As expected Newcastle’s three returning players Yohan Cabaye, Cheick Tiote and Ryan Taylor are all back in the starting line-up this afternoon, for Newcastle’s game at home to Wolves.
As expected Ryan Taylor is preferred to Ben Arfa and Gabby Obertan on the right wing, and Cabaye and Tiote return to the side in central midfield at the expense of Danny Guthrie and James Perch, who are both on the bench.
Even after the 5-0 hammering last time out, the back five is again unchanged, and they will get a chance this afternoon to show it was just a blip in London a couple of weeks ago.
The bench is a strong one with Rob Elliot, Shane Ferguson, James Perch, Danny Guthrie, Gabriel Obertan, Hatem Ben Arfa, Shola Ameobi.
And we expect Alan Pardew to use all three substitutes allowed his afternoon, which is vital game for the Magpies, if we are going to get back on track after two five goal hammerings in our last four league games.
Newcastle need to somehow get all 3 points this afternoon, and that’s what we are hoping for, and anything less will be a disappointment.
Howay The Lads!!

Newcastle (4-4-2): Tim Krul; Danny Simpson, Mike Williamson, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Davide Santon; Ryan Taylor, Cheick Tiote, Yohan Cabaye, Jonas Gutierrez; Papiss Cisse, Demba Ba

Comment #41Who is name calling fellow posters? Indian a lot of people respect Pardew, just because you don’t like a particular brand of football he plays does not mean you have a right to insult him, and if you do insult him some people are going to be offended so you have to appreciate that

Comment #46Cupidstunt – for a start that doesn’t even make sense, and obviously my comment wasn’t there to defend everyone and anyone who has a views against Pardew/ his team selection and tactics. Merely those who do have opposing views but are willing to debate them reasonably.
Please engage your brain before replying with totally irrelevant comments.

Comment #47Spitfire chill out. The reason I took it that way was because the Newcastle United squad is much stronger than the Wigan squad. N’Zogbia played for Wigan last season as a matter of necessity, they needed him to score and create goals because without him they would be destroyed, we don’t need HBA the same way that Wigan needed N’Zogbia but if you refuse to see the merit in what I am saying then that is your call.

Comment #50I see the usual vitriol is being spouted on here on the cusp of a match when EVERY fan should be getting behind the TEAM.
Debate all you like afterwards. At least have the dignity and support to get behind the 11 players on the team sheet, whoever they are, they are Newcastle United. And that goes for the manager too.

I can honestly say you check through my posts and you will never find me calling players names nor the management, I have followed the club for over half a century and have seen us a lot worse that we are right now.
I do think this is some of your problem you started following the club when they were successful and that success is what you expect to continue and you get angry when it doesn’t.
Check back through the history of the club and you will see that this period is quite promising for that I am happy.
But that apart I never call NUFC players names unless they turn their back on the club and even then they are not worth the effort.

you are right about Benny.. I agree!
Though, he has already shown, that he is ready for some more playing time.. And today against Wolves, would be perfect for him to start side by side with Tioté and Cabaye..
Then subbed after 60 mins, to rest him after the goalshow from the two african lads in front..
But i guess the last 30 mins will have to do.. I hope he will be on for 30 mins..

Comment #56Indian I do remember and I appreciate that, but you have to realise that we cannot make these debates on this forum a personal issue, and if you insult Pardew on a personal level some people are not going to be happy.
Right lads let’s keep sight of what is important, we are less than 30mins away from the first game of football for NUFC in 2 weeks! I’m buzzing, let’s forget the HBA debate and the whole Pards slagging and unite behind the black and white the lads need us together!!!

Yes, it’s a negative adjective, well done. But what does it mean? Are you implying he leeches in some way? Because that doesn’t make any sense.

Comment #77TBH we don’t play pure hoofball in a limited 4-4-2. We’ve mixed it up a lot more than just banging it upfield to Carroll this season.
Sometimes under pressure the defence need to clear their lines upfield and there is nothing wrong with some 50-60 metre passes to the no9 as long as it isn’t route 1 all aftternoon
We’re actually pretty decent at the passing game – we had a lovely ten minute spell at Liverpool where it really flowed with 30+ passes – only the final product missing then in a pretty crap overall performance. We’re lucky in having not only our first choice ACM Cabaye but our second choice Guthrie being sweet passers of the ball and some good dribbling by the wingers and HBA even if final ball might need improving. We are not Stoke and Pardew is not Allardyce. We can turn it on….we really can and its about time we dumped somebody

What doesn’t make sense?
You slag magpiesflyinghigh for his sarcasm when he was merely highlighting the senseless negative postings of several posters, and in that time Indian magpie posted basic negative posts with no rationale connected to them in the very style that “mfh” was alluding to.
By the way the brain is engaged and the comment is relevant.
