Newcastle Contract Negotiations May Be Delayed Until Summer

Mike Ashley visited Newcastle on Thursday and he was seen at the game yesterday looking happy enough – when Newcastle were 5-0 down.

Mike Ashley – in Newcastle last Thursday

That’s more than some of us were feeling, after Newcastle’s horror show in the first half, but it’s only one game and Newcastle are still in 6th place in the league, so we have to balance what happened yesterday with how well the lads are doing this season.

Mike met with Alan Pardew and talked about three contracts last Thursday – those of Fab Coloccini, Danny Guthrie and Danny Simpson – but they may be held up until the summer.

And that seems a little bit  dodgy with Guthrie, because his current deal runs out on 30th June.

This is what Alan Pardew told the Sunday Sun today:

“Mike was here on Thursday. We discussed those three contracts.” “We’ll talk about the younger group – one or two targets, one or two contract situations.

“I can’t speak for the past, but at the moment I should think he’s quite pleased.”   “Of course I would like all three of those sorted by the end of the season,”

“But it’s not easy. We’re all on a great season, maybe we’ll wait until the summer and get the season out of the way and see where we go. It’s all to play for.”

It wouldn’t be good to delay the contract negotiations,  but it must be that there are some problems with the deals, otherwise they would go through, and it’s much like kicking the can down the road to delay negotiations.

And of course Danny Simpson only has to delay through the summer, and he’s into his last year of his contact.

Newcastle will not want him to see out his contract and leave next year as a free agent, so if he doesn’t sign we have to think he’ll be sold in the summer – that still has to be  a possibility.

But it seems that it has been slow going on the contract front, and they may be delayed to ensure all efforts are directed into finishing out the season on a high note, and even qualifying for European competition.

That would be the icing on the cake for Newcastle this season, but why can’t the club  get some contracts wrapped up?

I hat the fact we are trying to find positives from that performance yesterday!

    There was none.

It was something that has threatend to happen on more than one occasion and we have been very lucky this season.

Without heavy squad investment with purchases and free transfers in the summer I really think next year could be a relegation battle.

We are too slow and our quality player carry the shit that’s spreads throughout the team.

Simpson is awful. I’ve always said it and now he is showing his true qualities. He must go.

Willo, perch, best, ameobi all shit.

Guthrie, guti, colo only good when the team is strong around them.

I really am not over reacting but selling any of the above and brining in cheap replacements and adind more depth is the way forward and I will be amazed if we finish top 10 THIS season.

We have been found out, simple as that. Expect every team to put packet strikers against our cb’s and a good winger against Simpson and see the results. Many more tottenhams, fulhams, norwichs etc… Still to come I fear

Not too worried about Simpson as we have Tavernier coming through and he is a star player, the Guthrie deal will depend on how the club view the progression of Abeid

I’m on the train one route back from the debacle last night…….

Outplayed, outclassed in every part of the pitch, made me laugh when pardew said afterwards that he played a too offensive team, think he meant formation as there was no one else who could have started!!

I would like to see him give some of the young lads a pop at some first team football e..g Abied , Ferguson and even HBA, obertan, jonas and perch look lacklustre for me. Lst nights game was not the game to judge all performances on but it did provide a few insights to our capability or not as the case May be!!

    Willo,
Is one of my favourite players after watching him debut in the Championship a couple of years ago,but I have changed my opinion of him being too good for the bench he isn’t really, and because of STaylors inability to last a full season I think a top quality CB rather than an up and coming is a must in the summer, hopefully if MA has the type of ambition that makes him spend 9M on a striker surely he knows that we need to strenghten all round,or do we have to put up with his learning curves in the footballing world for many years to come.

If we offload Xisco, Obertan, Shola and Simpson… that will be a good start for summer. But Pardew never well sold Shola because obviously he is the only guy who rates Shola. And Obertan… no way. He is Pardew’s transfer and his sale will meaning only one thing – Pardew will confess his fault… and after yesterday I’m sure that Pardew never will confess no matter what. Yesterday he try to take the blame but what was that

“We had a couple of good chances and gave ourselves some pride from that second half.”

What pride can we have after we was raped last night? Jeez…

Its a shame Joey Barton is a complete tool as a person, although good players have been brought in a player of his ability would be a bonus for any squad, even if he wasn’t first choice the amount of games he would have played due to injuries, suspensions and ACON would have been enough to justify his place in the squad, just a shame he can’t keep out of trouble.

To replace Simpson would cost £6m so sign him up, Guthrie is great alongside Tiote or Cabaye as back up so again keep him as he’s a valuable squad player and focus on shipping out Lovenkrands, Smith, Perch, Ranger and the others who add nothing.
Also, hasn’t Tavernier been told he’ll be released with Kadar – strange decision.
Generally we’re in a good place but need to figure which of the youngsters will come through (Gosling, Abeid, Vukic, Ferguson, Ameobi) and focus on getting them pitch time or let them go. We should also look at getting the likes of Streete and Hooper into the squad for pre-season.
Its about building the squad with a clear 22 and no ‘squad players’ to keep it competitive. Then the squad should be built with good youngsters beyond that.

Should point out by ‘squad players’ I mean the likes of Perch who are utility back ups, where as I see Guthrie as a direct CM replacement (otherwise my post made no sense)

Yeah would sell Simmo, Lovenkrands, Shola Ameobi.

Would release Ranger, Kadar, Xisco and Smith.

Keep Willo and Obertan and Best as squad players.

Would target a Left Back, then move Santon to Right Back, get in an experienced player to play at CB and get a versatile player like Rhys Williams if/when Boro do not get promoted.

We need some more depth out wide and another decent striker.

