitutes: Rob Elliot, Shane Ferguson, James Perch, Ryan Taylor, Dan Gosling, Gabriel Obertan, Peter Lovenkrands

You’d think that the Demba’s could play for us. Then nip back to Africa for their game tonight. 🙂

seems strange, doesn’t it? Gosling’s proved more of a liability than anything else.

Very strong midfield there. Guthrie and Cabaye in the engine room. Both with brilliant distributions. Arfa is there! yay!

3 points is very much possible now!

Wonder if we play a little bit narrow with Benny in behind the front two, not a true winger, we shall see i suppose, Jonas and Benny with a license to roam, team would be good if Demba and Cisse were up top, looking forward to it next month, hope shola and leon are inspired.

anyone else find the Torres loss of form thing just bizarre?? How can he go from being arguably the best player in the premier league to truly awful in a matter of a couple of years…just dont get it. i wonder if somethings happened in his personal life thats just made him not care anymore or something….something up there anyway, wierd

Dont see the point of lovenkrands on bench, might as well have a prospect there, Vuckic or Abeid, Obertan could be used up front if needed, and fergy should be in front of the old timer. Hate seeing people who arnt the future of the club still involved, nit picking a bit i know, good first eleven though.

Good line up. Happy to see the dreamboat is healthy. Seems Pardew has seen the folly in starting Raylor on the right. My worry with this line up is Ameobi. He’s lazy and as he needs a goal desperately, he’ll probably be quite selfish today. Hopefully Best can get one for us. Good luck to my boy H.B.A. HTL

robee he is playin in a completely different setup in Chelsea. At liverpool when they had the ball they broke with pace and directness, then quick final through ball to Torres and he could easily outpace the final defender and score. Watch him at Chelsea, Torres has to come so deep, and when Chelsea get the ball they never do fast 1-2s like an Arsenal, they just pass it sideways and continue to probe. Feel abit sorry for Torres.

Think Torres is a confidence player and enjoys being the man, only played at Athletico Madrid and say 18months at liverpool, he has had no form for some time, lost his yard of pace that made a difference, like most strikers when they hit 25/26. He is a shadow of the striker who liverpool signed.

Torres loss of form is loss of confidence in his own ability..he fully believed all the hype and it made him believe he could do anything, and he had every reason to do he so he was amazing. He also never came back the same after the injury he got pre-world cup..

Now he has lost his confidence he has lost everything it seems…he will be back though…
Same as Big Andy at the scousers..

Think Oberloon and Fergy could provide impact from bench, also Gosling gets into the box and has an eye for goal, so its not all bad.
