Papiss Cisse And Gabby Obertan Start For Magpies

4:43 pm, Saturday, February 11th, 2012 by Ed Harrison · 796 Comments

As expected Newcastle will start with the team that was on the field after Leon Best and Ryan Taylor went off  injured last week in that first half against Aston Villa.

So Papiss Cisse starts up front for Leon Best and will partner Demba Ba ,  and Gabby Obertan starts on the right wing in place of Ryan Taylor.

Results seem to have gone Newcastle’s way today, with Manchester United beating Liverpool fairly easily by 2-1 with two good goals from Wayne Rooney in the early game.

And Everton have won 2-0 at Goodison Park against Chelsea today,  and they won fairly comfortably against what appeared to be a poor Chelsea side, certainly a gutless performance from the London side.

And it seems that Arsenal may have scored the winner against Sunderland in injury time and are currently leading 2-1, after Sunderland had taken the lead in the second half.

The goal was scored by Thierry Henry in the first minute of added time and that’s now a result.

And at the bottom Blackburn beat QPR  by 3-2 and Wigan beat Bolton 2-1 away – two unexpected results, and will  Joey be playing in the Championship next season?

Newcastle start this game in 6th place in the league, one point behind both Chelsea and Arsenal, and a win today will take Newcastle into 4th place in the league.

It will be a tough game, but we’ll be happy enough if the lads show total and complete commitment to the cause at White Hart Lane.

Howay The Lads!!

    strong lineups.

HBA to replace obertan if we are losing

Ameobi to replace one of the Demba if we are winning

  • 3 roshan MAGPIE // Feb 11, 2012 at 4:46 PM

    what IS spurs line up

  • 4 Benry // Feb 11, 2012 at 4:47 PM

Ekotto will have obertan in his pocket all day.

  • 5 Barras // Feb 11, 2012 at 4:47 PM

If that is our team selection today then Hatem Ben Arfa will be on his way in the summer I feel. If Perch and Obertan are now getting picked before him then he will go I think.

I’m not criticising the team selection though as I trust Pardew, I personally would of picked Ben Arfa before Obertan. And then played a diamond in midfield.

CDM Perch LCM Gutierrez RCM Guthrie CAM Ben Arfa. But Obertan has been playing well so we’ll see what happens.

    HTL

as mentioned, whoever plays LM will be key. Krancjar slips into the middle. he hustles back but we need Obertan who will beat him 10 times out of 10 in a foot race. guti to keep bale at bay. hope pardew realizes a simple switch between our wingers could make all the difference

    not counting on it though…

  • 54 WWJBD // Feb 11, 2012 at 5:09 PM

    Ian Magpie
Well for all my life it has always been Sunderland hating us and, quite frankly, us not giving a rats backside about them. Thats how I see it they are just another team to me other than they are a bit closer.

I dont hate them as I dont care enough about them to do so. They have a decent team overall and a decent manager dont see why I should care about them

On a side note that ESPN The Toon Rises promo is brilliant

  • 55 JackButler // Feb 11, 2012 at 5:10 PM

  • 80 Ben_BKK // Feb 11, 2012 at 5:26 PM

gorgonzola, I think calling him disgusting is going a bit far lol. Yes he’s annoying with his double standards in the way he goes on and on about other teams’ players then complains as soon as someone mentions one of his, but he’s a good manager no doubt about that. I’m still a bit bitter about him rejecting us a few years back though and then going to Spurs not long later.

  • 81 Ibizatoon // Feb 11, 2012 at 5:26 PM

  • 95 MagpiesFlyHigh // Feb 11, 2012 at 5:32 PM

I’d settle for a draw, but if we can avoid meltdown in defence like at Fulham, if we keep our concentration like Stoke and ManU – and its evens going into the last ten minutes we can nick it – Cisse or Ba to do a Henry :-)

A lot of ‘ifs’ mind – but it is ours for the taking

Sorry, i’m a bite late, so we’re trailed by two goals, but now, everything will be OK.

  • 134 SurefootedShola // Feb 11, 2012 at 5:39 PM

Why is Pardew still using this high line! It’s ok against 1 striker, but against 2 who have the legs on the pair of our CBs, it’s utter suicide.

  • 135 gonufc // Feb 11, 2012 at 5:39 PM

gorgonzola – 2-0 down after 6 minutes… course it’s bloody dangerous, what a stupid comment

Have been looking forward to this game all day, after this start beginning to wonder why I bothered!

