We were hoping that both Demba Ba and Papiss Cisee would be on Tyneside now, and if they have not yet arrived yet, they should be arriving some time today.
Demba Ba – looking forward to rest of the season
There was a report on Sky Sports last night that Liverpool may move for Demba Ba today, but news after that from Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish, said the Merseyside club wouldn’t be making any signings today – so we hope that’s true.
There may be difficulty holding onto Demba Ba in the summer, but if Newcastle have any sense they will sign the lad up to a new improved contract very soon, and remove the release clause that is said to be in his contract.
Alan Pardew has already said that once the window closes today, he is going to get some players singed to new contracts, and we have to hope that one of them is Ba, along with Fab Coloccini, Danny Simpson, Danny Guthrie and maybe others too.
Demba Ba has said that Newcastle’s only purchase so far in the transfer window, Papiss Cisse, is a proper goalscorer and that he is concentrating on Newcastle this season:
“He’s going to help us achieve something we want to achieve,” “The rest of my season is about Newcastle.”
“So we are going to do everything for them and forget about what has happened here.”
“The position hasn’t changed. I’m just going back there to play the rest of the season. Hopefully as well as I played before.”
What has happened here is that Senegal lost all their games in Group A of the African Cup of Nations, and finished bottom of their group A, and they were surprisingly eliminated.
We hope that both strikers play tomorrow night at Blackburn, which is an important game after two rather poor performances by Newcastle at Fulham and Brighton, and certainly a win would get us back on track and raise our spirits too.
If both strikers are in the side we’d at least have a good goal threat up front and goals change games, so the first goal is what we’ll be looking for tomorrow night.
But Blackburn now seem to be improving, so it will not be an easy game at Ewood Park, and Rovers have two wins and two draws in their last five league games for 8 points.
And the longer we go today without hearing any sudden news about Newcastle players leaving, the better it will be.
So far so good.
And the latest news on Sky Sports says that Newcastle are still hopeful of finalizing a deal for Watford’s Adrian Mariappa – that would be good since it seems Arsenal are also interested in the player.

the reason is simple – because we’re not interested n him. It not a conspiracy or anything.
It’s the same reason why he’s not going to Spurs, Liverpool or Chelsky. Because they are not interested either 😉

Comment #22I hate using my phone for this, but needs must. Pardew has just told the Chron that nothing will happen today, in or out, that will have a big impact on Ncle’s season, just as I told you earlier this morning. So, get yourselves outside for some fresh air – do you much more good than sitting indoors all day waiting for something that aint gonna happen. Cabaye won’t appeal against 3 match suspension, so can’t see us getting many points with the midfield we’ll be putting out, couldn’t create much against Brighton even with him playing.

Comment #28@26 Agreed, he should play 4-2-3-1, with Cisse up front, where he should be and Ba as a CF, Benny playing RAM, with no other changes, we’d have a brilliant starting 11! 😛

Switch Ba out on the left and HBA as a ACM 🙂 he’s not a winger.
Take a look at Ajax – HBA should be playing the same position as Eriksen.

Comment #30@jesperfuglsang Last 4 times he’s been started on the wing he’s scored twice 😉 He is a winger by trade, and was back in France. Ba just simply wouldn’t fit in on the left.. He’s a CF, Jonas would play left, Hatem right, Ba CF and Cisse ST

But to be fair we haven’t really played 4-2-3-1 yet with HBA in the ACM role, which is his best position.
He’ not a winger, but he can operate on a ARM 🙂
Raylor has scored as a LB, but that doesn’t make him a LB does it?

Comment #34lets hope pardew doesnt put all his eggs in one basket regarding buying a defender i dont think it would be a bad thing if we signed 2, i just dont want to see a similar thing to last year where we are weak in a position and its 2 late to do anything about it!!!! get them on board now its a great platform we are on so take advantage of it
