Great News – Coloccini And Krul Sign New Newcastle Contracts

Great news today that captain Fabricio Coloccini and goalkeeper Tim Krul committed their long-term futures to Newcastle United.

Fab Coloccini and Tim Krul with manager Pardew today in his office

Center-back Coloccini has signed a four and a half year deal that keeps him at Newcastle until June 30, 2016, and top young  goalkeeper Tim Krul will be on Tyneside until the summer of 2017, after quickly agreeing to a five and a half year deal.

An obviously delighted Newcastle manager Alan Pardew had this to say:

“These are two fantastic deals for the club, and we are all absolutely delighted.” “To secure new contracts for Fabricio and Tim, two pivotal players at the club, is terrific news for all concerned, not just ahead of the derby but for the long-term future of the club.

“It underlines the importance that we as a club place on building and retaining top-class talent, and it demonstrates the intent of Newcastle United to be major players in the Premier League.”

“I would also like to place on record my thanks to Mike Ashley and Derek Llambias for their hard work and continued financial backing in ensuring these deals were completed.”

“We now turn our attentions to tomorrow’s big game, boosted by this news – which I hope gives our incredible fans a huge lift too – and with the confidence to really make this a season to remember.”

This is huge for Alan Pardew because he seemed genuinely concerned that he may lose some of his players, but he has these top two defenders signed up, and all credit to Newcastle for getting the job done.

Coloccini, 30, joined Newcastle in August 2008 from Deportivo La Coruna, and we had heard he was offered a five and half year deal,  but there was haggling because in the final year he took a pay cut.

But it seems they have agreed on a deal without that final year – so that sounds good to us.

Tim Krul – signs on through the summer of 2017

Krul arrived on Tyneside from Dutch side ADO Den Haag in July 2005, aged 17, when Graeme Souness was the manager, and he has broken through to the first team this season,  and has been in magnificent form for the Magpies.

And Tim has said today that on the Newcastle web-site that he just loves Newcastle United and is delighted to sign the new contract.

This is good news indeed.

For the record Coloccini has played 144 times for Newcastle with 5 goals, and Tim has 64 first team appearances so far and of course the Dutch lad made his debut for Holland last summer.

The two players who are currently still in contract negotiations with the club are Danny Guthrie and Danny Simpson.

Phew, l thought Collo was on his way. Great news and we can really concentrate on closing out a great season and bringing in the new players we need to move us up a level next season.
Congratulations to the club and the two lads for proving to be real team players.

Fools – it’s all a plot by Ashley so that he can get more for them when they’re sold in the summer, moan whinge. Mutter mutter Ben Arfa mutter mutter Ameobi mutter mutter Pardew mutter mutter Simpson.
(That should cover today’s blogs OK. Or did I forget something?)

Fantastic news and for me i think this probably underlines the cut-throat treatment that the youth have faced. Its clear Colo and Krul are fantastic players and should be kept on and I believe that Simpson and Guthrie will probably move on (good luck to them). I think we’ve shown how essential it is to have a good spine, so if we can add some depth in these areas it’ll be fantastic. And as for Indian, i wouldn’t normally do this but…cut him some slack, in a round-about way he was saying that we need to guard even more against complacency, whilst it SHOULD give us a lift, we can’t take that for granted!

Now then … where is solano?

Another one of our young top players Krul signed up on a long term contract and non too young Collo gets a 4.5yr contact.

Bang goes solano’s theory yet again about the feeder club that sells young players and won’t give contracts to over 27’s.

And of course … lets not forget that Krul and Collo have signed becasuse we are an unambitious feeder club hell bent on only settling for relegation escaping 4th from bottom mediocrity.

Yet again – Ashley proves his critics are TOTALLY WRONG is what his ambitions are for NUFC.

Players like Krul and Collo know how ambitious Ashley, Llambias and Pardew are – thats why they signed up – and its about time some of the whinging delusional fans on here woke up and smelpt the coffee.

For the first time in years – our club is moving forward with real direction, conviction and determination with a great team spirit that includes everybody right down from the owner to the tealady.

    Fantastic, absolutely FANTASTIC !!

Great! 🙂 Krul is a great GK. Suprised about the 4 years for Colo but hey, if the accountants didn’t say it is bad business, then it is good business and we can pay him the money. Just was not sure because he is getting older now, going to be 34 in the end of this contract. Anyway, happy happy.

Not sure about Simmo. Don’t think that he is the best we can get. He is maximum a backup so, even if he signs, hope we have a better one to step in in front of him. Guthrie is a good player, but still not a top 6 in my opinion. Again, he is a backup player.

Sign Ba up to rid that clause from his contract (if it exists at all), get Guthrie on a new deal (as long as it works for the club), sell simmo and promote tavernier to back up RB for whoever we sign in the summer.

Sign free agents, young players and cheap imports and we will be a fantastic team. The next step is to play the bet players, use the correct tactics and pass the ball around to dominate lesser teams.

It could happen and this may be a huge statement of intent. Hopefully we will get some much needed investment in the summer! If we do we are on the up.

The next window is the biggest in the clubs history without any shadow of a doubt.

@ 10 – nah sessegnon isn’t back yet! He gets back today sometime though! Rumour is he will be up front on his own tomorrow because o’niell is wary that his usual 2 centre mids of Colback and Cattermole would get overrun by mr T and cabaye! Usually they play 4-4-1-1 but tomorrow it’ll be more of a 4-5-1 with 2 defensive midfielders! Probs watched how wolves gained control of the midfield with the extra man!

@dutchy – lets hope that doesn’t happen! The coach at Milan forced him to cut his hair a few years back, he was like half the player, i think its the source of his power! Joking aside, he’s quite bitter about it all and regards it as the low point in his career

    @indian u guessed right
Anyway ignoring the ‘neggars’ this truly fantastic news for the club glad to hear we’ll be seeing colo leading the lads out for a few more seasons and krul beating away shots left right n centre at the back for us!
Do think this means the end for simmo n guthrie tho, think simmo wants to much n guthrie just wants 1st team football which u cant knock the lad for. As guthries out of contract in the summer am i right think other clubs were allowed to talk to him directly as of january? Can he sign a pre contract with some1?

Probable Krul’s is close, maybe closer to 45K. Colo was suupposedly on 75K to 85K before so I would say he is at least 75K.

And don’t forget … its just an Ashley ploy to wind us up blah blah … Obetans is still $hite splutter, splutter … you can’t keep finding cheap gems like Tiote, Cabaye, HBA, Ba, Santon every time you sell them blah, blah … i’ll always hate Ashley even if we win the Prem,FA Cup and Champs Lge splutter, splutter …

I bet theres a few more though.

Awesome. That means people will have to pay us money now to get Krul and Colo instead of getting them for free.

Frankly I worry for Newcastle. We don’t nearly have enough squad depth to not embarrass ourselves in Europe or not drop down the table because of Europe like Fulham and Stoke. Yet if we don’t go to Europe, quality players like Ba and Tiote will surely drift away to hungry European teams, especially teams like Liverpool, Tottenham and Chelsea who has been eyeing our players a lot nowadays.

Just a side note, Alan, Tim and Fab look like they signed the contract in Tim’s bedroom or something.
