The news coming in today is that there is only a small chance that Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse will be able to play tomorrow night at Blackburn.
Papiss Cisse with Pardew – yet to make Newcastle debut
Apparently Newcastle have put on special flights to give them a chance of making the squad for the Rovers game, but it seems they have still not arrived back yet on Tyneside.
Since their last game was on Sunday night, that seems a little surprising, unless they were not released by Senegal immediately after the game against Libya.
Both are free from any injury and they only played 45 minutes on Sunday evening, so we thought there would be a good chance for them to even start tomorrow night, because for the last two games we’ve looked a little weak up front.
This is what Alan Pardew told the local press this morning:
“The situation with Papiss and Demba is that I am hoping, a small hope, they can make the bench.” “The flights are such that you couldn’t ask them to feature from the start.”
“But there is a good chance they could be involved on the bench. We are trying to organise extra flights to get them here.” “The truth is we didn’t expect them to play in this game – or against Villa.”
“If we can win one of the next two games and get Cisse settled quickly, we have a great chance of having as good a second half of the season as we have in the first half.”
Cheick Tiote and the Ivory Coast are going very well and won their third game in a row last night when they beat Angola 2-0, and they have won their Group B with 9 points, and they have yet to concede a goal.
The Ivory Coast will now meet one of the two host countries, Equatorial Guinea, in the quarter finals on Saturday evening in Malabo.
But the best Cheick can now do is to be back for the game at Tottenham a week on Saturday, which has a late kick-off at 12:30pm, and the Ivorian will definitely miss the game at home to Aston Villa on Sunday.
Comments welcome.

Comment #8You can have the best strikers in the world but unless you play like barcelona you need defenders. Look at how man ure and arsenal have coped, not very well!
If Colo goes down we are f*#ked if willo goes down we are in the sh!t if they both go down and we have no cover then I will support nufc ladies!

Comment #10I am expecting us to play 4-4-2 tomorrow the amazing strike force of the lazy twins, Best and Ameobi.
It’s going to be hoof ball all over again – with HBA playing out of position on RW.
AP may on paper field a 4-3-3 formation, but it’s just going to be another 4-4-2. As the say Success has many fathers!

Comment #15Not geting BA back is a big blow obviously but he would struggle with the lack of chances created on Saturday.
No width and no midfield runners getting beyond the Brighton defence.
I have said it before and I will say it again I for one beleive Ben Arfa albeit technically gifted is a luxury we can not afford away from home especially if Shola and Best are up front.
Would like to see Jonas possibly switched to the right and Fergie given a go on the left.
Ben Arfa is best utislised as an impact sub for me and I get a sneaky feeling he will go in the summer.
Anyway im looking forward to the game at Blackburn anyone on here going??
Im on my arse for cash so I will take a pint off the first 3 people to identify themselves at the match – now theres a competition worth entering.

I have thought long and hard here, to the extent of a nose bleed !
We have signed Cisse, out of the blue as i believe most of us were expecting a CB not striker, however i find it remarkable if the club do not balance ‘the books’ during this window.
Mariappa is again linked although i agree with most we all hear the rumours but we tend to sign players that have not been amongst the rumour list.
I just hope come 11pm tonight we still have Colo, Benny, Cabaye, Krul, Tiote and Ba…… Pardew does not sound too convinced we will have when listening to his comments .
Two decent players in and no more out- i could see is in top 5 with the rub of the green- imo