Am fuming here, the defence has NO SHAPE, and we’re playing way too high. They have pacey attackers and outstripping our defenders.

Fearing the worse, was going to have a drink to lighten the mood, would prefer to stay stone cold sober now

    HWTL

  • 210 Thump // Feb 11, 2012 at 5:52 PM

As I’ve being saying consistently with our lack of defensive cover I don’t think we’ll make Europe.

To have a chance today we needed Saylor, Tiote, Cabaye and even Marveaux (who is clinical with the ball) in the team.

We look very boring. Nothing in the middle.

  • 240 TTT // Feb 11, 2012 at 5:58 PM

    What a joke.

    1. You don’t play two out and out strikers away at Tottenham.
    2. Its even more pointless to play two strikers when Obertan, who can’t cross and has no positional awareness, is on the pitch.
    3. You can’t play a high line against a pacy team especially when you know your defenders aren’t great across the line.

If we had five in midfield, focused attacks down the wings and had a defensive approach specific to the team we are playing we might have had a chance.

    1. Cannot defend
    2. Cannot attack
    3. Cannot tackle
    4. Cannot pass to team mates
    5. Cannot play space and triangles

Has Cashley done a back room deal?

why will pardew never be a good football manager,

easy, he is to soft, has not got the heart to drop players he knows arnt good enough, i feel he classes them as friends and loves the underdogs,

    tactics,
some of you think its his strong point, well i beg to differ, any man and his dog can see if you play to good cf that can use the wingers that cross,

id rather lose playing with the good kids we have rather than perch, simpson, obertan, no team could carry them :(

    Obertan
    Perch
    Williamson
    Simpson

and then act on it, yes other players are also playing poorly, but these guys seem to be doing it all the time. If we want to move forward those four players will hold us back, simple.

  • 396 Spuggy // Feb 11, 2012 at 6:23 PM

Obertan is having a mare actually. We have a big problem on the right side which we need to address in the summer.

We need Santon @ RB with SOMEONE who can play the wing – Santon would provide some decent cross from the right but he has to come inside on the left.

Interesting to see what pards does with subs? Spurs have bossed us, out paced us out skilled us.

  • 409 sticklebricks // Feb 11, 2012 at 6:25 PM

We aren’t playing bad, I would say we have had as much if not more of the ball than Spurs….

They have really only had 4 shots on goal from which they have scored… We should have had a penalty and Cisse could have easily of scored from Santons cross.

They have caught us on the break a few times and shown some great skill, leading to the four goals.

I’d bring Gosling on for Perch for the start of the 2nd half, Arfa and Fergie for Obs/Simmo if we are still struggling later in the game and switch Santon to the right.

  • 413 Rotonda heights // Feb 11, 2012 at 6:26 PM

simpson and willo are championship players at best.
Can’t believe we didn’t get m’biwa or douglas and if someone gets injured now, it’s perch at the back again.

As we suspected the midfield is being over run, but just like fulham, pardew won’t change things as he’s still more worried about the other team than playing to our strengths

  • 414 Benry // Feb 11, 2012 at 6:27 PM

I would refuse to play tonight if I was Ben Arfa also. If Pardew asked me to come on I would tell him to do one and put Ameobi on instead. What a disgrace that ameobi and obertan can get more game time than ben arfa, because arfa likes to take ppl on and create something.

@jimmy: I don’t disagree that Perch is playing his tiny little heart out, but you can’t play a simple pass when you’re getting readily closed down and nobody is running into space. What is annoying me about Guthrie is that he’s trying to Arfa his way up the pitch.

That’s what I’ve been saying for too long now. He is being brought in when we are down, and he is getting punished for doing one mistake when the whole team is full of mistakes and no one gets this treatment. But refusing to play is not the way.
But most of the people in the blog do support HBA. The only problem with him (and I started seeing this too) he does loose a lot of ball when it is unnecessary. The fact that the treatment he gets from A.P is wrong, that is something else.

Well, lets see what will happen, that’s all I can say. Just feel bad for us right now.

  • 421 lukes26 // Feb 11, 2012 at 6:28 PM

Newcastle is being outplayed by skill , energy & tactics.

    The shitlist:

    #1. Williamson
    #2 Simpson
    #3 Perch
    #4 Jonas
    #5 Santon
    #6 Obertan

Giving Tottenham too much space. The pressing energy that their players are putting on Newcastle is impressive, working much harder off the ball.

