Newcastle Prepared To Sell Fraser Forster To Celtic

It seems that Newcastle are ready to sell Fraser Forster to Celtic.

Fraser Forster – could move permanently to Celtic

Forster does not want to stay on Tyneside if he is not the number one,  and Tim Krul is clearly the top goalkeeper at Newcastle, and he’s the same age as Fraser – 23 years-old.

Forster had a chance last summer to claim the number one spot,  but he wasn’t able to do that, and we think Rob Elliot was signed in late August as the future back-up to Tim Krul.

When Fraser again joined Celtic on a season long loan deal,  that seemed to be the end of his Newcastle career, and he has never played for the first team in a competitive game.

Neil Lennon is hoping to get a deal sorted out soon, but we wonder how much Newcastle will want for the 6’7″ Hexham-born goalkeeper, since they turned down a £2M offer in the summer from Celtic.

Forster has two and a half years of his five year Newcastle contract left to run, which he signed when Alan Shearer was briefly the manager at Newcastle.

It’s a good bet that Newcastle can do a deal with Celtic before the January transfer window ends, and then we expect that Steve Harper would not be allowed to go out on loan.

Steve would probably be the one preferred to Rob Elliot if Tim is injured, and that’s because of his previous experience at Newcastle and in the Premier League.

And it was interesting that Newcastle were linked with 23 year-old Portsmouth goalkeeper Stephen Henderson recently, and maybe this lad could be brought in either this month or in the summer to bolster the goalkeeping position at Newcastle.

With Portsmouth recently being served a winding up order, they are again in deep financial trouble, and Newcastle may be able to get a good deal on the player.

Comments welcome.

Is anyone else bored! I do hae a job but I am off at the moment and despite everything I do to direct my attention else where I find myself checking the internet for any link to a trransfer. It’s doing my heed in.

I am wasting my days away by watching endless montages of Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse and imagining them together at the toon but I think I will die of boredom before Senegal are eliminated.

Beattie25 – You must be really bored mate haha

Forster is simply not good enough for us when we have Krul and he’s not prepared to sit on the bench so get as much as we can for him.

Continuing on from previous discussions about managers getting a percentage of a player’s transfer profit. Could you imagine if it was the other way around i.e. the manager had to pay a percentage of a loss on a player! I think some Newcastle managers would have been bankrupt by now and as for Dogleash – he would be living on the streets 🙂

Forster is nowhere near as good as Tim Krul.
Celtic and him seem to be have been happy with each other for ages now so why not get a good price for him and move him on.
The only worry is that Harper has seen better days and I don’t think Elliott is the answer either. Another good quality young keeper as Tim’s understudy should be the target for the summer transfer window.

I would’ve loved it if he became no.1 keeper at Newcastle, since he went to the same school as me….’I went to the same school as Newcastle’s No.1’….maybe just Celtic’s No.1 now. Either way, it’s probably right that he should be allowed to leave as he’s the same age as Krul and still isn’t getting a game here…let him continue to develop at a top club like Celtic.

If we can get upwards of £3.5 million for him then it’s a no-brainer — so long as we don’t then go and lose Krul in the summer.

Good sign that we’re starting to get fees for youth players that won’t make it, what Man U/Arsenal consistently do. Forster was so over hyped, not the player I was led to believe he was

2 mil, snap their hands off, he’s shite, would still choose harper over him, no prem experience, 20 odd games in league 1 and Scottish prem league last couple of seasons, hardly been out standing up there and even Celtic fans think he’s crap, so why are people wanting sell on clauses and bigger fees, get real ya clowns, to many idiots talking shite, when we buy players do the players have sell on clauses if we get rid of them, so why think every player we sell should have one, sell on clauses are pretty rare in contracts and most people try to avoid them.
