Newcastle Nice And Stable Now And A Lot More Relaxed

1:42 pm, Wednesday, January 25th, 2012 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 503 Comments

Ryan Taylor has revealed that things are a lot more stable at the Newcastle club.

Ryan Taylor – after scoring stunning winner at Sunderland

It seems ever since Alan Pardew arrived he has stamped his authority on the team and the club in a very positive way, and certainly the players seem right behind what he’s trying to do.

Add to that the very important fact that Newcastle have had their best season so far for many a long year, and things continue to look up on Tyneside.

Ryan has said the players are not particularly surprised at being in 6th position in the league:

“There’s only the big five clubs above us. Saying that we’re sixth but not surprised. We’ve had a great season and we’ve got some great players.”

“The club’s nice and stable now, so it’s going well. When people say ‘surprised’, no one is surprised because we know we’ve got some good players here.”

“We’re all excited to start working with Cisse and to see what he’s got for us. I know he’s obviously a big team member of Demba Ba.”

Newcastle had a hiccup on Saturday in that second half  at Fulham, but it’s important not to over-react to that too much, and generally Newcastle have performed just great this season.

One of their best ever wins over Manchester United by 3-0 just three weeks ago at St. James’ Park is testament to that.

Ryan Taylor golfing yesterday  in Tenerife with Steve Stone

The lads are keeping their firmly on the ground but would like to get to that 40 points mark as soon as possible, and Ryan is full of praise for the Newcastle manager, and the place is much more relaxed these days:

“It’s not just to get to 40, it’s to try to reach it as early as possible and to do it, you know, coming towards the end of January, that’ll be a massive bonus for us because then we can just kick on and enjoy the last half of the season.”

“Alan Pardew just come in with his own plans, his own staff, and he’s brought a number of players in who are completely different characters to what we already had here.”

“And to be honest, the place now just seems a lot more relaxed and it helps you for when you’ve got a game on the weekend.”

Alan Pardew has a chance to see out his contract at Newcastle, which still has another four and a half years to run, and we’d like him to stay over that period.

One reason for that is that he will have been very successful, and certainly so far Newcastle and Alan Pardew seem to have been match made in heaven.

Long may it continue.

Those concerned over Ben Arfa being missing in the Tenerife photos i can clear this up…

Hatem is a keen photographer, ideally he loves to snap passing trains but out in Tenerife he has been handed the most unlikely of situations where he can let flourish his real talent.

So, yes! He is there… but he’s behind the camera! Remember 2+2=84

  • 4 bambams // Jan 25, 2012 at 1:49 PM

Massive game at the weekend, hope this break has gelled the players and it does the trick

  • 5 eastend toon // Jan 25, 2012 at 1:52 PM

ditto tendo… how can you doubt the mans steel-like conviction!

as we all know, anything that does happen in transfer windows from now on, we will know nothing about most likely… great for players coming in.. not so great for possible departures. lets just hope we keep our cards close to our chest for bringing a player in… but if one of the lads is set to leave then lets advertise it to the world and rack up his price… surely that is the MA business model after all!

HBA to stay, yeah, i’m pretty confident on it too to be fair… would be a massive curve ball if it did happen

squeaky bum time is about to start as the window slowly begins to close… and that applies to both incoming CB’s and any players going

  • 6 ToonDownSouth // Jan 25, 2012 at 1:55 PM

If we don’t sign a CB we’d almost be throwing away out chance of 7th/8th place. One injury or suspension to a CB and we’re done for.

  • 7 WWJBD // Jan 25, 2012 at 1:56 PM

So HBA is leaving now is he? To which club exactly? Oh and Zaha is his replacement?

Interesting thoughts based on a few photos that he doesn’t appear in, maybe he was in France sorting out lawyers and accounts ready for being sued….maybe he believes cameras steal a part of ur soul….maybe he couldnt be bothered to pose…who knows!

  • 8 -Tendo- // Jan 25, 2012 at 1:59 PM

the only time i could see beeny leaving is next january, and if he is still being used as an imapct sub by them….who could balme him?

  • 9 Rotonda heights // Jan 25, 2012 at 2:01 PM

    Ed

Talk about tempting fate with a headline like that. before you said we were lucky we hadn’t had any injuries, cue Tiote, saylor etc etc !!

  • 10 Barras // Jan 25, 2012 at 2:01 PM

    @WWJBD

I suggested this possibility, based on a very un-informative tweet.

