Fabricio Coloccini as expected is back in the starting line-up for Newcastle at Ewood Park tonight.
Coloccini missed Saturday’s FA Cup 1-0 defeat at Brighton with a slight groin strain, but he comes straight back into the Newcastle side for James Perch, in what will be a tough game against Blackburn Rovers.
Ryan Taylor comes in for Yohan Cabaye in central midfield, and he did so well there in the QPR game, when Cabaye was stretchered off with an ankle injury.
So this season Ryan has played in both full back positions, out on the right wing and in central midfield, and is proving himself to be a valuable player for the Magpies.
Yohan misses the next three games after his appeal against a violent conduct charge he revived on Monday, was turned down today by the FA.
It’s a huge surprise to us that Leon Best and Shola Ameobi are again the two strikers up front, as neither has looked too sharp in the last two games, but once again Peter Lovenkrands is on the bench – why?
19 year-old Mehdi Abeid is named among the substitutes along with Rob Elliot, Shane Ferguson, James Perch, Dan Gosling, Gabriel Obertan and Peter Lovenkrands.
Blackburn are an improved side since we beat them twice at home in the Premier League and FA Cup, so it will be a tough game tonight for the Magpies.
