There’s a report in the Daily Mirror that Newcastle are after Dutch international winger Eljero Elia on loan.
Dutch International winger Eljero Elia
The 26 times capped Dutch International only joined Juventus from Hamburg last summer, but has only played three times for the Italian club.
Italy doesn’t seem to have suited the winger too much, and we suppose Newcastle are trying to get him on loan with a view to possibly signing him permanently in the summer.
And of course the 5’10” winger could also help Newcastle’s drive to qualify for Europe this season.
The 24 year-old is unhappy at not getting any playing time in Italy, and it seems there is a good chance the loan move will be completed.
The player started his career at Den Haag back in 2004, before moving to FC Twente in the summer of 2007.
He played 59 times for Den Haag with 6 goals and 3 assists and was at Twente for two seasons, where he played 73 times with 15 goals and 6 assists.
Elia spent two seasons at Hamburg before joining Juventus last summer, and he played for the Bundesliga side 63 times with 8 goals and 11 assists.
Elia made his debut for Holland in September of 2009 against Japan in a friendly match, when he came on at half-time replacing Bayern Munich’s Arjen Robben.
He was named Dutch Football Talent of the Year in 2009.
Eljero Elia could do a job for Newcastle through the end of the season, if we can get him in.
Here’s hoping.

Comment #161Up the road wasnt hee! The day Cisse signed it was in 3 or 4 papers saying ‘O’Neil steps up chase for Cisse’
Erdinc just joined Renne azwells, he turned down the Mackems on loan too haha.
Maybe they were never in for Cisee, maybe they were. Its just another wind up isnt it!

Comment #162Yeah if Newcastle were interested in Cissokho we would try to push through the deal if another party became interested. A’la Cisse and the Mackems
Newcastle’s biggest bonus in the market is cash up front.
Juventus may want to pay X amount but it will be in installments and add ons and performance related clauses
If Newcastle want this player they will gt him in my opinion.

You would have to watch at least 14/15 games of football a week to come up with some of the knowledge of obscure Sebian left backs playing in the Belgian league that some people on here suggest we sign, and if you did watch that many games how would you find time to blog in between playing Football manager and drinking n that.

Hahaha. You MUST be joking.
@Beattie25
Yesss cash upfront, Llambias said we are no longer paying for players who we had years ago too, which is much better.
Anyway I’m off!!!

But isn’t that the same as most fickle football fans? Think they know better than the manager because they got MK Dons to the Premiership on Football Manager?

Comment #173Thank God are African Geordies are coming home early. We just need to win our cup draw and take something off Blackburn and then we have a legitimate shot at Europe. Thank God the toon is back to where it belongs. 2nd highest attendance I’n England when we were I’n the 2nd tier. If that’s not a big club I don’t know what is. We have more support and bigger stadium then so called big clubs spuds, stoke, everton, etc….

Comment #175This guy is quality, but I think we would only be able to get him on loan. In a way, we would be putting him in the shop window for some of the bigger clubs. He would be at least 10-15million, I dont think we would splash that cash for him. If he manages to get us into Europe then…..
Would love it if we managed to get Samba, that guy is a beast, would definitely take our team to the next level. Please dont sign Mariappa though, not even worth contemplating

Comment #181Just wondering if anyone has seen this from ESPN:
Some rumours were talking about Man Utd rebel Ravel Morrison arriving at Newcastle ahead of a £4 million move. However, it appears he’s in Tenerife with the United squad for a summer training camp, so that’s probably rubbish.
Question? Is ManU in Tenerife too??

Comment #182Saw our Senegal duo last night. Was IMPOSSIBLE for them to play as the game looked more like a water polo game. Cisse had one good moment and that’s it. Hope King Ba comes back with the form he took with him.

BURNLEY have staved off January interest in Jay Rodriguez from Newcastle United, but there are fears they will lose the striker in the summer.
Anyone know anything about this lad?

Comment #187I think the fact that AP watched a Burnley and Middlesbrough game a few weeks ago, i having us linked with plenty of Clarets and Boro players.
Someone also said we very linked with Matthew Bates.
The only thing I know about Jay Rodriguez is that this is his first good season.

Comment #189Ah the dignity of footballers – I remember Onuoha declaring that he would never sign for the toon whilst Barton was at the club – maybe his agent forgot to tell him something whilst he brokered the deal to QPR?

Comment #190I see what you mean – i dont think the Mancs are training in Tenerife!!!!
So yes, confusing story – however i have heard that the talks broke down due to Pardew not being interested in the lad

Comment #192We’ll see if we get that CB imo, we want value for money and won’t just bring in bodies.
Going the hard line once again could hurt us in the short term, but will probably be benficial in the long term.
We need that CB cover tho.

In my opinion, I think the club should go for a young prospect/backup. We don’t have that much talent in our defense and I’m afraid that we’re going to be taking to the cleaners if we try to go for just a backup – or worse we won’t sign any at all 🙁

Comment #195Senegal is playing their last game against Libya on January 29 – so in theory both Ba and Papisto could be back on January 30, right?
And we’re playing Blackburn on February 1; that should be in time for Ba and Papisto to be involved, right?

Comment #196If we dont get a CB very soon the excitement of a new striker will be wiped.out and I think it will have a very negative effect on the squad, with everybody on edge dreading an injury to either Collo or Willo.

Comment #197So just to check, this winger that everyone says is mustard.
Has only 20 assists in 195 games.
If you think obertan is frustrating this guy would do your head in.
