We were told by Alan Pardew yesterday that Coloccini had taken a slight knock in training.
Fabricio Coloccini – has a groin strain
But now it seems that Fabricio has picked up what is thought to be a slight groin strain.
But Newcastle’s captain is now thought to be a real a doubt for tomorrow’s FA Cup fourth round game at Brighton.
It seems the Argentine will have a fitness test later today before the team travels to Brighton, and we suppose James Perch will have to come in for him if Coloccini cannot play.
It seems that Alan Pardew has not been too impressed with young 21 year-old Hungarian Tamas Kadar.
So exactly what’s happened with Tamas this season we have no idea, but it’s almost certain that Kadar will be leaving Newcastle when his contract runs out in June.
And a year or so ago he looked such a promising young player on Tyneside, but at least Kadar is in the party that will travel to Brighton later today.
Having to bring in James Perch to play out of position shows how threadbare the Newcastle squad is at the moment at center-back, and it’s a pity we haven’t signed another center-back by now, because he could have started tomorrow afternoon.
With Newcastle playing 3 games in 8 days, Pardew will not want to risk Coloccini tomorrow unless he’s fully fit, otherwise he could make it worse and miss the next two league game at Blackburn and at home to Aston Villa a week on Sunday.
Alan Pardew talked about Colo today:
“Colo is a serious doubt for the game.” “I don’t think it’s an ongoing situation or a bad situation.” “He will be touch and go for Brighton, so we’ll see.”
It doesn’t look like he will be playing tomorrow, from what we can tell.

Comment #2If he’s not fully fit dont play him, the last time he was touch and go he played and we got our ars*s wooped by Norwich, rather have a fit CB who’s not quite as good

You may not have heard of Tiote or Cabaye much like many on here have not heard of MAriappa.
But don’t forget each had just been a major part of the team that had just won thier respective leauges and both turned down Champions Leauge football to play here. There is your intent.

Comment #4Pards must really think very little of Kadar, surely he would be better suited than Perch-imo

Comment #6Don’t think we should risk Colo if there’s a chance of his ‘Knock’worsening.
Also would love to see Jonas rested and young Fergie get a run out on the left of our midfield, the lad has too much talent to be used as a left back

where did Phil Jagielka come from? The Championship aged 25
Joleon Lescott? The Championship aged 24
Michael Dawson? The Championship aged 23
Three of what I believe to be the best defenders in the league on their day and both English International’s but would you write them off because they came from the league below?

Comment #10Both? There are 3 of them.
You are not reading my posts entirely. I am not saying that he isn’t sh!t because he is from the leauge below. I’m not saying he is sh!t at all. I am just saying that if we sign him now I think it will be a panic buy.

Comment #13Perch in for Collo is the choice that would cause the least disruption on paper but in reality….. Maybe we should move Raylor in as RB & shift Simmo to the centre as plan A?

Comment #20I agree with the call for KAdar.
I don’t dislike Perch but when we played Blackburn in the leauge up we consided 4 with Perchino at CB. Least we could do is give Kadar a game against (forgie me for saying this the poeple who have all of a sudden gotten a hard on for the championship) a lesser team.
But Pardew knows what he is doing more than us so lets get behind the boys and get some revenge against Poyet.

Comment #21Davy – there has to be something wrong with Kadar for Pardew to consistently over look him, the lad had great promise when he came here but for some reason it’s never work out for the lad

For your 21st you might be getting Mariappa and Wilifried Zaha. How does that feel?

Comment #25I really dont think we should be too relaxed about this game.
I think playing 2 upfront is wastage. We need a 5 man midfield so that we can control the ball from there.
I think this
Simmo Willo Perch Santon
Raylor Guthrie
Hba Cabaye Jonas
Shola
We need raylor for his defensive capabilities. But we also know he can attack. We know Guthrie and Raylor both possess good Passing abilities. HBA is needed because lets face it. He is our biggest goal threat.
Only Shola over Best because he can have good hold up play. That will allow us to bring our midfield into the attack more.
Give HBA and Jonas roaming roles again letting Guthrie and Raylor pcik up the defensive slack for HBA. While also allowing HBA to cut in with Raylor switching to a wide position at times.

Comment #27sorry, i hear your argument re shola up front but he is too static, i for one would rather push benny further up, the Brighton defenders would hate him running at them into the box.
Bring Shola on at some point, he just cannot do a full 90mins.
Also would love to see Ferguson at some stage, again if all going well…… I think it will be a very difficult game, harder than Fulham on paper- this is their biggest game so far. Their players will be well up for this one!

Comment #30I hate to say this, as iam a life long Newcastle supporter, but my honest view is if coloccini is not fit to play at the weekend and we play james perch at center half, i think we will get beat at brighton, i have nothing against young james perch, he seems an nice lad, and is a good professional, but he simply is not good enough to play for Newcastle, and for sure he is no center half, they have tried him there already, and he was a disaster, i think they should perhaps play ryan talyor at left back, and play david santon at center half with willo, some people might agree with my views, but thet are just my honest views, and if young james perch plays at center half, i would be simply delighted for him to prove me wrong, but i have my doubts. Howay the lads.