I think Pardew needs to make a statement and take off Simpson at HT..he’s been that bad.

I am sorry but its games like this that are INDEED what we need to uncover the utter crap. I am sorry but we all know some players are not of the premierehsip standard.

    hear me out please…

    And they are:

    Obertan
    Perch
    Willamson
    Simpson
even Jonas to an extent and Guthrie

They are also very inconsistent players.. Perch is playing today in midfield WHY exactly? Cause he had a run of good games? DId he really? He has always been shocking no position is good for him, he is small, slow, and has no ability to boss the midfield.

People on here have been slagging and agreeing with Pardew on HBA losign balls and the fact they cant see him fit in the team FAIR ENOUGH but what has Obertan done to deserve a start the entire season pretty much bar some games?

Jonas and Gutrhie play with guts most of the time but are also quite inconsistent to me Jonas has lost a lot of pace and has some awful passes as for a few months now I dunno if he is tasked to help track back hut his dazzling runs have all but disappeared …

But its games like this that fully unlock us and I cant help but look at this positively in fact show where we need new players…

And so what we lose this game, if the players have half a heart they will stop the rot here….

Lads dont get stressed to much….

    peace…

I think Guthries been excelent for us recently. He’s really grown the last few months. We are definitely missing Tiote and a pacy defender. I wonder if the dropping of the youth squad and the england manager talk has completely changed the game, affecting the players. We went down early and we panicked and couldn’t put a good ball in. We should have slowed the game down, played for the draw from the start!

HBA and abeid would be great but pardew is way too conservative to do anything like that. A lot of our wins have been barely scraping through by 1 goal against the likes of wolves etc, but some people think pardew can do no wrong.

    Dont get criticism at Simmo.

Im not confident in Santons defensive ability.

Obertan appears to gel with the team better and work for the team more than HBA.

Yes he loses the ball but no more than Benny.

    I said we needed a 5-man midfield.

I would probably sub Ba and play Benny in the hole and hope for magic at this point.

Perch has misplaced many passes but believe me we would be more than 4-0 without him.

Our high line combined with the lack of pace in CB making us very vulnerable. SPurs pace is r@ping them as Pards would say.

But on the face of it, we arent playing that bad at all. We are just being outclassed by a brilliant Tottenham and luck has not gone our way. We are always shaky at the beginning of game. Spurs have highlighted that and taken full advantage.

    @ Thump

Keep trying and inform us if you find some… coz I can’t find… except this that Obertan sub is sign that Pardew is not complete blind.

  • 500 gorgonzola // Feb 11, 2012 at 6:46 PM

Perch is still on the field..

Pardew is gutless and strategically challenged… He is after damage limitation, which only means we will drink more goals…

  • 501 ilovetoon8788 // Feb 11, 2012 at 6:46 PM

Shows 1 thing. You can have 2 world class strikers but they are useless if you have hopeless wingers.

Interesting fact. In some super toto game or something in 1995, Pardew played in Spurs, and they lost 8-0, their bigger lost in History. Anyone can confirm this?

  • 507 toonarmydownsouth // Feb 11, 2012 at 6:47 PM

I know guti has been shifted to help simmo but why does an established rb need to much cover? Why cant he cope like every other rb in the league was understandable with raylor as he was not a natural lb but for me simmo should not need the same level of cover he has no decision making capability

  • 508 Brutooon // Feb 11, 2012 at 6:48 PM

  • 510 LGFUAD21 // Feb 11, 2012 at 6:48 PM

I do like Ferguson. He’s fast and can put in a shift defensively. But let’s face it. It is a very negative strategy to be playing 2 defensive minded wingers.

  • 511 Spuggy // Feb 11, 2012 at 6:48 PM

The problem is pace and movement off the ball = 0, no one has any passing options.

  • 522 Thump // Feb 11, 2012 at 6:50 PM

@toonarmydownsouth: Every full back needs cover in the same way that every winger needs support. A good challenge from a crossing chance is two men challenging one, with one of the defensive players getting ready to chase the ball.

  • 523 gorgonzola // Feb 11, 2012 at 6:50 PM

  • 524 AndyNUFC // Feb 11, 2012 at 6:50 PM

    Ok, poor today.

Any surprise with the amount they’ve spent?

Plus our 2 talisman strikers have came back from the African cup, no midfield general or distributor, and the defence has no protection.

