Newcastle Interested In Napoli Central Midfielder

News from talkSPORT today that Newcastle are in a three-way fight to sign Napoli’s Blerim Dzemaili this summer.

Blerim Džemaili – Napoli  central midfielder

The 25 year-old central midfielder was born in Tetovo in the old Yugoslavia, and he was signed by Napoli only last summer from Parma,  and the 5’11” player has 15 caps for Switzerland.

The transfer fee was reported as €9M, which is around £7.5M with today’s exchange rate, so if Newcastle are indeed to sign this player they will have to pay out some decent money.

The  right footed player was at Bolton from 2007 through 2009,  but didn’t do well at all and ion 2009 he moved to Italian club Torino , after being on loan there the previous season, and he stayed at the Italian club for a year before moving to Napoli.

German clubs Borussia Monchengladbach and Stuttgart are also said to be interested in the midfielder, who has helped Napoli be successful in the European Champions League.

Napoli hold a 3-1 lead over Chelsea in the first leg of the round of the last sixteen, with the second leg being played next week.

Dzemaili is contracted to Napoli until 2015 but Newcastle are reported to  bid decent money for the player in the summer, and it would take around £8M for Newcastle to get this player, who turns 26 next month.

Dzemaili has appeared 28 times for Napoli this season,  including six games in the Champions League,  and he has two goals and two assists.

Džemaili’s family come from Bogovinje and are of Albanian heritage, and when he was just four years old,  his family migrated to Zürich in Switzerland.

    NOKIA APP

If you have a Nokia phone here’s an app written by reader Ricky Simpkin you can download.

It was written specifically for the Newcastle United Blog – many thanks to Ricky.

Good little player and would be a good signing alongside Tranquillo Barnetta who we may be getting on a free (unless he has died in the Malmassion)

I’m sure he was out for some time at Bolton with a nasty injury, which is why he obv didnt do “too well”

Possible replacement for Tiote as we all know he is leaving us in the summer, along with HBA, BA, Cabaye, Pardew, Krul, Colo etc 😉

In all seriousness how many ins and out in terms of the first team, do we predict in the summer?

    I reckon 5 outs, 7 ins.

A lot I know but I really think it is needed.

HAHA Beattie you are on top form today.

That made me chuckle. But honestly, if we do get him over the line, I cant see Krul fighting for his position anymore, and Rob Lee may have to fill in at RB when needed!

Raylor kept his LB place for 12 odd games because he DESERVED it…..but can someone please tell me what Raylor has done at RW…to deserve his RW place??

I am happy with Pardew with everything apart from this one position…and it could prove to be costly for us now….we have dropped 4 points in the last two games in my opinion.

It’s simple….if Pardew is adamant that Raylor should play then move him back to LB with Santon at RB…so that HBA can play RW and Simmo gets dropped. Otherwise….with a full strength team, Raylor has to take a place on the bench just like Guthrie…

I reiterate i cannot think of anything Raylor has offered at the RW position and it has resulted in us not scoring enough goals!!

Yeah it is lol! I think i have my footy manager head on today 🙂

    Not impossible though

Cant Pardew just click on ”Add new manager” Tahke over Man City and then Buy Nile Ranger for 100 mil,?

    Seems simple to me

I agree, he’s been our Mr. Utility this season, but he’s average player at best with a golden foot.
He’s actually our most dispossed player, over 250 times somewhere…

Exactly!….He is great…just like Guthrie…if we get major injuries…but atm we have a near full strength squad so he does not to deserve to start at RW.

Raylor cant run, should be dropped, no energy and one of the biggest reasons why we have been outplayed by the likes of scum and wolves, need pace in the modern game, he has non, and is therefore no real threat.

No doubt pardew will play him LB instead of Santon again, another one of the reasons why Pardew annoys the sh1t out of me.

How would you line up Monday? I’d go with

    —————-Krul—-
    Simpson–Collo–Willo–Santon
    ——–Tiote—-Cabaye—-
    HBA——————–Gutierrez
    ———Shola—-Ba

You have to reward Shola for that goal and from this fixture last year AC & Shola took the Arsenal centre backs apart, this isn’t a knock on Cisse at all but I think the lad needs a bit more time to settle. He can finish but needs to work on linking up which ironically is what we’ve always said about Shola.

HBA a no brainer after last week, he’s the type to relish a game like Arsenal.