Willo was to blame for atleast 4 of the goals last night if i am right. Plus Simpson is just not good enough the first goal should have been taken care of by him. It was just to easy all of my fellow Newcastle united fans just to to easy and thats exactly what should have happened with the Blackburn game we were lucky then. With these top sides they punish you with defending like that which raises my point again about needed a new back for keep collo yes and Santon needs some time but the other 2 the need to be offloaded ASAP. We have been struggling in this department for a long time now guys and i think for us to challenge for europe on a regular we need a solid back for Samba in the summer would be a start for me i know he is older then their 26 policy buy come on who wouldnt want a tank like him solid in the back please i would like to hear how many fans wouldnt like to see him.

Some people on this blog don’t have a clue. Don’t get rid of anyone, keep them all and make decent signings. Here is a list of players we should defo keep: Simpson, Williamson, Obertan, Perch, Guthrie, Raylor, Best, Shola.
We should sign players better than them, and all of them can be squad player back-ups rather than rotating starters. If we qualify for Europa we’re going to have at least 10 more games, plus cup runs so we need an extra large squad.
Instead of screaming for players leaving the club, keep them all, sign players better than them and have this line up:

    Krul
    Santon – Colo – Taylor/Yanga-Mbiwa – Pieters
    Marveaux – Cabaye – Tiote – Gutierrez/Ben Arfa/Hoilett
    Demba – Demba

Plus any of these subs: Elliot / New Keeper, Simpson, Tavernier, Guthrie, Abeid, Raylor, Obertan, Sammy, Ferguson, Best, New Striker, Knockaert, Shola.

comments on here are over the top! we’ve had 2 bad games recently in terms of fulam and spurs there only blips. we showed we can dominate in the first half against fulam, we should get rid of, Lovenkrands, Ameobi shola, smith, perch, obertan, xisco, simpson, harper, guti, and bring in, douglas, cissoko, clyne, zaha, holliet, r.williams, rhodes.if we cant get holiet then try and I say TRY get shaquri 9m being quoted for him to galatasray surely we can afford that! IF colo leaves then get samba and make him captain,

    team for next season

    Krul

    santon, douglas, colo/samba, cissoko

    holliet, tiote, cabaye, zaha

    ba cisse

    Subs,
    elliot
    s.taylor
    clyne
    williams
    marvieax
    ben arfa
    rhodes

    2nd team,

    Krul
    clyne, taylor, samba, santon
    marvieax, williams, cabaye, ben arfa

    ba, rhodes

    subs,
    elliot
    douglas
    cissoko
    vuckic

JC148 for us to be a top side again we have to rebuild and we have done a great job so far we really have but alot of players are just not fitting in the squad and they are taking us a step back . Nobody expected us to be in the top 6 this time of the season its been an amazing season and i for one really respect the work AP has done. It will take time to get back to the good old days and as fans we must accept this. We saw tott’ham defense last night solid and we need the same its no point scoring 3 goals and then conceding 5 goals in a game lol lets be serious. Mike Ashley has won over alot of fans we didnt like him at first but he has done what we all wanted got the supporters happy again got the PL talking about us again. Will love to see the summer transfers a few right buys and we can be a regular in the top 6 slowly slowly people slowly slowly.

Simpson should be allowed to run down his contract in the reserves, coz he is not good enough to be in the first team, and perhaps he might start working on the areas of his game which need improved. Like all of it.

    jaynufc1989:

Good idea to pick a team like that. just stick in seven or eight players who in all honesty will be playing for some other team in some other country but lets not let that get in the way.
Alternatively, we could pick a team based upon the players we have, or possibly MIGHT get, rather than some drug fuelled fantasy of just writing down the names of footballers because they have looked good on FIFA or playstation. C*ck.

Cafu Beckenbauer Baresi Maldini (see time machine)
Tiote (token ACTUAL NUFC footballer) Cabaye (See Tiote) Dirk Higginbottom (a youth product from Barnsley 2025: See time machine), Terry Hibbitt.
Malcolm Macdonald Demba Ba Johan Cruyff

Also, in my fantasy team, we are allowed to have 12 players, one of whom shall be employing a cloak of invisibility.

Your stupid fella, most of them players ive put down are avaliable on FREES and the ones that arnt wouldnt cost no more then 6m each, totally with in our budget and wouldnt ask for big wages, clyne, douglas, holliet all FREE, rhodes 4m. samba 5m williams 5m zaha 6m totaling 23m but with the sales we’d spend around 10m only maybe you should look at the team and see I left alot of KEY players in the team which we need to build around, Krul, santon, tiote, cabaye, ba, cisse I left ALL these in we need a new full back and CB 2 CBS if colo leaves, we need 2 good attacking wingers who can get past full backs cut inside and give a good final ball and occasonaly score goals and have room to improve guti scores 1 or 2 a season.. and his final balls arnt great we need someone to create chances other then cabaye … this is no dream team its very resonable a few players from the lower leagues who can progress, williams, rhodes, zaha, clyne and a few extras. so next time you call it ‘ fantasy’ actually wake up and think about what your saying

“That’s more than some of us were feeling, after Newcastle’s horror show in the first half, but it’s only one game”

Yes its only one game but

    a) its embarrassing for the players and the fans
    b) its not the only time we’ve had our pants taken down and spanked
    c) will Pardwho ever learn from these games

We were like rabbits caught in the headlights yesterday probably because we were 2-0 down before people had got their programmes out ! Then the mental side took over and we could have gone home early at half time and still let in less goals.

Pardwho has to learn from this debacle otherwise he needs to think seriously about his future ability to manage a top class side, something he’s never been capable of 🙁
