James Perch Was One Of Our Better Players On Saturday

Alan Pardew is hoping that Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse will be back in time to be able to take part at Blackburn on Wednesday evening.

James Perch in action at Brighton

That’s the first game after the transfer window closes at 11:00 pm tomorrow night, so let’s hope we don’t lose any of our players tomorrow.

Both lads played for Senegal last night in their 2-1 defeat to Libya, but they each only played 45 minutes and that was good news for Newcastle.

The Newcastle manager  is still not sure what the situation is with his two absent strikers, and he also took time to compliment James Perch for his display on Saturday:

“It’s difficult. We have to see what their criteria is. We’re hopeful. Tuesday is still the target.”

“I have always gone with the strongest team. I was disappointed to lose Colo but Perchy did very well.

“I thought he was one of our better players so fair play to him on that.”

There’s no doubt that James Perch was Newcastle’s best player on Saturday and good for him, because the 26 year-old has had his fair share of criticism since he was signed from Nottingham Forest eighteen months ago.

But he seems to have gained some confidence under Alan Pardew, who seems to rate him, and he was very steady against Brighton

Certainly you cannot question the lad’s commitment to the cause, and this season he’s appeared he’s a decent utility player for the side.

And James has now appeared 14 times this season for Newcastle with 6 starts, and he made 15 appearances last season with 11 starts, and he may be finding his feet a little bit on Tyneside.

So we don’t think he will be sold this summer – if he wants to star at Newcastle that is – but he seems happy enough now in the role he has at the club.

We need good squad players at Newcastle, which is what Danny Guthrie seems happy to be too.

But we do expect Coloccini to be back in action on Wednesday night at Ewood Park and we also look forward to both Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse being involved,  and there’s nothing like a win at Ewood Park to get us right back on track – in the league.

Comments welcome.

Perch wasn’t bad. Willo played well until his unlucky deflection. Not to blame at all. For me the worst players were 2 of our best players. Jonas (anonymous most of the match), and HBA (trying to pull of the sublime, when we needed the simple). Whats done is done anyway, roll on the Blackburn match.

tbh i think pards or whoever telling HBA to pass more has messed him up a bit like he looks in 2 minds whenever he gets in a good position like at brighton he done a bit of skill to get in the box (in the same place as he got his goal against fulham and banged it in) but this time he hestated and done a shit pass to shola, but sayin that he did look for shola alot but the donkey was always a yard away…btw i do love shola though

And bang goes the dynamite! Can we not have one blog without saying crap about Ameobi? I’m sure I read an article earlier hearing Ameobi banging the drum. Bored to death hearing so called fans slagging off our own players. It’s the same lot who probably boo our own players on the pitch. It needs to stop!

The one topic that we should all be concentrating on is….., Is this going to be one of those anit climax transfer deadline days? I didn’t think it would be back in Dec, but as each day draws closer to the end, it just seems like deja vu all over again. I hope to god, this isn’t the case this time round, and we actually sign a god damn defender. We always seem to need someone in a specific position and soften the blow with a decent signing (Cisse) and neglect that specific transfer we really need.

Yeah, I’m kinda thinking the same way lewytoon. I was very optimistic about this window, but I just think we aren’t going to risk paying out for a player we don’t really want (mariappa) and none of the real targets (ajax defender, douglas, M’biwa) are for sale this window.

Maybe there has been too much talk about Strolla and he doesn’t deserve all the negativity that’s directed towards him, THAT SAID, I do believe credit should be given where credit is do and therefor a good old fashion woop-ass where a good old fashion woop-ass it do.

Strolla has been shite this season and more or less the last 13 years. There is no point debating this, but at least recognize it. Please keep the party clean! No need for any Strolla-bashing.

I agree that it’s really quiet, but on a positive note, Dogleash says that there will be no ins or outs from Liverfool.

So that’s player thief number 1 Pards doesn’t need to be “on his guard” about.

I’m surprised there wasn’t more about the Cisse deal, especially when it was documented that we tried signing him on the last day of the summer window. But, I do get what you are trying to say. I read a report last night that said M’biwa was having his medical at Newcastle, but it’s proven to be typical lazy sunday reporting and proved it was BS!

Pardew is saying he needs cover for Willo, rubbish. He needs cover for Saylor, as Willo was never first choice. We need a first class defender who can ideally play CB of full back. Simpson is playing rubbish at the minute and needs a kick up the arse. Competition for places is desperately needed at NUFC in a few positions.

To be fair perch did actually do well he surprised me he looked pretty solid and showed decent composure , also i think shola has been getting allot of stick i think he did pretty well in the match he had a decent shot on goal was unlucky not to score and won nearly every header but best on the other hand strayed onto wings to often and left shola by himself .

Best’s performance was more disappointing on saturday. The system was designed to create space and chances for him – and he missed two clear chances in a row to bag up the tie.

We really miss Tiote – Guthrie has been good, and there are some interesting stats about him outperforming him in midfield, but it’s no coincidence that we pick up results with Tiote in the side – and struggle without him.

To your relatively needless comment on Shola, surely our flawed genius that is HBA should be passing the ball to where Shola will be instead of where he wants him to be.

In my experience in sport the really good players are able to tailor their passes and make them fit the intended target, why play a pass into an area that can only be reached by a whippet when they are trying to supply a great dane.

To fail to read a pass is less the fault of the receiver but probably more the passer.

A little example is Carroll to slitherpool he was banging them in for NUFC and can’t seem to be able to buy a goal for the bindippers and it’s more to do with dogleash playing a game that does not fit Carroll, why buy a big target man and not play to his strengths.

It’s far more a case of HBA needing to be working on team play and tailoring his passes to ft the players he is playing with rather than the players having to find another two yards of speed to get onto the passes.
