Alan Pardew is hoping that Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse will be back in time to be able to take part at Blackburn on Wednesday evening.
James Perch in action at Brighton
That’s the first game after the transfer window closes at 11:00 pm tomorrow night, so let’s hope we don’t lose any of our players tomorrow.
Both lads played for Senegal last night in their 2-1 defeat to Libya, but they each only played 45 minutes and that was good news for Newcastle.
The Newcastle manager is still not sure what the situation is with his two absent strikers, and he also took time to compliment James Perch for his display on Saturday:
“It’s difficult. We have to see what their criteria is. We’re hopeful. Tuesday is still the target.”
“I have always gone with the strongest team. I was disappointed to lose Colo but Perchy did very well.
“I thought he was one of our better players so fair play to him on that.”
There’s no doubt that James Perch was Newcastle’s best player on Saturday and good for him, because the 26 year-old has had his fair share of criticism since he was signed from Nottingham Forest eighteen months ago.
But he seems to have gained some confidence under Alan Pardew, who seems to rate him, and he was very steady against Brighton
Certainly you cannot question the lad’s commitment to the cause, and this season he’s appeared he’s a decent utility player for the side.
And James has now appeared 14 times this season for Newcastle with 6 starts, and he made 15 appearances last season with 11 starts, and he may be finding his feet a little bit on Tyneside.
So we don’t think he will be sold this summer – if he wants to star at Newcastle that is – but he seems happy enough now in the role he has at the club.
We need good squad players at Newcastle, which is what Danny Guthrie seems happy to be too.
But we do expect Coloccini to be back in action on Wednesday night at Ewood Park and we also look forward to both Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse being involved, and there’s nothing like a win at Ewood Park to get us right back on track – in the league.
Comments welcome.

Comment #281My biggest worry is that he’ll miss Spurs. He’ll be back for the Mackem’s at least (whether we appeal or not).

Comment #286Well I have been saying he hasn’t been quite right since that Derry tackle. Not fair in a way to get FA ban when you think in context the ref hadn’t really given him much protection from that thug doorman that Poyet hired to do a job on him. The ‘cut lip’ was a pinprick on his chin. WaaaaWaaaa!!!

Comment #292Simmo aspires to be a flying LB on the overlap but crucially he can’t cross to sign his name. And he can’t get back. He should just stay put he’s ok there.

Comment #296When Perch play well, these things happen:
1) we concede (usually minimum of 4 goals EXCLUDING brighton match)
2) we always LOSE the match
3) Perch’s Partner in Centre Back always struggle
Conclusion : Perch Bring BAD LUCK.
I rather put Perch in the bench and won 1-0 with every player doing an “average” job.
