Vuckic And Ferguson Called Up In Full International Squads

Good news today that Newcastle’s top 19 year-old central midfielder, Haris Vuckic, has been included for the first time in the full Slovenian squad.

Haris Vuckic gets first call up by Slovenia

And 20 year-old Shane Ferguson has been called up by the full Northern Ireland side to play Norway on 29th February, although Shane has one cap already for Northern Ireland, having played in the 3-0 loss in Italy back in the summer of 2009.

The 19-year-old Ljubljana-born Vuckic has played four times for the U21 side, and has also played at U17 and U19 level, but never at the full International level, and it’s good news that Haris is included in the squad to play Scotland on 29th February.

Vuckic is currently on loan at Cardiff City, where he has so far appeared three times with two starts for the  Welsh club, and the 6’3″ midfielder scored his first senior goal ever in English football, when he scored Cardiff’s third goal last Tuesday night against Peterborough in the  3-1 victory.

Other Newcastle players who will be on International duty later this month are Yohan Cabaye, Papiss Cisse, Davide Santon and Tamas Kadar.

Cabaye will be in the French squad to play in Germany, and Papiss  Cisse will be in the squad to play in South Africa, and forgotten man – 21 year-old Tamas Kadar – is in the full Hungary squad to face Bulgaria in Gyor.

The good news is that top Newcastle striker Demba Ba is not included in the Senegal squad this time around.

And of course we now know that Kadar will not have his contract renewed on Tyneside when it runs out at the end of June –  Tamas has two full caps so far for Hungary.

Davide Santon will again be playing for the Italy U-21 side in their friendly match against France in Cannes – again on the 29th February, which is a week  tomorrow.

its good that these players are being recognised internationally. what isn’t good is that its 3/4days before the effing derby! rather we had a fit cisse, cabaye and santon ready for the match, we just need to hope none of them gets a knock.

Scottishtoon95 – Yeah it could be, it looks like that. Maybe he had an attitude problem ala Ranger. The kid that’s bugged me most for leaving was Lua Lua to Brighton. I always thought he was good enough for at least as a squad player. Oh well in Pardew and co I trust.

Pretty safe to say Cisse wont be starting after flying back from South Africa! Make way for Shola, after all it is the only two games a season he serves a purpose

I think it is ridiculous to have these friendlies midweek before a full weekend of league fixtures. Some of our players will be travelling throughout Europe and South Africa in Cisse’s case. At least we are not playing until Sunday – can’t remember how many internationals the mackems have – can’t be many 😉

Can I just say following on the last story on the theme of transfers, how much money we’ll have too spend in the summer without selling anybody?

    I reckon 7M max myself.

Also i agree these Senegal friendlies are a joke, but I reckon Cisse will start just because the match is a sunday, extra days rest.

maybe kadar is immense but pardew falls asleep whilst watching the reserves and can be only heard by carver and donachie as saying “blwsa…shola on the bench…bsdj…perch at cm…dswqd…f-ck you hatem don’t steal my magic beans…

Scottishtoon95 @12 Sessegnon plays for an African team but I’ve just looked on the Mackem website (not an experience I want to repeat) and there is no mention of him being called up which is a bit of a shame. Like you I think he is one of their best players along with Larsson.

Either way I dont think Sessegnon is playing. At least the Ivory Coast match is postponed so Mr T. does not have to travel.

wikipedia has benin as dissolving their national team but fifa has them playing games… i know nigeria dissolved theres after world cup 2010 but reinstated it after a couple weeks! Personally hope sessegnon gets a rest and goes into the derby all guns blazing at his best, then the mackems have no excuses when we beat them again!

Look at his goal scoring record and qualities at the bottom, he’s only 22

We stuffed Manchester United, who beat nearly every team in the league.

That doesn’t mean we’re the best in the league does it….

    Not how football works 😐

Tottenham drew away to Stevenage – going away to crap little grounds with horrible fans, horrible changing rooms and getting kicked for 90 minutes can’t be easy for anyone.
