Rumors That Newcastle Will Sign French Center-Back – Video

Montpellier defender Mapou Yanga Mbiwa is said to be on his way to have a medical at Newcastle United.

Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa – Newcastle agreed fee with Montpellier?

But we don’t how true this story is, because it’s a rumor that’s been generated on Sky Sports.

The rumor is that Newcastle have had an offer accepted for the Montpellier captain, and the 22 year-old is now on his way to Newcastle, and will have his medical tomorrow.

If the rumor is to be believed,  the 22 year-old will sign a four and a half year deal at Newcastle.

We have covered this lad a few times over the last couple of months and he looks a very good player, who can play anywhere across the back four.

And a player with that defensive versatility would be a very good buy for Newcastle.

The 8 times capped French U21 International stands 6′  tall and would jump at the chance to join Newcastle as he has said earlier this month:

Newcastle are interested? Well it means my performances have crossed the country.

My dream league has always been the Premier League, so you never know.

But for me if Montpellier have to agree a fee with a team, then who knows?

But I would love to play one day in England.

Last  November he was rumored to be worth around £5M, and if that is true Newcastle could have decided he would be a better bargain than Adrian Mariappa of Watford, who would cost around £4M.

This would also be consistent with what the Sunday Sun reported today, that over the last 24 hours, Newcastle have turned their attention to center-backs on the continent,  after their lack of success with Mariatta.

Again, we don’t know if this rumor is true, and it’s that time in the transfer window when rumors could be generated out of thin air.

But we hope it is because we think this lad would be a great buy for Newcastle.

He is the captain of Montpellier, and so the lad has some leadership skills,  and he has played for them since 2006 and has a total of 171 appearances with four goals.

Arsenal are one of the other clubs who have recently been linked with the youngster.

Here’s hoping. 😀

And finally, here’s a video of the player

It’s about time we moved for this lad. I had never heard if him before he started being mentioned on here but after watching a few videos on YouTube I think it’s safe to say the boy looks a natural talent and if Graham Carr has told Newcastle to get him then I’ve no doubt he will be an outstanding player 🙂

Like with our last transfer, don’t believe anything and probably won’t happen. If it will, I will be over the moon, for now, just paper talk.

Off topic I really hope we keep this kit on for next season with possibly some small mods the two giant stripes out of the Newcastle coat of arms is so working for me…I could not go back to the rather invisible thin lines again….

    Tom Williams @tomwfootball
@Dolsen82 That’s the first I’ve heard of it. He didn’t play yesterday because he has an ankle injury.

No one knows the length of the deal mate outside Pardew, Carr, Carver and DL, it’s only guess work. Imo, it makes the rumour even more unlikely.

what u lot think about ba buy out clause imo i think it only comes into affect if were relegated, at the time he signed we were tipped to struggle or go down he has had a similar clause in all his contracts only were not as stupid as west ham to put one in were he can leave for free

If this French intake continues (and believe me I couldn’t give a sh#t where a player comes from if they wear the black and white top with pride) I would love us to sign Antoine Griezmann…. what a talent he is looking and would seriously challenge Spiderman on the left wing. Still only a bairn at 20 and probably cost about 10 million to prize him away…. can’t see Ashley paying out that much again on one player though…. well we can all dream 🙂

because FIFA rules say you can’t give a player more than a 5 year deal that before he’s 26. it’s a ‘protected period’ as FIFA call it.

I’m thinking the same thing mate, but at the same time, u have to question, would Ba sign for another club who’d he had thought there was a chance of relegation?

Here’s yet another reply from the french correspondent:

    Tom Williams @tomwfootball
@Dolsen82 I’ve not heard anything, sorry.

    So we’ll see then.

    @Gorgon
Ye, it kind of does, it seems to me that NUFC are just looking to save every penny they can. Which is ok tbh, we all sort of gain on it. Would like it to be more, but don’t think u can expect too much from a League 1 club.
We’ll only be saving £35.000, which is probably a week off Cabayes wages… Not much to brag about.

Kalou, Hoillet, Diame, Douglas, Clyne, Drenthe, Tafer – Sign these for free would make our team immense without spending on transfer fees haha

dannyo ba clearly thought we wouldnt b jus like i didnt but yea u hav to think why wud we agree to a buy out clause for only 7mill n ba gets 3mill of that money if u believe the rumours so we wud only get 4mill when he had already proved he was a class act at west ham we wouldnt but we wud if it was a relegation clause