    SkyGraemeBailey Graeme Bailey

@lee_ryder Ben Arfa to miss training camp because of draw, which took place on Sunday night? Really?

And then I considered recent reports linking Zaha to Newcastle United. Of course, I don’t think it will happen but it is a possibility. I hope it does not happen, Hatem Ben Arfa is one of my favourite players.

Well shame on u for setting this fuse alight haha

Look I don’t know where he was, maybe he is carrying a knock and we are covering it up as much as possible.

But if he goes he goes, am not too bothered tbh he isn’t exactly Messi and although am warming to him am not sold on him being our ‘star’

Ahem to wade back in here before we sold Carroll he was the future of the England squad, the player the squad would be built around for years to come and the player to take us into international glory….can that not be called world class?

Aye it hasen’t happened but it was touted about and people believed it

zaha is no better than sameobi?

that’s a load if i’ve ever heard one

sameobie has a LONG way to go before he comes into our first team, much less anyone else’s. I’d say he’s probably at about league 1 standard at best right now. not saying he want blossom from here, but he needs to add alot to his game before we start saying he’s better than an established championship player who the PL’s big boys are after

  • 51 geoff777 // Jan 25, 2012 at 3:26 PM

yeah, rotonda, because you read it off newcastlerumours does not make it credible, much less repeating it on here verbatim making it seem it has the credibility it doesn’t warrant

hope it’s true, but i’ll trust when it actually DOES come from “sky sources” (ie sky sports).

  • 54 FabColo // Jan 25, 2012 at 3:29 PM

It says about ben arfa on an article on the chronicle:

“Meanwhile, United star Hatem Ben Arfa was given permission not to attend this week’s training camp in Tenerife.

The player was invited by the French FA to make the draw for the last 16 of the French Cup.

But Ben Arfa is expected to link up with United again tomorrow.”

  • 55 mattyNUFC // Jan 25, 2012 at 3:29 PM

    hatem

agreed. there is no questioning it….not to mention he crocked for the rest of the season.

  • 56 geoff777 // Jan 25, 2012 at 3:32 PM

    @WWJBD

    Quite right.

Most of us thought he was going to be a prolific goal scoring No9 for NUFC and England.
That’s why we were gutted he left, even for 35M.

On this years form he isn’t worth that.
Personally I still think he could be amazing, bu just now something isn’t quite right, but if it comes together he could score 25+ in a season.

  • 57 RobertNufc25 // Jan 25, 2012 at 3:34 PM

the day andy carroll scores 25 goals a season, well…

well i couldn’t think of anything to say or do that would be as preposterous a notion as andy carroll scoring 25 goals in a season. i bet he’ll struggle to get 25 in his anfield career, and i’ll be laughing every day :)

  • 59 Wandering Geordie // Jan 25, 2012 at 3:38 PM

Mancs are going to buy Clyne from Palace £3 m

  • 60 Ldntoon // Jan 25, 2012 at 3:41 PM

I think we will end up getting Morrison, probably only because MA will want to sell him on for more, can’t be a bad thing if hes as good as everyone says he is. And surely his attitude/off pitch stuff cant be worse than ballotellis and city paid 24m for him!

  • 61 Jail for Ashley // Jan 25, 2012 at 3:44 PM

    Matty,
Its a matter of opinion how as a fan you feel toward the Carroll sale, but since I will never know the circumstances of his leaving and the fact that he was on his way to becoming a local legend,I am not going to take any pleasure at his current plight, saying that though I dont wish him any success at Anfield either.

  • 62 mattyNUFC // Jan 25, 2012 at 3:46 PM

    JfA

fair enough but if i’m perfectly honest i’m pretty tired of muddling through every single post and every single post has someone mentioning his return, or that they hope he returns.

the bottom line (imo) is that carroll’s skill will never again be able match our ambition

  • 63 RobertNufc25 // Jan 25, 2012 at 3:50 PM

I would love Carroll to come back for peanuts & then start banging the goals in for us again.

Now that would make the scousers really mad… Haha

  • 64 WWJBD // Jan 25, 2012 at 3:55 PM

We all have different feelings towards players who have left, many would have Martins back whereas I wouldnt for example. Fact of the matter its a personal thing.

On a far more important note is there any substance to these Morrison rumours? Has sky actually mentioned it or is that bull crap?

