Coloccini Wants To Play In Champions League With Newcastle

Fab Coloccini has just signed a new four and a half year deal to stay at Newcastle though the summer of 2016.

Fab Coloccini – wants to play Champions League with Newcastle

And the Newcastle captain has been interviewed on nufcTV today, and Coloccini explained his ambition has always been to compete in Europe in the Champions League with Newcastle United:

“When I came here in the first year, in my first interview I said I wanted to play in the Champions League with Newcastle United,” “Maybe people thought I was crazy, but that is my dreams.”

“We are in a good way, and if we keep going like this – hard working and with the Club going this way – then it is maybe possible.” “I don’t know if it will be next year or a couple of years, but we can be fighting with the top teams.”

“It is an important day because I wanted to sign here and the Club wanted me to stay, so I am very happy,” “A lot of things made me want to sign here and I can stay for a long time, so it is going to be important for me and for my career.”

“If I can finish this contract then I am going to have a lot of years at Newcastle United and that is massively important for me with such a big team.”

The former Deportivo La Coruna and AC Milan center-back is a firm favorite with the fans,  and already a bit of a folk hero on Tyneside, and he certainly has been in top form for Newcastle this season.

The negotiations have been going on with Colo for a couple of months,  and Newcastle fans will be delighted that he has signed his new deal on Tyneside, and will now be at Newcastle with his Argentine colleague Jonas Gutierrez until the summer of 2016.

And since Fabricio is the highest paid player at the club,  Newcastle must be able to  shell out the money when they have to – to keep their top players at the club.

This is good news for Newcastle, the day before the derby game with Sunderland – and now we have to win the game tomorrow.

just might get his chance! reckon we’ll be a lot closer to 4th next season as we’ll simply add to our side and compliment it with the core – Krul, collo, tiote, cabaye, ba and cisse already here whereas Liverpool and Chelsea will spend 50-100m changing it all up meaning they won’t gel as quickly etc! All depends on what happens with managers though because if redknapp leaves spurs and AVB leaves chelsea it depends on who comes in! a Jose mourinho team would be nailed on for top 4

This truly fantastic news for the club glad to hear we’ll be seeing colo leading the lads out for a few more seasons and krul beating away shots left right n centre at the back for us!
Do think this means the end for simmo n guthrie tho, think simmo wants to much n guthrie just wants 1st team football which u cant knock the lad for. As guthries out of contract in the summer am i right think other clubs were allowed to talk to him directly as of january? Can he sign a pre contract with some1?

This can do nothing but help re-signing our own and signing new players. It shows the ambition that AP keeps say MA has. IMO MA continues to show that he does want to win, but it has to be done the right way. Props to all involved and may the good news continue throughout the summer.

I believe that only clubs from other leagues can negotiate with him. Teams in the EPL have to wait.

good news on the contracts shows the ambition of the club. What team do you think pardew will pick tomorrow, personally i feel he will start with the same team he picked for wolves. Anyone know a good link for the liverpool arsenal game??

Little late to the party but AMAZING news that Colo and Krul have signed new deals. Both are Key players for this club and it shows that we do want to hold onto our best players. Yes they will still have their price in the transfer market but the new deals mean they are MUCH more valuable now. Krul would be worth £15-£20 Million in MA’s book now, one of the best GKs in the Prem, same goes for Colo. Over the moon with this news this morning.

    solano … where are you.

    Seen the news this morning?

The unambitious Ashley who signed Cisse for £10M in Jan has now signed up Krul and Colo on 5 year contracts.

How much more unambitious do you want Ashley to get?

If we can keep making shrewd signings, keep our better players and flesh this squad out a bit then there’s no reason to doubt that we could – could – be playing Champion’s League football within the next 3 seasons. It’s a massive ask because of the quality of the clubs competing for top 4 finishes; even the top 6 is now a fiercely contested area. It’s a lot to achieve given who’s there around us, but we’re in better shape to do it now than we have been in a long time.
