Watford Reject Latest Magpies’ Mariappa Bid – Time For Plan B

News is coming in that Watford have just rejected Newcastle’s third bid for center-back Adrian Mariappa.

Adrian Mariappa – 3rd bid turned down by Watford

That was supposed to be the third and final bid from Newcastle, and it’s very unusual for Mike Ashley to go back twice with improved offers for any player,  but that seems to be what has happened with Mariappa.

It seems that Newcastle have now bid £750K, £2M and £2.5M for the promising 25 year-old center-back, who stands 5’11” tall, if news reports are to be believed.

We don’t think Newcastle will go back in with a fourth offer for the 25 year-old,  so we suppose Newcastle must move to Plan B and even Plan C if we are to get another center-back into the club during this January transfer window.

Just to show how bad things could be – Coloccini is now a doubt for tomorrow’s game at Brighton –  and the best we can do is to play James Perch out of position in central defense.

Perch will do his best as usual, and can even play solidly in central defense,  but that’s not his natural position,  and there’s just no way Newcastle should go through the rest of the season with only two recognized center-backs.

There’s only four days left in the transfer window,  so we assume Newcastle are working like crazy to get someone suitable into the club soon – and certainly before Tuesday night rolls around.

Comments welcome.

Pardew doesn’t seem to rate Kadar. But he loves Perch. Go figur 😉

the end of the window is getting too close for comfort without having a CB through the doors. i dont doubt the club are working hard to get someone in but it would be a bit of a nightmare if we think we can last the season with just collo and willo… it threatens all the hard work we’ve already put in to get where we are today. would be one hell of a shame

Waford are feeling now how we will feel if Chelsea or Man City etc. come for Tiote or Krul. They are not under any obligation to accept the offer. I’m pleased the did!

Smokescreen you say? could very well be but it’s dragged on for far to long. so it does make sense…Our transfer dealings are like stealth bombers operating under the radar and if cover is blown it’s time to regroup and come again.

Not bothered if we get a centre back, as we will probably score 4 every game once we have benny ba and papa up front.
We could even play the midget back 4 again like Norwich and get a draw, i think if push comes to shove maybe Santo could play there as well, put young Fergy at left back, would sooner get some real quality in the summer rather than just buy shite now.

U lads constantly bash perch but the lax never plays his position he is always playing where he doesn’t belong. But when be does play he gives it a 100% and that’s all we ask if our troops is it not. He has played well mopping up games in defensive midfield and I think that’s a good role for the Lad as he comes on running nonstop and tackling. Lets give the Lad a break mates. We are the toon army the best supporters I’n the world and are known for are support of players who work hard and also known for turning average players into good players via 52000 Geordies supporting from the terraces. It kls me to see players getting slated on here that play there guts out for the toon. Now if they are slacking or don’t give a shite about the toon and here for a check then by all means call em out but if a lad shows pride I’n the shirt and gives a good honest shift support the LAd for pete’s sake

kadar has all the attributes needed to succeed. He’s towering in the air and as big as he is he hardly ever gives up possession….and the thing i like most is he’s VERY comfortable on the ball, much like Colo in that respect (if not as skilled)

most of all, when was the last time you heard of player snapping a limb in open play and the only comment you heard from them is that they felt bad for their teammates because it led to a goal? I’m incapable of believing Kadar’s exclusion under pardew’s reign is because of a lack of trying.

really think pards has this one wrong, completely

pardew obviously has an agenda with kadar. He should have played over Perch at Norwich and at home v WBA.

How bad do you have to be for a manager to play someone out of position over you and for that someone to be Perch? Points tossed away.

If kadar is on his way at the end of the season, fair enough but why not use him till then? It could be a very sorry tale again tomorrow.and it isn’t really even Perch’s fault.

agree completely. It was lunacy not to play him in those matches. I have to remain quietly critical of pardew because there are so many in favor of him but while i think our board are doing the right things and making the right moves, I honestly believe Pardew is not the man for the job. After the early season run i was all for him but we’ve lost innumerable points since then not because of injury or otherwise but because extremely poor and rash decisions on his part

…please don’t slag me for how i feel. i hardly ever voice discontents about pards cause i know it’d be like throwing myself to the wolves on here, but i really do believe he’s a tactically-deficient manager, and poor at man-managing other than his favorites which he seems to have (raylor, obertan, shola)

Mancini must be kicking himself now. he had a chance to get rid of tevez and get some money, he played hardball and now he is stuck with him.
AC Milan now choose Maxi Lopez over Tevez and Inter nolonger interested.

I’m always skeptical of Brazilian defenders. They’re instilled with attack-minded football from the time they start playing…..not to mention the players as a whole are some of the most rash, petulant footballers i’ve ever seen…..that said for 4mil i’ve no idea why we didn’t go for Alex since we’re clearly not going in for Samba
