Doncaster In Pole Position To Get Mehdi Abeid On Loan

We were pleased to see 19 year-old Haris Vuckic loaned out to Cardiff City a couple of weeks ago,  and he has already played for the Welsh side three times.

Mehdi Abeid – top young Newcastle midfielder may go to Doncaster

And Newcastle manager Alan Pardew at the time said they were also looking to loan out out other top central midfielder Mehdi Abeid, who has started for Newcastle twice this season.

News today that Doncaster Rovers are one of a number of  Championship clubs who are interested in taking the French-born youngster on loan.

Alan Pardew is keen that his up and coming youngsters get regular games, and we already have Fraser Forster and James Tavernier out on loan, in addition to Vuckic.

Alan Smith is also seeing out his contract on loan at MK Dons, which is where Tavernier is at the moment.

Newcastle have already let it be known to Championship clubs, that Abeid is available to go out on loan, and there has apparently been a good response to that.

Dean Sanders, the former Newcastle United coach, has been keen to bring in loan players since he took over the job last year at Doncaster, and they already have former Newcastle right back  Habib Beye at the club.

Leeds United are also understood said to be interested in Abeid, and they have recently lost loanee Fabian Delph, who is out of action for the rest of the season.

But with Leeds United currently without a manager, we wonder if the Board will go ahead and bring in a loan player before they appoint the new manager.

Sacked manager Simon  Grayson was appointed as the new Huddersfield manager yesterday, after former Newcastle player and coach Lee Clark had been surprisingly fired at the Yorkshire club.

Billy Davies, the former Preston, Derby County and  Nottingham Forest manager seems in the frame to get the Leeds United  job.

Mehdi  has started two games for Newcastle this season,  in the League Cup win at Nottingham Forest and the FA Cup defeat of Blackburn Rovers at St. James’ Park and Newcastle have high hopes for the Algerian U23 International.

And Pardew had this to say about his young gun:

“We are trying to get Abeid out. He needs to play regular football for us.”

It wouldn’t surprise us if Newcastle reach a deal to send Abeid to Doncaster before Saturday, when Rovers entertain Peterborough United at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Shane Ferguson may also be sent out on loan to get some playing time, but with his promising form in the second half at White Hart Lane, he may get some playing time in the Newcastle first team, before the end of the season.

It will be good for both him and Newcastle if he went out on loan.

I was under the impression that Neil Warnock had taken the Leeds job? Also rumours we’ve signed a French 22 year-old from French League 2 side.

Not claiming to be an ITK but gonna throw this out there anyway. A friend of mine who is a spuds season ticket holder and has friends inside the club is adamant that spuds are gonna sign Tim Krul. He’s been right about things before but really hope he’s wrong this time. I personally can’t see why he would want to leave but there’s my 2 pence worth. Thoughts?

I’d be really pleased if Abeid gets chance to grab a few games in the championship, it is often the making of a kid. I think the likes of Vuckic and Sammy will be good enough to be loaned to a Prem club next year, that would really bring them along, ala Sturridge/Wilshere.

In terms of the summer, how can we not presume Douglas will arrive? Tall, solid centre back, not African, 24 years old, and free!

@toonboy – wouldn’t surprise me! Spurs is a very attractive club and rumours down here (London) are that they’re gonna spend big in the summer funded by not spending this season and selling van ser vaart to man Utd (another rumour) reckon itd take 20m + tho! We’ve been linked alot with vorm at Swansea, if we sold krul I think wed need premier league experience as goalkeepers seem to struggle to adapt

Leeds or Donny would be a great move for Mehdi, he’d get some good starts and hopefully come back next season in good knick to challenge for a first team place. Fergie should get a loan as well maybe to Donny again, i hope Donny can stay up.

Off topic looks like Wolves are struggling to find a manager:
    http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Wolves-set-to-turn-to-Walter-Smith-ex-Everton-and-Rangers-boss-as-new-manager-article869043.html
Also we had a discussion a few days ago about whether Sessignon had an internatonal match before the Derby match. Well according to BBC Newcastle this morning he does – a qualifying match in Ethiopa!

toonboy@8 there has been a lot of speculation over the last months about krul and spurs. I understand they did have reps at one game this season , however , it has cooled lately , but i did hear that negotiations of some form had took place. true or not,? i dont know.my betting IF krul moved onit would be to spurs. The other option could be chelsea . IMO Cech is nearing the end of his chelsea days, So maybe they would be a good move for him as i think in summer there will be a major clean out there and fresh talent arriving.

Sometimes you have to throw the youngsters in the deep end they could play 1st team now must be very fustrating I cant understand how perch was getting game time ahead of vuckic, abeid, fergie if they are the future your going to have to play them sometime if we go and buy more midfielders in the summer it makes it harder again for these guys.
