Guthrie just ahead of Krul. Guti and Santon did well too, looks like a good partnership now.

Krul, Guthrie, Ba and Cisse all MOTM. To score a goal like that on your debut. Wow.

I really hope Raylor is ok just a knock and no fracture or anything broken so worried for the lad bust BEST too…cant have them injured cause then Ameobi will still have to roll his body on the pitch

    @Ruddy Marveaux-lous

Of course, but that is exactly what Perch, Guthrie and Gutierrez would do. Stop them from playing their usual type of game. I never said out-play them, what I said was their defense isn’t great, similar to ours (perhaps slightly better than ours). Therefore I am suggesting we our attacking players (Hatem Ben Arfa, Cisse and Ba) to put their defense under pressure which will then take the pressure off our defense.

I don’t think parking-the-bus for 90 minutes at White Hart Lane will work.

I recon Ba could beat RVP yet to the golden boot, even with being away at the ACoN.

cisse played well, great strike, but definitely not MOM. his hold up play is a far second to Ba’s. He did what he’ll do for us i think, create something from a half chance…the perfect foil for Ba

still guthrie ran the show. I can understand Krul and Ba as shouts for MOM, but not really anyone else.

willo poor again. perch for willo v spuds

Matty – I disagree, I thought 9/10 of Cisse touches were first class, some lovely hold up play. He’s more than just a play on the shoulder man that’s for sure.

Ba and Cisse are gonna be worth 30 million each come the summer.

If they brought in a rule where you can’t pass back to your keeper then willo wouldn’t have a clue what to do! I like the guy just annoys me sometimes.

Guthrie motm for me. Perch was ok. Demba was ok, looked a Lil shaky but still class. Cisses goal was an absolute peach. Proper buzzin. I DO wish the defence wasn’t so unsure sometimes. There were times at the end where I could just see a goal comin.

However. We won, I’m buzzin, we’re level on points with Chelsea and only city Chelsea liverpoo and arsenal as “big games” remaining….

So happy. Smiling ear to ear.

    @gorgonzola

Of course, but I feel that:

    Krul,
    Simpson, Williamson, Colocinni, Santon,
    Guthrie, Perch, Gutierrez,
    Hatem Ben Arfa,
    Cisse, Ba

is probably our “best side”, until we have other players back.

I agree I was worried a little when we got Cisse of what type of striker he is he looks like a Finisher to be…. watching him from Germany a little of Van Nisteroy but better and didn’t really realise how small he is… he is half of Ba on the telly Perfect companion for BA absolutely perfect but goes to show what a KING player BA is what a player they should tie him down with a massive contract..

Wouldn’t be surprised that not only the iconic no 9 will be the TM of Newcastle but the number 19 too…

    What a player…

Guthrie. Keeps getting better with every game.

Santon had an excellent game too. He’s going to be our starting LB or RB for the next decade, at least.

Ba and Cisse both are similar types of players. Arent flashy, but its the little things they do to control the ball that makes them so lethal & they know where the goal is for sure.

this is one tough question. Cisse and Demba Ba did well but guthrie is everywhere.

Obertan, Santon and Gutierrez also did well

THANK GOD WE WON! great game, generally seemed even but we (or rather the demba’s) could finish! This proves we can play without tiote or cabaye and that guthrie is a phenomenal player. Hope the mancs can beat chelsea today so we’re still level on points with them but spurs will be an incredibly tough game. Until then, Howay the Lads!!!

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew on his side’s win over Aston Villa
“We limited their breakaways, got the pressure building and we got the dream goal. Papiss Demba Cisse is a new signing for us and he wanted to do well but we must not forget the team ethic here. We’ve got players out but we keep winning. You need great players to turn games and it’s a real bonus that he’s got a goal on his debut. We’ve got dangerous strikers all over the place, we’ve got real firepower here. I expect us to be in the top 10 and we have less pressure than some of the top teams at the moment.”
    mmmmmmmmmmmm modest pardew

Did you actually watch Cisse? Some of his hold up play was textbook, his first touch stuck like glue from some difficult fast/high balls. I think he and Ba are actually very similar (Ba can run in behind too if you haven’t noticed), they are all-round natural STs, which is why I think they’ll work well for and with each other, because they both understand one another.s movement.

I think Williamson had a very good game. He was putting his head in everywhere especially in the last few minutes. We’re playing our best back-four right now for sure.

i’d go for that. just drop willo to the bench as he’s now become a liability and throw perch in CB

actually i think that’s a really good formation. colo to move up a bit to DCM on attack and perch to hold down the fort

I think the happiest thought for me at the minute is something that I haven’t been able to think for quite a while.

Why would anyway want to leave Newcastle United in the summer?

Youngsters flourishing, stars players constantly improving, a real togetherness at the whole entire club, and a team which looks like its ready to continue climbing the league next year.