Piling on the pounds. Apparently. Although he still looks like his legs will snap if he puts weight on them.

Basically Pardew told him at the start of the season that we wanted him to bulk up and improve his fitness levels as well. He said that towards the end of games he’d constantly cramp up and get niggling injuries.

Seeing as Pardew appears to have decided that he’s a left back now, maybe he’s our left back (or left back cover, depending on Simpson) for next season.

Apparently the improved offer for Ravel Morrison is said to be in the region of 4million…does anyone think that this is a ludicrous fee to be paying for a player that has never played first team football and whose head is so far up their own @rse that it is breaking through his neck again?

  • 114 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Jan 25, 2012 at 5:55 PM

I mean first team football on a regular basis, even Michael Owen gets some games for Manure in the League cup :P

  • 115 G // Jan 25, 2012 at 5:57 PM

Well, according to wiki he has played in 1 game in LC last season, and 2 this season. I agree that £4M is a lot for a lad with his reputation and not long on his contract. If it came down to your points above though, I would rather sign Ravel Morrison than Greedy Micky Owen.

  • 116 toonarmydownsouth // Jan 25, 2012 at 6:00 PM

£4mil!! Fu ck SAF ya tight b@stard!!!!!! Thats like asking £10million for sammyobi!!!!

  • 117 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Jan 25, 2012 at 6:02 PM

Well if we were paying for his potential then I would say 4mill and say 20k a week would be reasonable, but it is tough to justify 4mill when he has done nothing of note except getting in trouble with the law.

  • 118 toonarmydownsouth // Jan 25, 2012 at 6:05 PM

Ruddy maybe its only a transfer fee of 750k but we have to take on his legal fees!

  • 119 Beattie25 // Jan 25, 2012 at 6:08 PM

$4 mill is a bargain if you consider the cost of other teenagers that have turned out to be sensational.

Bale cost £10 mill but if we signed him a few years ago you would have all be moaning

  • 120 spitfire_ // Jan 25, 2012 at 6:25 PM

    @ Beattie25

I agree but not anyone can becomes Bale… Besides this Morrison obviously is a problem child and Pardew can’t even handle with Ranger who also has the same issues… It’s to risky.

  • 121 seantoon // Jan 25, 2012 at 6:25 PM

I don’t think £4mill is too much for Morrison. I’ve seem the kid play he’s got a massive future. He just needs someone to take him under there wing and get him to knuckle down which I think AP could do. It’s not even a gamble taking him because whatever happens we will get our £4mill back for him no problem. There’s a reason why barca and other big teams are supposably in for him

  • 130 seantoon // Jan 25, 2012 at 6:39 PM

Maybe pardew doesn’t see the point in handling ranger and would rather just leave him to rot. I mean come on you can compare Morrison to Ranger. Ranger is hardly going to end up a deadly premiership striker is he? Where as Morrison has the potential to be one of the best

  • 131 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Jan 25, 2012 at 6:39 PM

4 million for a totally unproven teenager with a chequered record with law breaking is not a bargain. Bale played first team football for Southampton so he proved himself to a degree, there can be no comparison between the two.

  • 132 redondo77 // Jan 25, 2012 at 6:40 PM

btw, what happened with 5-3-2 sweeper/libero formation? what happened to libero/sweeper position?

Times have changed in football you don’t have to have played first team football to be worth 7 figures. Look at man city didn’t they recently sign a 15year old from Madrid for probably the same price as what were buying Morrison supposably. Mike Ashley is not thick and he does not waste money when it comes to NUFC.

Nobody plays 3-5-2 anymore my friend; and not even 5-3-2.

The 3-5-2 was widely used in South America and Uruguay recently revived it. It doesn’t fit the European mentality, speed or physical approach.

Here is a little read for you. Thought I don’t fancy either 5-3-2, 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 it’s still a good read:

    Elia is left winger, right?

  • 159 jesperfuglsang // Jan 25, 2012 at 7:17 PM

    @redondo77

Honestly, I would have to say No :) Basically what we have are offensive minded players that like to go forward or cut inside – they don’t like to track back, and nor do I think they should.

3-5-2 calls for wingbacks – players that can outrun a horse, so to speak. I am not sure why you fancy a 3-5-2 formation? Is it because of our thin defense or because we have plenty of midfielders?