On a sidenote despite their near heroics Arsenal must surely be delfated come Monday no? 3-0 up at half time and only needing one more they missed several good chances to win that tie so despite it being a “glorious failure”, failure it was.

it’s not a hard decision for Pardew to select first 11. Let me explain. 1.He wants to have Raylor in the team, because of set plays and defending, so he should be in the team.
    2. Santon is the best FB in the team, and he must be in the team. He is obviously the Starter.
    3. AP wants Benny in the team (his passing accuracy against Sunderland was something like 92% !!)

So these three reasons leaves the decision like that:
Simpson or Ben Arfa. Our defending wasn’t good recent times, nor our atacking, so it’s not a hard desicion, we won’t loose much if we change Raylor to Simpson (and if Santon is left on LB then HBA should also play LW jonas RM, but it’s easier to change just one position, leaving Raylor at LB and Santon instead of Simps.)

Shola is much better coming form the bench.

    my team:

    ——————————–Krul—————————

    Santon————-Willo————–Colo——–Raylor

    ———————————Tiote————————–

    Ben Arfa——————-Cabaye———————–Jonas

    ————————Ba————–Cisse——————–

in my view cabaye offers much more in a more attacking role, he’s vision of the play is very good, passing also, nice first touch, and his defensive work rate is one of the best in the squad. Jonas could protect Raylor a bit from Walcot. Ben Afra will score or assist to Demba’s. Ba Cabaye and Arfa will track back while defending. Everything will be ok if we ‘run at them’ control the ball, not they. Best defending is attacking.

right first things first i would like to get some things of my chest

firstly on the issue of danny simpson i like the guy seems down to earth but the bottom line is he is not good enough full stop i admit he tries hard is full of endevour but any decent winger with pace and a bit of intellegence can easily beat and that is a fact not an opinion.

secondly this debate about simpson/r taylor playing at right back is irrelevent as both are not good enough defenders i like taylor as i think he is more comfortable on the ball and has a bit more quality but in midfield as defenders they are not good enough and always needs babysitting which impacts us as an attacking force because as everyone can see we have no consistant service/threat coming from the wings because the wingers are too busy trying to cover the full back all the time thats why unless the strikers can create there own chances they struggle.

third point i like willo and some of the stick he gets is unfair because he has just come back injury and was rushed back in but i think the guy needs a rest now i understand people are saying with who to replace him with all i know is that unless you dont try and do something different at cb we are gonna be leaking goals and losing games so i think we have nothing to lose by trying something different if it doesnt work then put him back in after a rest.

hba needs to play full stop no ifs and buts it irratates the hell out of me when people say he loses the ball/doesnt track back etc etc there have been other players who have been playing poor for a while eg simpson and have kept there place while others have been made scapegoats cant have one rule for one and not the other. hba has more creativity than the whole of our midfield at times and i dont understand the stick he gets from some people.he is one of the most skilful players i have ever seen and i think people forget this and this is because he is not getting a decent run of games.

i love jonas one of my favorite players but i think he needs a rest he starting to look tired now and has been for a few games probobly all that tracking back he has to do for taylor to cover the full back has caught up with him because taylors not good enough to do his own job has one on one in defence

i like guthrie he a decent player but as for some people saying he should replace cabaye give your head a shake i admit for a few months when he had a run of games he stepped up to the plate and was playing some quality football probobly for the first time since hes been here hes playing like he should of been playing years ago but this love fest towards him a few weeks ago on this board by some posters was just so over the top its ridiculous i admit cabaye has had a dip in form but i think thats more to do with the players around him not pulling there weight rather than him being able to play his natural game which is further up the field supplying the forwards not protecting the back four because they cant absorb pressure.

we have a squad lets use it i think its time some other players got a chance to shine i know its not the ideal time to be trying players at the buisness end of the season but if pardew was clever he should have bedded in a few more players especally when others where playing poor but still kept there place we would not have this problem, ie players like abeid gosling fergie even pearch and obertan should be given there chances now because for a few months now we have been playing poorly and grinding out results trying to absorb pressure rather then give it out

and finally the next person who says shola should have taken that penalty i am going to flip out on it f*****g winds me up ba is our penalty taker and hasnt missed for us before that and has been our major source (if only source) of goals. everything is great in hindsight isnt it?

just had to get that of my chest thanks for reading opinons welcome

so i think we are all in agreement that HBA takes that RW position….so it’s a battle between Simmo and Raylor for the 11th starting spot in the team….Now all we need is to INCEPT this idea into Alan Pardew!!!