I read somewhere, I think here, we’d need to grab 9 wins in the last 14 for Champions League and join the likes of Spurs today.

Howay man get real, even 8/9th is a great season.

  • 668 dave m // Feb 11, 2012 at 7:11 PM

Real lack of leadership on and off the pitch here like, as it was against fulham.

Think in hindsight 4-5-1 would have been the better choice, but who honestly wouldn’t have started Ba and Cisse? as for everyone complaining about Obertan/Guttierez/Guthrie/Perch, who else would you have played?

defensive line was far too high and exposed badly again today.

However bad we have been, remember spurs are a far superior team, it has shown.

  • 669 nufc mad man // Feb 11, 2012 at 7:11 PM

all you can blame pardew for is not getting the CB in january. everything else is down to how heavy we have rely this season on krul saylor tiote and ba, without saylor and tiote pardew feel the need to stay back which could be why HBA never starts. if we did start 4-5-1 and left cisse on the bench there will likely have been as much of a moan blaming pardew for not trying to win a game when we are battling for euro. so today was just a bad day for us and again proves we lack depth .

  • 670 Toonboy // Feb 11, 2012 at 7:11 PM

Summer has to be about keeping the talent we’ve got but we really need to strengthen (with a class) a number of positions. Namely,

    RW
    LW
RB/LB (depending on which side Santon plays)

and backup in a couple more positions – CB, CF.

Worried about the first objective – keeping our existing talent. Heard from good source that Krul is interested in moving to Spurs in the summer. After today’s performance it wouldn’t surprise me at all.

All joking aside, pardew is the most gutless manager when it comes too playing away. Tactical prowess of a donkey. Don’t think he’s the man to take us forward, would much prefer someone like Martinez or Brendan Rodgers. At least they know how to get a team playing football not hoofball. Now I don’t think we should get rid of pardew now but within 2 seasons. Let’s all be honest, we’ve been very very lucky this season, even last week against villa we played poorly and have done for most of the season with the exception of a couple of games.

i agree with some of what you say there,

but i think we all know the 3 that would not have played, obertan, perch, and simpson,

we have slow defenders, they have quick forwards, so why did he tell them to play with a high line?,

so put 3 better players on insted of those 3 and play a little deeper, not right on the 18y box , but not as high as we do

plus, with 3 better players in for those 3 it would not have been as bad as this,

    its gutless, :(

  • 697 MagpiesFlyHigh // Feb 11, 2012 at 7:15 PM

    We’ve been rumbled.
We’ve got a lot of journeymen – squad players who are okay for some of the time but lack the ability to cut it against top players. Our squad players are mid-table players. Our starting 11 should be top 6-7 but we miss out pretty quickly as not strength in depth.

We flatter to deceive – but remember it took floppy chops three years to build this side and maybe we expect too much from pretty average players. They try their best, but their best isn’t good enough

    catchy

You are aware we played 4-42 away to Spurs?

I have many complaints, but I dont think “spineless & gutless” are included.

  • 747 Thump // Feb 11, 2012 at 7:24 PM

@BenArfa: I think Pards is a bit worried about playing youngsters away from home. Remember Vuckic at Liverpool?

  • 748 WWJBD // Feb 11, 2012 at 7:25 PM

Fair play to Spurs they were fantastic today and made the best of our poor 90 minutes deserved it and we deserved to be beaten

However for a relegation touted team we arent doing so bad imo

mike ashley did his part he got pardew talent pardew is the one that did not want to play HBA and played F PERCH!!!!!!! who i always thought was the worst player in the prem,,,HBA is our best player skillwise,, better than ba and cisse and he is on THE BENCH!!!!!! pardew for england!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 753 Oleg G // Feb 11, 2012 at 7:25 PM

Well, to conclude. We were outplayed today by a team who is better then we are, but we played 2 levels lower then our best, and they played at their best.
Not creativity, no passing options for our own players, static game, no movement, loosing the ball all the time and lack of quality if defense. We were very poor with our work rate and ambition. Had no offense and almost not midfield. all 5 goals are mistakes on defense + midfield, not GK.

Spurs played beautiful football, passing, movement, creativity, work rate and effort, unity, joy, and force.

TBH he’d be better in a side like Spuds the way they played today. :-(

  • 759 Rotonda heights // Feb 11, 2012 at 7:27 PM

could benny really have done any worse?