The latter I agree on, which is why I have been proposing for a while now that we play 4-2-3-1. If you apply a false #9 at the top then basically you have a 4-6-0 formation. :)

But with the signing of Papisto I don’t think we’ll be playing 4-3-2-1 anytime soon :) Maybe 4-3-3, which would be fine with me.

Man City can afford to be lavish signing frankly anyone they want for any price, we can’t. and back on wasting money front….im sure Ashley just handed Ameobi a four year contract, no?

  • 185 niafron // Jan 25, 2012 at 7:31 PM

    Bonsoir messieurs.

Pard will never paly in 3-5-2. For two reasons:

-First, he seem to de an adept of english tradional play.
-Second, by any evidence, he doens’t like to concentrate the paly on the middle of the pitch. Play must be on the wings with him.
And 3-5-2 keep most of the players on the center.

  • 186 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Jan 25, 2012 at 7:32 PM

And if people want to comment on these rumours then who are you to knock that?

  • 187 redondo77 // Jan 25, 2012 at 7:33 PM

    @jesper

I brought it up it is because we have plenty of midfield annd thin defense.
3-5-2 system is high defensive line with only one player as last def, he has to play the off-side traps and must be uncompromise in tackling.
Basically with 3-5-2 we have better chance of taking control of midfield and we need to have hard tacklers in midfield to make it work, i think Cabaye is also a hard tackler. Jonas and raylor as wing backs.
but.. I don’t know if we can or can’t do this formation with our players.

I Watched the game against Zambia and the Senegal defence was shocking, and I mean really shocking. Not being bias but the only time that they looked a threat was when Cisse came on :)

  • 203 niafron // Jan 25, 2012 at 7:43 PM

    @Jesper

What is the most favoured play in Denmark? English 4-4-2 or german 3-5-2 (maybe Dutch 4-3-3)?

  • 204 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Jan 25, 2012 at 7:43 PM

He doesn’t know how to adapt tactics? Hmm I seem to remember that he adapted tactics during the QPR game when Cabaye got injured and brought HBA on and also during the Man U game when he brought Raylor in to the middle of the park so I fail to see where that conclusion has been derived from.

  • 205 toonarmydownsouth // Jan 25, 2012 at 7:44 PM

Jack yeah i dont him sacked would to see him do to pool wat he done to us like!! Its a bit embarrasing to admit but what liverpool done to hodgson wasnt to dissimilar to wat we did to our chrissy hughton only difference is a think all us toon fans wish nothing but the best for hoots n will always remember him fondly and will welcome him back wen ever he comes to SJP with whichever team hes managing where the bindippers fans treated hodgson like sh1te wen they found ‘king’ kenny was off the dole n lookin for work!

  • 206 Ben-Arfa11 // Jan 25, 2012 at 7:45 PM

Well i for 1 will be tuning in to watch senegal for them to WIN the match unlike most toon supporters who are only tuning in to watch it to see senegal flop so ba and cisse come home early.

How sad really if u want senegal to go out early then you dont support ba and cisse simple as that.

You expect them to come back and score goals for newcastle yet you dont support them for there country why would they want to help the newcastle cause with fans so fickle as most toon fans are!

it works both ways really if you expect ba and cisse to form a really good partnership for years and years for newcastle yet you cant even support your so called heros for there most important tournament in there carerer bar world cup!!!

    comonnnnnnnnn senegal

  • 207 niafron // Jan 25, 2012 at 7:45 PM

For me, Ghana. THey are the most experimented. Sure, was gutted by morocco’s defeat, but not surpised. It always happen when things become serious…

And it’s nearly impossible to make a good final tournament when you got no Keeper and poor strikers.

  • 208 MacToon // Jan 25, 2012 at 7:45 PM

I might be a smartarse but there are no quotes just speculation, as we know the club keep their cards very close to their chest nowadays. Nice to see a link though I can go all over the top now ranting about a possible signing!

  • 209 redondo77 // Jan 25, 2012 at 7:45 PM

if we used 3-5-2, probably most manager except fergie wouldn’t know how to deal with it since every team in bpl play the same tactics. if not 442, then it’s 4231

  • 210 jesperfuglsang // Jan 25, 2012 at 7:46 PM

    @redondo77

Your thoughts and ideas are genuine and I agree about having a strong midfield. But we need to be strong at the back in order to be bold enough to go forward.

