It’s all quiet on the Newcastle transfer front and that’s probably good news.
James Tavernier – could go out on loan again
Very little is happening and the only moves seem to be that one or more of the youngsters could move out on loan.
This is what Alan Pardew said:
“We have had a few enquiries, but not of our big key players, some of the lesser players who are trying to find some experience, and one or two of those might go out – James Tavernier, for example.”
“Alan Smith has obviously gone and we wish him well because he is a fantastic professional. I hope he does really well for MK Dons. He’s a big signing for them.”
“But the big players, no, we have been pretty quiet.”
The bad news is that Newcastle will be without Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse tomorrow night at Ewood Park, as they have had some commitments to Senegal, but exactly what those were we have no idea, but they will not be involved at all tomorrow night
Alan had this to say on the Newcastle web-site this afternoon:
“They have got a very difficult journey in front of them with time difference and everything else, and we have accepted that they won’t make the game,”
“We tried everything to get them here, but they have got commitments to their Federation.” “But we are in good heart that they will be involved on Sunday.”
“It has been disappointing for them, you can’t disguise that,” “Their three results are not what you would expect from Senegal with the team they have.”
“I have watched the games and one of the pitches was atrocious – a real leveller.” “I think they will be okay though. It might just be a case of putting that to bed when they get here.”
“We will talk about it, discuss it and then let’s move on.” “Demba’s had a great season for us and we hope he continues, and Papiss is obviously looking to make his debut.”
We think it’s going to be very difficult to get much out of the game at Blackburn game tomorrow night without Ba, Cisse, Tiote and potentially Cabaye who could be suspended, and we should hear about that within the hour.
That’s unless Newcastle can show much improved form from the last three halves they have played where they have looked very sluggish – and whp’s going to score the goals tomorrow night?
We may have to rely on Danny Guthrie, or maybe even Ben Arfa to score, since Best and Ameobi both look out of form right now.
Let’s hope we don’t lose out third game in a row tomorrow night, because we need to keep picking up those points.
The latest on todays’ transfers include Liam Ridgewell joining West Brom from Birmingham for £2.5M, and Rangers and Croation International striker Nikica Jelavic is at Goodison Park right now, after the clubs agreed a fee for the player, thought to be £8M.
Nikica is expected to sign for Everton tonight, and that follows former Newcastle striker Louis Saha signing on at Tottenham Hotspur on an 18-month deal.
There’s also rumors that Wigan have had a bid accepted for Watford’s Adrian Mariappa, but breaking news is that Adrian has turned down the chance to move to Wigan.
He obviously want to come to Tyneside.
Comments welcome.

Comment #26Time difference!!! What a load of bull… They are not in the US or China… There is a 1 hour time difference between where they have been playing and here. Its like missing a game after a trip to Berlin due to jetlag…..

Comment #31Just as I said at the start of January …
Not one top Toon player was being touted for sale and the message was going out loud and clear to clubs – if you want to get us even thinking it better be a MEGA bid.
Result? Clubs, even the likes of Citeh & Chelski have got the message. We are NOT a selling club unless you pay STUPID money.
If Mariappa signs for us for less than Wigan offered it just shows how sharp we are now in the transfer market. Nobody’s mugs. Fat Freddy eat your heart out.
