It’s only one game we know, but it was another embarrassing defeat for Newcastle at the Amex Stadium this afternoon.
Will Buckley after his shot was deflected into goal by Mike Williamson
And for the second game in a row Newcastle let their fans down, with what was at best a tepid performance at the Amex Stadium.
Newcastle went down 1-0 this afternoon in the FA Cup to Championship side Brighton via an own goal from Mike Williamson.
And for the second season running, Newcastle have been embarrassed in the FA Cup, after we were eliminated by then League Two side Stevenage 3-1 last January.
So Alan Pardew may have done well at other clubs in Cup competitions, but so far he hasn’t done well at all on Tyneside.
It was another below par performance from the Newcastle side this afternoon, and the team played very conservatively and had no cutting edge at all up front.
The only way to put things right is to have a blood and thunder display at Blackburn on Wednesday night in the league.
Blackburn are third bottom in the league with 18 points from 22 games, and Newcastle have twice that number of points with 36, and lie in 6th position in the Premier League, and we are still well positioned to do very well in the league.
Newcastle fans can put up with a lot, we have a lot of experience on that front, but not when the side goes down so tamely to a lower league side in a famous FA Cup competition, like they did this afternoon.
Any player who is not willing to run through a brick wall for this club should tell Alan Pardew, and not bother playing in the next game at Blackburn.
It’s only one game today, and it’s not worth over-reacting to it, but this is now two games in a row that the players have not played with the necessary fire in their bellies, to wear the famous Newcastle shirt.
And we don’t really want to hear all the reasons why the lads were mediocre today – from Alan or from any of the players – just turn up on Wednesday night and play out of your skins.
Do it for the Newcastle fans.

the reason the strikers play like this is they have not got to worry about being dropped until ba was returning as pardew has always been poor with changing the team it has happened so much this season already.
santon always was on the bench until saylor and colo got injured for norwich, obatan was always starting, pardew was only really noticing that he needed dropping due to the booing and HBA did not really start being in start team until the day cabaye got injured and thanks to us always giving loud cheering so best and ameobi knew that while ba was away pardew was always going to start them and i wonld not be two suprised if one still starts over cisse on wednesday

Comment #15I reckon for a push of top 5 is now a necessity and for that to happen we will need at least :
QUALITY:
LW/RW
CB
RB
For now the midfield is as good as it is…

Comment #16Some things are clear from tonight’s ‘performance’: simmo is honest but limited, santon is still learning, guthrie is too similar to yoyo, hetty can’t redeem a team based on hard graft and shorn of its best players (saylor, cheik, ba and colo). not sure pards could get any more out of what he’s got to work with – we need fresh quality!

I know mate.. Im just bafled by the comments lie ‘Cabaye being found out’ etc.. He plays proper football on the ground and hardly loses it… People complain when we play hoof ball then complain when we control the game using on the ground footy! Our fans are the most fickle in the world! Yeah the tactics where werong! Damn right they where, but to blame cabaye who lost the ball about twice all game is madness

Comment #19ED talks abt NUFC fans, as a NUFC fan (Die hard) dont want AMEOBI in the team not even on the bench, dont know about others.
PPl talk abt him being a geordie loyal etc, but his preformances certainly dont prove any of that. its ineptitude that shines through

Comment #24jimmy, it’s not a case of cabaye being found wanting: it’s just that he’s still in his first season and he’s got to get used to the violence of the english game – i’ m sure he will btw.

Comment #33Newcastle manager Alan Pardew admitted his team had failed to take their chances.
“I felt we weren’t threatening their goal enough. They defended well, Brighton, to be fair to them.”
Pardew added on ESPN: “We had a good grip of the game (in the first half), we felt comfortable.
“We just struggled to get more shots on goal, to get more chances.”
Pardew was not surprised his side were not awarded a penalty in the closing stages when Brighton’s Ashley Barnes appeared to handle the ball.
Pardew said: “We haven’t had one of them all year so we weren’t expecting one.
“I can’t really fault my players too much in terms of the commitment they have shown.”
why carnt he take it like a man and hold his hands up and come clean and say i got it wrong with my tacticks AGAIN ,

Comment #34@Kevvy if you play footy you will know in the heat of the moment stuff happens! He wasnt even looking when he kicked out and he didnt fully kick out! Look at his stats he covered the most ground by a midfielder in the premiership! He never gives up! If more players in our team had has never give up attitude maybe wed be beating teams like fulham and especially Brighton

Comment #37I just hate that we have the most fickle fans in the world… Yesterday people had their tongues up cabayes arse now they slate him because our STRIKERS couldnt convert in 14 shots at goal! No wonder our fans are the laughing stocks of the lague and have been for a long long time!

Comment #38I’m no real fan of Shola but he won nearly every header and against this Dunk many of you are keen to sign. He just had no support. The great HBA needs to stop moaning , buckle down and start doing it on the pitch. He was dreadful. It highlighted that our squad is still weak even without the Africans & Colo. We need a quality Centre back & another lively forward. We were two pace Slow & stop & passing apart from square balls was pants

Comment #39@jimmy the reason i think most are saying cabaye is nothing without tiote is because they might have had got too much critisism by blaming lack of plan b or changing the team because i do think myself that right now without tiote cabaye look bad as pardew want him to defend more as guthie is no where near as good as tiote but pardew will not change his game to maybe a 4-3-3 or bring on abeid and drop jonas he insist with jonas cabaye HBA guthie in 4 4 2 and i say from todays game the midfield was a mess

Comment #40But surely every fan in the country thinks they ‘deserve better’?
We would have won that game today with Ba and Cisse upfront. Our season is not over. Theres plenty of other PL teams ho are out of the FA Cup also, its not just us.
