Bad news today as Newcastle striker Peter Lovenkrands’ could be out for the season after picking up a thigh injury in training this week.
Peter Lovenkrands – could be out for the season
With Peter’s three year contract running out at the end of June, it could be that his appearance against Sunderland will be the last time he is seen in a Newcastle strip, as we expect him to become a free agent this summer.
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has confirmed the Danish International may not play again this season with what looks like a bad thigh injury:
“We have got a bad injury this week – Peter Lovenkrands has really hurt his thigh.” “We are not sure yet, but he’s definitely torn it and he might have ruptured it.”
“So we think that’s him for the season, actually, which is a very big blow for him with his contract up and everything.”
Lovenkrands joined the club as a free agent under former manager Joe Kinnear in January of 2009, and has played 84 times for the Magpies with 29 goals, and this season he scored 3 goals in his 11 appearances for the club.
This is not good news for either Newcastle or Peter.

Comment #4Really on the last article it shows what a mess the club and other clubs must be in, when years later we are still paying for Smith, Luque, and the likes, now we have a clean slate we should be able to offer slightly better wages and attract maybe slightly classier players, although we dont seem to be doing too bad currently with our existing wage policy.
The future is bright the future is red, blue and white. doh.

Comment #5Don’t do that, Toon Tang. Last time I did that the mouse joined a union group and demanded more humane working conditions. I told him, I said “Look, you’re a mouse, you can’t have humane working conditions” and the next thing I knew, it quit and I had to buy a new one.

Comment #6Leaves us relying on the Mackem Slayer for cover but it would be a disaster if it had happened to Colo or Willo.

Comment #7Dont think lovenkrands is a miss, at times (chelsea game) he has even been preferred to Ben Arfa, incredulous, his time has gone, but thanks for your efforts, shame you didnt join us when you were 18, very gud back then.

Comment #24Its some internet campaign by a less than reputable “charity” to put a stop to the atrocities committed by Joseph Kony, head of the LRA in sub-Saharan Africa. Lots of naive people have fallen for this viral video about it but if you do your research, there’s a lot of off-putting things about it.

Comment #25That means we have Cisse, Shola and Ba as out and out strikers.
A bit thin, but we’ll manage imo, especially if HBA gets a part to play.

Comment #27Looks like we may have seen the last of Mr Lovenkrands I think. I’m not sure him and shola were designed to last too far past the summer, if the recent signings and reserve/academy push are any indication. The club looks like it is determined to only fund high quality players at all levels instead of endlessly feeding the lower leagues with so-so players, so an injury like this to what is now a fringe player seems final. I for one appreciated his input, did a decent job at times, esp in the championship so best wishes to the lad.

Comment #32Haha! Ad love us to try and sign Luuk De Jong the commentators said before that hes scored 26 goals all together this season and hes only 21, wether he’d do it in the premier league is questionable, Doubt we will after signing Cisse like

Comment #35and that kony 2012 thing is a powerful video but that’s the point. only 30-odd percent of their money makes it to Africa and a lot of that percentage funds the ugandan army who are notorious for rape and murder. and Joseph kony isn’t even in Uganda any more.
just because it looks like Michael bay made their charity viral video it does not mean they are the only way to justice for kony

I wouldn’t touch him to be honest. There’s far too many examples of players with incredible scoring records in the Dutch league failing miserably over here.
Look at Suarez for instance :
159 in 111 in Holland, and not even 1 in 3 here.
And he’s genuinely one of the most successful!

Ah cool give us a good evaluation of both haha. I reckon we could be after de Jong in the summer considering we will be losing Pete and Ranger most likely (and I wouldn’t be shocked if Besty was moved on)
And there is the issue with Ba possibly leaving
More likely a cheaper option but u never know

Comment #40Obertan playing behind the striker tonght in the reserves. Be interested to see how he does there. I think could be a good position for him because crossing is obviously not a strong point.
Anybody there or wathcing? Hows he getting on?