A 4-2-3-1 i think would suite us better. You have a lone striker that falls back, and you have a three man attacking midfield composed of Ba, HBA and Jonas. Cabaye and Tiote safe guards our defends and the leaves room for our fullbacks to go forward when needed.

That’s basically how I see us play…or we should play :)

  • 211 ToonDownSouth // Jan 25, 2012 at 7:46 PM

Still can’t believe that Liverpool got the best fullback in the Premier League for £6m, given that they spunked £100m on some absolute garbage.

I’m glad that the Liverpool fans appreciate Enrique so much though. He’s absolutely world class. It’s a joke that he’s still overlooked by Spain, and absolute joke.

  • 212 niafron // Jan 25, 2012 at 7:47 PM

Anyway, 3-5-2 seem far more audacious for Pard.

  • 213 ToonDownSouth // Jan 25, 2012 at 7:47 PM

Dalglish tried 3-5-2, and they look absolutely shocking.

  • 214 niafron // Jan 25, 2012 at 7:49 PM

In fact, we palyed last two games in that system Jesper.

For Best palyed left winger and Jonas behind Shola. Worked against QPR and failled against Fulham.

  • 215 ToonDownSouth // Jan 25, 2012 at 7:49 PM

    jesper

That is kind of how we played against QPR & Fulham. But Best was on the left instead of Ba, Guthrie in the middle instead of Tiote, & Ameobi up top.

  • 217 JackButler // Jan 25, 2012 at 7:51 PM

toonarmydownsouth – I can understand the liverpool fans view of Dagleash, as we have the same view with Keegan, but for me I really dislike everything about the man from his miserable face to his monotone voice and I honestly don’t think that he’s that good as a manager, he bought his way to the title at Blackburn and then came here and totally destroyed a champions league team, do you remember his son playing for us, or Des Hamilton and Clemence?

I can feel my blood pressure rising just thinking about it :(

  • 218 redondo77 // Jan 25, 2012 at 7:52 PM

    @jesper & niafron

i just love watching the old days when Juve’s 3-4-3 & Milan’s 3-5-2, i think Napoli also played that system when Maradona still play for them.

  • 219 jesperfuglsang // Jan 25, 2012 at 7:52 PM

    @niafron

Danes are either conservative such as the Brits and play 4-4-2 or they are a bit more modern and play a variation of 4-3-3. We tend to be a bit like the Dutch, but with constrains – hence the British influence hehe…

At amateur level the 3-5-2 was widely used because you didn’t have to learn zone marking :)

  • 220 redondo77 // Jan 25, 2012 at 7:53 PM

I consider 3-5-2 a good system, but only if he’s palyed with the same rules and the same intensity german used to.

Nowaday, defensors doesn’t like sticking to forward shirts. New players are superstars, so it’s not good enough for them…

Which is stupid, cause their old style just bringed three world cups and 3 european championships to the germans (weell they maybe not played 3-5-2 in 1954!)…

Same for old Italian Catenacio (invented by a swiss and called “le verrou” or “the lock” before helenio herrera use it with Inter) who almost disapeared.

You guys are right, AP did change systemin those two games, but at the QPR game Cabaye had to get injured before AP change system from 4-4-2 to 4-3-3 and after that we looked good :)

The week after you would have thought he had learned his lesson. Ap starts the game against Fulham in a 4-3-3 formation, but changes back to 4-4-2 at half time and wupti doo we loose 5-2 :)

yes i think it would only benefit newcastle united if 2 of our star strikers won the african nations cup.

*it means newcastle will get publicity good publicity that there 2 strikers have just won a big tournament
*it also means we have 2 very happy strikers coming home if they went home early what would there effects be i pretty much guess down and upset it might take a few weeks for them to recover to there best form.
*it also gives newcastle a chance to see what we are like without these players.

its not for months its only a few weeks i just hate the way nearly every newcastle site you got fans wanting them to go out early just so they can come home and bang the goals for newcastle.you even see toon fans tweeting ba saying the same thing.if i was demba ba i be disguted by what newcastle fans want for his country i wouldnt want to come back to newcastle quickly if thats the kinda suppoort they give.

if senegal go out early so be it but atleast demba and cisse know that the newcastle public were getting behind them instead of just been selfish twats as the african nations cup is as important as the euros for these players

    goodluck senegal tonight

lets hope our strikers bang them in

It’s different times and therefor different formations. The most successful teams in resent years plays with an lone striker :)

Man Utd, Roma and Barcelona plays 4-2-3-1 (4-6-0) or a variation there of.

