Coloccini And Taylor Both Start – Ameobi And Best Up Front

Fabricio Coloccini as expected is back in the starting line-up for Newcastle at Ewood Park tonight.

Coloccini missed Saturday’s FA Cup 1-0 defeat at Brighton with a slight groin strain, but he comes straight back into the Newcastle side for James Perch, in what will be a tough game against Blackburn Rovers.

Ryan Taylor comes in for Yohan Cabaye in central midfield, and he did so well there in the QPR game,  when Cabaye was stretchered off with an ankle injury.

So this season Ryan has played in both full back positions, out on the right wing and in central midfield, and is proving himself to be a valuable player for the Magpies.

Yohan misses the next three games after his appeal against a violent conduct charge he revived on Monday,  was turned down today by the FA.

It’s a huge surprise to us that Leon Best and Shola Ameobi are again the two strikers up front, as neither has looked too sharp in the last two games, but once again Peter Lovenkrands is on the bench – why?

19 year-old  Mehdi Abeid is named among the substitutes along with  Rob Elliot, Shane Ferguson, James Perch,  Dan Gosling, Gabriel Obertan and Peter Lovenkrands.

Blackburn are an improved side since we beat them twice at home in the Premier League and FA Cup, so it will be a tough game tonight for the Magpies.

Howay The Lads!!

Teams:

Blackburn (4-5-1): Paul Robinson (c); Jason Lowe, Scott Dann, Gael Givet, Martin Olsson; Junior Hoilett, Radosav Petrovic, Steven Nzonzi, David Dunn, Morten Gamst Pedersen; Anthony Modeste
Subs: Mark Bunn, Adam Henley, Grant Hanley, Simon Vukcevic, Mauro Formica, Ruben Rochina, Jordan Slew

Newcastle(4-4-2): Tim Krul; Danny Simpson, Mike Williamson, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Davide Santon; Hatem Ben Arfa, Ryan Taylor, Danny Guthrie, Jonas Gutierrez; Shola Ameobi, Leon Best
Subs: Rob Elliot, Shane Ferguson, James Perch, Mehdi Abeid, Dan Gosling, Gabriel Obertan, Peter Lovenkrands

Saw the team on Twitter and got worried we were going for te 4-3-3 again, but so glad it says 4-4-2 on the official website.

May lack abit of bite in the middle that Abeid would have given, but Raylor and Guthries range of passing into the front two and wingers is guarenteed to strech the game for us.

    And the Shola bashing begins…

If we play like we did against Brighton, except actually convert a few chances we’ll be fine.

    2-1

    Hahahaha!

    ‘I wish shola won’t score.’

He gets endless abuse for not scoring, then you get people saying they hope he doesnt! The lad simply cannot win.

Shola again, I fear the worst. I’m not a Shola basher, but everyone can see he is an impact with 20 mins left type player.

You can’t have 2 lazy front runners (use that word advisedly) in best and Shola. BA makes others look good because of his work rate and unselfish and intellignet running.

BA and Benny have pictures in their heads. Best & Shola haven’t even got the camera loaded. Why can’t pardew see that.

that team line up just means its gonna be a long frustrating night and the only possible difference between a draw after 90mins of pulling hair out will be a bit of arfa brilliance

give the boy arfa chance and he’ll score like

see what i did there eh eh?

    oh dear

So, AP’s strangling every bit of imagination out of the team again then…… great. Don’t worry though, we’ll ‘control the game’ and that’s all that matters.

pardew must sit there and think: “wonder what the worst possible line-up could be? hmm…” cause he gets it spot on every time nearly in these situations
