Bad News – Cabaye Charged By FA – Could Be Banned 3 Games

We were hoping this would not happen.

Yohan Cabaye – could get three match ban

But today Newcastle United midfielder and French International Yohan Cabaye has been charged with violent conduct.

It seems the referee in that game has reviewed some video of a collision between Cabaye and Brighton’s El-Abd in the second half.

The incident happened during Brighton’s FA Cup tie at the Amex Stadium on Saturday 28 January, and Adam El-Abd talked about it yesterday, and said the referee Lee Probert had promised him he would review the video from the game.

It seems he has put this in his report, the FA have reviewed it and have charged the Newcastle player with vioent conduct.

And that could mean a three match ban, which is similar to how Mike Williamson was banned for three games after the game at Bolton last season.

Cabaye will have until 6:00 pm tomorrow to respond to the charge, but the likelihood is that he will now receive a three match ban, and that means he could even miss the Blackburn game on Wednesday – but this is not good news for Newcastle United.

We’re not sure why players like El-Abd make such a big fuss of what seemed to be almost nothing in the challenge – but football is getting like basketball the days – unfortunately.

With Cabaye being away at the African Cup of Nations we suppose Mehdi Abeid, Haris Vuckic or James Perch could come in for Yohan over the next three games, if he gets the three match ban.

Comments welcome.

    Trial by TV!!!

Atleast if they do this they (FA) should be consistent.

Just accept it, if we appeal it will be upheld without a doubt in my mind so no point

Give Yohan a rest he needs it tbf to him and give Vuckic, Gosling or Abied a chance

Got to start abeid in the midfield against blackburn, the kid got no fear and has a football brain.Would hate to see gosling start, dont rate him would rather have perch sitting in there so guthrie can get more advanced.Think hes got to either drop ben arfa or put him just behind front man need to obertan back in right wing as much as he it frustrating he brings counter attack and pace away from home.Need to go back to basics in the midfield when we were getting results at places like stoke

    guti guthrie abeid obertan

    cissie ba

Wow, just wow. An apology would have been acceptable from the FA for denying us a blatant penalty and instead they ban our player who had clearly been consistently fouled. What’s more Van Persie gets away with it because he’s van persie, good job FA.

Was just thinking pards is playing 4-2-3-1 so when the dembas r back itl be cisse for best BA for shola and tiote for Guthrie/cabaye depending if injured or suspended lol so r team would be. Krul,simmo,willo,colo,santy,tiote,cabs/Guthrie,HBA,BA,cisse that’s on hell of a team if u ask me and against the better teams put HBA with tiote and put raylor in to be more defensive

Aye, if anything, we’ll be able to see Gosling, Abeid or Vuckic in action for a longer period, and imo, they’re well deserving it for their patience if anything.
    My bet is on Abeid.

Oh am not so sure tbh think we will revert to 442 with Guthrie and Vuckic purely because he has played PL football and Abied aint yet but its a 50 50 chance like (don’t see Gosling getting in tbh)

agree with post 1 Cabeye has been kicked repeativley and the ref’s have let it go
and yes Cabeye has had a go back keyword there is back after he’s had it done
more BS from the Fa after they totally ignored the ben arfa incident last year and Rooneys half a dozen kicks at colo

First time posting but have read diligently for a couple of years. I have to say that our problems have all stemed from Pardew changing the system over the last couple of games with best on the left and no width. 4-4-2 and we are consistent, this new formation and we look lost for ideas. I agree with sure footed shola’s line up and hope to see cisse on the bench and shola in the stands. Not shola bashing just my opinion.

Well, Gosling got a shot against Brighton for 13 mins, also, Ferguson looked extremely livley on the left. Incredibly gifted that lad imo, what pace and fantastic acceleration.
Don’t think Pardew can keep him out much longer.
If Gutti continues to perform below par, i’d be inclined to think that Fergy might not be that far off a start, especially with current injuries.

Good for our youngsters to get bleeded a bit more than they have tbh. Only one to have been given a crack at it is Sammy imo

Cabaye is a dirty little so and so, can still remember him nearly cleaning Bardsley out early season, then nearly snapping spearing in half and now this. Needs to sort his head out or he’ll get a reputation.

Also can someone show me a link of what vuckic has done to be rated so highly, keep hearing how he is the future but havent seen him do anything to have this reputation. I still remmber Brayson and Chopra getting rave reviews for youth and reserves and nowt came of them….

Not happy about this at all but said that already during the game. He did that intentionally and he should be punished. He is actually became our new little Joey Barton, he is a bit violent and he should stop that. The club should talk with him about this.
Very bad if he will be banned for 3 games, but he should take responsibility for himself and for the team and keep a cool head, also, he is a popular figure and children look at him and say “I want to be like Cabaye” so he is also a role model and as such, he should behave appropriately

Absolute bollocks he’s done nothing wrong, its been blown way out of proportion by commentators, pundits and the press. Just another example of the massive inconsistencies shown by the FA.

A little bit naughty of Cabaye, but no more than that.

What I don’t understand is – this really is trial by TV.
    |The ref saw the incident and gave a free kick.
He may not have seen ALL the action that you may be able to pick up by viewing repeated slo mo, but that’s so often the case.

But surely – if the ref ‘saw’ the incident, that’s the end of it? Otherwise, every incident could be reviewed later.
And if such a review was an option, then surely it would be an obligation?

So how come Cabaye has been charged?
