Cisse Passes Fitness Test And Starts – Newcastle Unchanged

Papiss Cisse has passed his fitness test and will start for Newcastle in today’s Tyne-Wear derby against Sunderland at St. James’ Park.

The team is unchanged from that which started last week against Wolves, but could only get a 2-2 draw.

And Newcastle have a very strong bench – Rob Elliot, James Perch, Danny Guthrie, Gabriel Obertan, Hatem Ben Arfa, Peter Lovenkrands, Shola Ameobi – and we expect Shola Ameobi and Ben Arfa to get some playing time some time during the second half.

Sunderland manager  Martin O’Neill has recalled Nicklas Bendtner up front to partner the dangerous Stephane Sessegnon and Phil Bardsley is fit and starts at right back.

This is a game Newcastle must win and cannot lose, and we need the three points so we can get up to joint 5th place in the Premier League table and also do the double over Sunderland of course.

Howay The Lads – get the job done!!

Teams:

Newcastle United (4-4-2): Krul; Simpson, Williamson, Coloccini (c),Santon; Taylor (R), Cabaye, Tiote, Gutierrez; Cisse, Ba
Substitutes: Elliot, Perch, Guthrie,Obertan, Ben Arfa, Lovenkrands, Ameobi (Sh)

Sunderland Mignolet, Bardsley, Richardson, O’Shea, Turner, Larsson, McClean, Cattermole (C), Gardner, Sessegnon, Bendtner.
Subs: Gordon, Bridge, Campbell, Kilgallon, Colback, Vaughan, Meyler.

Peoplw wonder why some of us fans are so “unhappy” at Pardew but for christ sakes he is playing the same team AGAIN.

You see the I could manage the lies even over the interviews etc, but the sheer stubbornness with be his own undoing. But anyhow, hope we smash the Mackem filth today, I I reckon this is a good point in the season now for us to TURN THE TIDE…. we need to break this little rot of ours and start performing like Q1 wins wise…

So Sunderland are playing 4411? Tell tiote to stay with sessegnon . I’m slightly annoyed because Raylor was ineffective last week. ( as much as I admire him he shouldn’t be starting every game. A few were saying yesterday that we have a higher win% with overan at rm than Raylor, and we’re saying even though he plays crap he makes the opposition more defensive. However Raylor rarely ever beats his man.

    Very interesting – good work.
I like the ideas of ‘pressure’ on the ball, very important.
Not enough good crosses, – and everybody looses possession at times – worst crime of all!

    Sess VS Willo oh f##k!

Raylor starting shows straight away we are going for the long ball tactic once again.

Who would of thought at this part of the season our RW would have been Raylor over HBA and Oba?

It goes too show Pards is more interested in having a midfield of 4 defensive players than going all out attack. Keegan would have gone with HBA,Oba and as many strikers as he could.
With a defence is as poor as ours why try too defend? ATTACK!

Urgh, Raylor and Simmo on the right together again, we possess no threat from one side of the pitch AGAIN!

Away from home i know why we do it, protect against attacking home side, but at home against anyone not in the top 4 we should be a lot more attacking and possess a threat from both sides of the pitch.

I predict Santon as the most dangerous attacking threat today for us and Will and Simmo to send down at least 20-30 long balls over the 90 minutes which we win about 3 or 4 and all which lead to nothing….

I really hope im wrong btw. HWTL

After watching that first half with noting everything that is going on, I saw that people are not only wrong about Cabaye for example, but that they just expect from his something that he is tactically not asked to do. He is pressuring all over the pitch and not giving the other team a run, but he is just not playing a CM for us, not a play maker or anything like that. Him and Tiote, and Also Cisse pressured all 45 mins, was great to notice that.

Mayeb Taylors experience and defensive capabilities will come in handy. But Personally I dont really think Simmo needs that much baby sitting.

This whole, we need 2 wingers that play as defenders is a joke. In theory i think Pardew thinks its meant to stop us leaking goals. In reality it means we have to rely on our strikers and Cabaye to create chances for themselves and lessen our attacking threat and hope to sit on top of 1-0 or 2-0 leads when we get them.

we need to either play obertan or Benny and let them learn their trade through games. Or swithc formationg to a 4-3-3.

Its clear we will never go back to 4-5-1 with both dembas now
