Demba Ba To Stay – Cisse Wants To Be Top Newcastle Player

There was good news yesterday for Newcastle fans when top striker Demba  Ba said he has no intention of leaving Newcastle in the summer.

Newcastle’s new strike force – Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse

Ba said the most important thing in football was to be happy and he was happy and enjoying his football on Tyneside, and as usual,  the 26 year-old came over just great in his interview.

And of course it should help a lot that his Senegal team-mate Papiss Cisse has joined him on Tyneside last month.

And Papiss showed what he’s made of on Sunday with that terrific winning goal against Aston Villa, where his technique was just phenomenal,  as he rifled the ball home with his left foot – his weaker foot according to manager Alan Pardew.

Be says that Cisse is a quiet guy and Alan Pardew does not think he will take long to settle on Tyneside:

“I don’t know how long it will take but when you score a goal like that, that helps,”

“After the game, he did his interview and then he came in and he shook everyone’s hand, all the staff – those little moments are nice.”

“He’s a genuine guy, this is a guy who just wants to do well for Newcastle.” “He hasn’t come here with any other agenda than to be a top player for us, and he has had a great start.”

“I am really pleased because it’s a big investment for the club,”  “We have worked hard on that, we have taken our time and we hope we got it right. “

“He has had a great start, and we are delighted for him.”

Well the club have done very well to sign Cisse, and he got his career off to an unbelievable start on Sunday, but it’s only one game and one goal, but we look forward to how the two Senegal lads will play on Saturday at Tottenham.

Spurs showed just how strong they are in defense, as they hardly gave Liverpool a look in last night in the 0-0 draw at Anfield.

Ledley King is certainly a top center-back, and would have been an England regular if he could only have stayed fit in his career, but his knees continue to give him problems.

With Spurs one of the top defenses in the Premier League,  it will not be easy for Newcastle this Saturday.

But as always they will have a go, and of course the lads have nothing to lose,  because everybody down south is expecting a Tottenham win.

That has to help Newcastle, who if they can win this game,  will prove they are really a side to be reckoned with,  and this season too.

Someone mentioned it the other day and I thought the same too, that watching Cisse in a black and white shirt at the match, very much reminded me of Andy Cole.

The number 9 shirt with a short surname beginning with ‘C’ and his slim build, really did give off that vibe. Even when I re-watched the game on sky when I got in, on a couple of close up angles we paused it and couldn’t quite believe the resemblance when he was looking in a certain direction.

I’ve never been as excited in a goal scoring pairing since Ferdinand and Shearer.

Bellamy was a great foil for Shearer but he wasn’t the out an out goal scoring type like Shearer and Sir Les was.
Now, we have two guys who just love that ball in the back of the net and I’m very excited about it 🙂

If Cisse is of a similar temperament to Ba and they link up well, the sky is the limit this season. Totally agree Kirky, exciting times ahead. What a wonder goal for his début too. I hope they both stay for many years!

Have to agree there, for the first time in years we have a lethal goalscoring pair, instead of just relying on the one. We’ve been unable to score more than three this season, i expect that to pick up.

With Ba and Cisse upfront together i think we have a great chance of finishing 5th. When we get Tiote back in the team we will again have a strong spine and i think this could quite possible be our strongest team.

    ————————-Krul————————–
    -Raylor—-Willo————Colo—-Santon—
    ———————Tiote—————————-
    ———-Guthrie———-Cabaye—————-
    ——————–HBA—————————-
    ———-Cisse————BA———————

Guthrie has had a quality season so far and i dont see why he should be dropped when Tiote and Cabaye are both back playing and also jonas has had a preety poor run of games.

I think we will struggle this weekend with the pace Spurs have on the wings, Santon and Simpson will have their work cut out.

Keeping the ball in the centre of midfield and Ba holding the ball up well could be the key. Cisse to battle hard like the Villa game and Guthrie to have another stormer would give us the best chance…could sneak it!

I wouldn’t be sure, we might get worse before we get better in the summer.

No more ‘nearly’ men up front. These guys do the business on a regular basis and have done throughout their careers. Their movement and ability to come alive in the final third was a class or two above the last few games and it is great to see.

You know that even against the top sides, even if we create a few good chances, either or both can score. As was demonstrated on Sunday 😉

Guthrie has done a great job this season, but I’m still looking forward to seeing Tiote and Cabaye back. Perch has played well last few games he’s been in too. The lad can tackle hard at times!

I just hope Ben Arfa can fit in the team somewhere. He’s my favourite player along with Colo. To say he’s not had too much game time, he’s certainly shown end product with goals and chance creation.

We’re desperate for another good 10+ goal a season striker like, to cover for the Demba’s at the ACON next year.

Do you think we’ll have money to spend in the summer WITHOUT selling?

Am I right in thinking that, getting knocked out in the qualifying round for the Champions League (We finish fourth) would be more cash that what we would get in the Europa League, only beaten if you get to the final of the competition.

Obviously have a massive bearing on th Pardews budget. I’m not dusting the passport off just yet like, actually I need a new one its out of date, I’m illegal at the minute.

Difficult to fit in HBA with two strikers.
Maybe during training, they can work on ways of HBA feeding the Dembas although I think it may have to be from RW, not in the ‘hole’ or we will be too narrow.

I’d normally expect Pards to play 5 across and one up front against Spurs to combat their wing play. Whether the ‘let our hair down’ comment refers to he possibility of starting with Ba and Cisse in a 4-4-2 we’ll have to wait to find out.
As to whether Danny Simpson really is the club’s quickest, I think we’re about to find out against Bale.

ACON is every other year, however, it will be played in 2013 so that it falls on an ‘odd’ year and can avoid world cup and European championships which fall on ‘even’ years

They say its a good problem to have – having too many players to choose from – but it is a real problem just now. Raylor/Obertan/HBA? Ideally HBA would be included as he might just be the spark to change us from a good side into a sensational one – but there are obvious reasons why he will not get the nod just now.

Midfield? Guthrie has been brilliant and in an ideal world would complement Cabaye – but then Tiote is due back so who could go to accommodate these in form players – a right mf? Gutti? both would narrow the team’s formation and lessen the threat from wide areas which Dembas will thrive on. Whatever Pardew decides on there are going to be some who see it differently. WE must trust in his judgement though. He sees the players every day and knows what each is capable of – and he hasn’t done badly so far has he?