Conclusion : simmo and willo are desperately poor.

we have no creativity whatsoever and the one player who can supply it is being cold shouldered.

We have a manager who is a tactical pygmy with no plan B, who makes negative subs who can’t impact a game in any positive sense.

We’ll never know but if we had got harry as manager, we may be playing decent football.

We may finish 6th but really it shows how mediocre the league is outside the top 5.

the only plus point is cabaye and tiote coming back

then why change from CH, he was doing ok,, he may not have taken us into europe, but nor will pardew,,

i feel luck now is running out on us,

HBA, playing in midfield when the boys went to africa, gave the ball away, YES, but he also created goals and scored them, in a weaknd team,

    arrrrrrr, i hate pardew

    i hate obertan

    i hate perch

    i hate simpson,,

im not saying i want to see them injured, im saying i dont wat to see them play for my team

    LIKE NOW,

    spineless , gutless

ITs is true. 2-0 down we know we were Out beaten on the field.

BUT no changes…Its ok…3-0 down still waiting…NO GUTS!!! Its ok…4-0 down…Still NO Chance…Taxi for Padew. ? NOt yet… we know he was like that. Balls was hanging somewhere..

  • 765 Edd Case // Feb 11, 2012 at 7:28 PM

Knew this sort of result was coming.

Willo and Simmo been VERY lucky of late – luck always runs out.

Have to say though, as much as a 5-0 always hurts, I couldn’t see that result with Tiote, Cabaye and Taylor in the team, not to mention HBA instead of Obertan.

We should still be on for a Euro spot, 5th maybe beyond this team but 6th or 7th maybe.

Summer time we need a clear out…

    Simmo – you’ve been found out son, you’re shi£t
Willo – I hate saying this but he is bloody awful
Santon – has to do more
Colo – being made to look crud by others
Guthrie – too inconsistent and get’s bullied out of it by better midfielders…and can’t pass for toffee on day’s like today

Hope you lot don’t go OTT though – this is one game and we’ve been thumped before and got back up.

Not the type of display I or indeed we were looking for.

Caught cold at the start and never recovered by an stretch of the imagination.

Fair play to Adebayor, he had a dream game for Spuds today and ripped us to shreds.

Lick our wounds, get the Tank & Cabaye back and press on for the next game.

Great to see our supporters down the smoke SUPPORTING our team till the death. WELL DONE YOU LOT!!!!!!!!!

There are some bright points to this game.

We have 3 of our next 4 matches at SJP which are all winnable (Wolves, mackems and Norwich).

We have Tiote and Cabaye back for the next game and absolutely no reason to keep them out.

And we have lost no ground to Liverpool or the mackems and remain only a solitary point off 4th spot.

  • 772 Nufcjoss // Feb 11, 2012 at 7:30 PM

they got us good.. what happens in the first 10? at my point of view, there is nothing good to take with us in to the next game! , can’t wait to get tiote, taylor and cabaye back.. miss them like h3ll

Why’s that spineless haha? I’m not trying to defend anyone, I just think it was stupidity.

Mind you, when I suggested in here midweek that Spurs are a better side than us, I got all the stick in the world! I imagine if we’d played 4-5-1 and lost, the story would be “Pardew didn’t have the guts to play 2 up front!”.

I expect to see HBA start the next game though. If not, something must be very wrong.

  • 775 BenArfa-Legend10 // Feb 11, 2012 at 7:31 PM

    pardew should be ashamed

oh, and i’m crazy for thinking pardew had it out for HBA and was trying to make a point out of him?

    bollox

he’s a grudge possibly because he’s a player pardew could never be. he’s confident probably bordering on the cocky and pardew hates it

guess what pardew? you’re a sh!t manager and you better start playing him ahead of that other tripe youthrew out there today

I can also not say anything but have to put this out. I am very passionate about the team, very. But I think the shock was so big in the first 10 minutes, that I am not feeling bad about this. We were just bad and they were just that good.
    The question is, what now.
Was furious about the Fulham game, couldn’t relax for days, but this one, I think it is more depressing and making me angry or anything like that.

Just hope the team, player and coaches, learn from these players. One thing I see that we never learn is to play a more moving football and create passing options for our own players, all season long it has been bad.