No one in the top 4 in any of the big leagues play 4-4-2. :)

Sorry to backtrack here, but I have a work and family life that occasionally interferes with my blogging, but Mactoon @ 162 onwards. You are bang out of order here. Ruddy asked an opinion @ 111, some people, including myself gave response to his question. Nobody’s going daft apart from you. If you have a problem with people debating rumours, signings, press speculation, or indeed a simple opinion on a player, then that problem is yours and yours alone. Ed usually sparks the debate, so deal with it.

Wilkins commentates like he played the game, going on about ‘keep the ball’ keep the ball’ keep the ball’ and on and on, thats all he did, no penetration and no pace, he commentates to try and make his own football style seem good, it wasnt it was stale and slow, totally paceless, the man is a self trimming bore.

  • 404 Level 7 Hero // Jan 25, 2012 at 9:53 PM

Just looking through about Liverpool V City wanting City to win to maintain a Europa League spot for us… If Liverpool win the Carling Cup they will take a Europa League spot… obvo,

However, if they finish 7th or above in the league (European Qualification) it will make absolutly no difference, there will still be 7 available. Say they finish 6th, qualification by the Carling Cup will not take European qualification away from 7th, as they would already of qualified.

Its only if someone like … Cardiff were to win, as they would not be in the top 7 of the PL, they would take a spot away from 7th.

So, if someone wins the Carling Cup who finishes in the top 7 (which Liverpool will) it makes ne difference.

Lads, I don’t know if you know, but even if City had got to the final, Cardiff would be pretty much guaranteed Europa League cause City would probably qualify for the Champions League via their league position, and in that case the losing finalists qualify for Europe. So unless the FA Cup is contested between two top-4 teams (or us) we’re probably gonna have to finish 5th if we want to get into Europe.

  • 416 G // Jan 25, 2012 at 9:57 PM

ben afa is going nowhere this season utter ludicrous to suggest it considering we would want 20 million no doubt hes under contract and if he keeps scorfing goals we could have are very own ronaldo worth 50 million, in 2 years at least a couple a good seasons he will be regarded as a modric type av no doubt and ashley will then sell ibut for big bucks ,pardew is doing the right thing he s keeping his feet on the ground and he is turning ben afa into the player he should be ,he has set him challanges to add the hard working tag to his weoponry and to not lose the ball as much he is obv the most talanted player but you lose a bit as a team with him in coz he is not really a hard worker but it amazes me how best and ameobi and obertan get in ahead of him coz neither are they imo

  • 442 MacToon // Jan 25, 2012 at 10:04 PM

    Senegal with a life line.

  • 443 G // Jan 25, 2012 at 10:04 PM

    Ffs,Sow equaliser

  • 445 GeordieToon89 // Jan 25, 2012 at 10:05 PM

Would be much better over the rest of the season if they came home on the back of sucess rather than being knocked out and then slagged off for being useless confidence would be pooped

  • 446 G // Jan 25, 2012 at 10:05 PM

    @ Thump at post 530… yes… clearly… lol

  • 447 Thump // Jan 25, 2012 at 10:06 PM

    Hahaha G

  • 448 Ben_BKK // Jan 25, 2012 at 10:06 PM

@ Level 7 – ah ok, I thought it was the losing finalists of both got into Europe if the winner already qualified via the league. That makes it more of a shame that Liverpool got to the final then cause I can’t really see them losing to Cardiff so they’ll get Europa even if they finish 7/8th in the league.

Bloody City, they couldn’t have just beaten those Scouse b*stards.

Not 100% if Ba and Cisse will play tho lads, 2 days rest after returning home until first game?
We’ll see… They still have a game left.

A rumour btw, Brede Hangeland is being touted as our defensive target now? If it’s true, then good, best defender in Norway, and a top notch one in the UK too. But, no speed there as we want.

  • 478 Thump // Jan 25, 2012 at 10:14 PM

    @Ben_BKK

    Yeah so we got hope:

    1) Liverpool win the Carling Cup and finish in the top 7.
    2) Any of the eventual top 7 are FA Cup finalists.

Then 7th will still be available for Europa, and then hope we finish 7th!

With Demba and Demba back we will have more of a chance!