  • 778 nufc mad man // Feb 11, 2012 at 7:32 PM

ryan taylor must be put in place of simpson at RB the right side today was the worst of the lot willo simmo and obatan rubbish. pardew get another CB and RB or LB in summer as without steven taylor you would think it is a bramble boomsong defence

  • 779 Rotonda heights // Feb 11, 2012 at 7:33 PM

    edd case

that’s the trouble it’s hardly a one off. we looked brilliant against manu with an aging ferdinand and nervous jones and against stoke but can’t think of any other convincing displays at all.

  • 780 MagpiesFlyHigh // Feb 11, 2012 at 7:33 PM

I’m sure we’ll see Benny with Ba and Cisse soon. Hope so…

    @Oleg G

Our squad players will play really well a bit of the time, above themselves a bit of the time, average most of the time and dire (like today) a fair bit of the time.
Better players = more consistency at a higher level and no 5 goal drubbings.

  • 782 davetoon // Feb 11, 2012 at 7:34 PM

you may be right about moving Santon to left MF as he is caught out of position at LB so often, it costs us goals. Coloccini always has to come across to the left back position to cover and the defence gets stretched creating space

  • 783 yankazaz // Feb 11, 2012 at 7:34 PM

I think Pardew paid off a number of goals to learn the game. Top 4 clubs got their own way of game. And we just play long ball and offside trap every games.

Notice that in the first period of season, when offside trap worked (in fact, the other clubs seem to be surprise with our trap), we conceded a little goal. But after that, we started to lose a game with many goals…

The thing I hate is our own game not moving forward to current football game. Like Swansea for example… Spuds kill us with pace, distance between player, skill on pass, skill on read the game, skill on control the ball… in absolutely out class level when compare with us..

We start to satisfied with winning the game in “best defensive” and losing the game in “tennis score”.

  • 784 Ian Magpie // Feb 11, 2012 at 7:34 PM

@stuartn09 I saw Ashley and Lmbsarese having a good laugh on 70mins!!!!!!!!!!! There team has been humiliated nd embarrassed and they are laughing!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe not such a good idea to finnish 4th as if Spurs have stuffed us, what will the likes of Barcelona or Madrid do to us! Frightening!!!! Looking at the games I can see us finnishing 6th and at least the Europa league should be good enough for now. Lets take it one step at a time becouse quite honestly we are decades behind the best teams in this league! Howay tha Lads!

  • 787 catchy in norway // Feb 11, 2012 at 7:39 PM

    TDS

its spineless, because the man calls himself a manager of a football club, but he puts players feelings first,

he has to face players like obertan, perch, simpson every day, and if he drops them he carnt face them, where as he has kids there with real football ability, its easy for him not to play them cos there kids,

    thats the spinless bit

gutless, cos he wont make positive changes

we will play 442, from now on, because he has 2 good forwards who can score, even in games were it will be tough, like today,

it should have been 5 in midfield,

perch is far to light weight for there

    obertan carnt cross a ball,

    simpson just hoofs it anywhere

  • 788 jimiley // Feb 11, 2012 at 7:43 PM

Pardew is the luckiest manager in the league. He got Ba on a free and that player has kept Pardew in a job. Without Ba, Pardew would be out the door. We would be in the bottom 6. Pardew is tactically inept and plays football the Big Sam way. He gets results because he has an outstanding striker. We lost out big time when we got Pardew and the Spuds got Harry.

  • 789 Rotonda heights // Feb 11, 2012 at 7:44 PM

Beginning to wonder if pardew isn’t just another allardyce.
1 tactic only = Long ball, offsides, negative, worrying more about the opposition and kicking people – we’re bottom of the fair play league.

we’re 6th in a poor league and 2 games aside we havc been incredibly lucky in some games, whilst a one point only getting 5 points out of 27.

  • 790 stestickle // Feb 11, 2012 at 7:51 PM

  • 796 Lynxie // Feb 12, 2012 at 2:13 PM

For Gods sake lets get Ryan Taylor fit and in at RB, Simpson needs benched so he can do no further damage. he was W*nk against Fulham, Villa, Blackburn, and last night he produced the worst defending exhibition I have ever witnessed. Shocking, unacceptable, and incompetent. He should be ashamed of himself. As for Pardew, rabbit and headlights leaps to mind. Why did the cahnge have to wait until half time? Obertan was obviously not interested or capable of following orders or (if they even existed) tactics. Very poor once again Mr Pardew, must do better, people spend a lot of money to make it to away games, you OWE IT TO THE FANS to put in the effort and performance. The lot of them should donate a weeks wages to a charity for that abysmal show of ineptitude..
