Only Jackie Milburn Ahead Of Shola Ameobi

Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul has sung the praises today of Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi.

Shola Ameobi puts it in – GOAL!!

Shola’s fantastic stoppage time equalizer against Sunderland was his seventh goal against the old enemy,  and only the great Jackie Milburn scored more goals against Sunderland for the Newcastle club.

Shola has been off form recently, and he was even sick last week and missed some of the preparation for the vital game, but that didn’t stop the lad from coming on and saving Newcastle from their first defeat at St. James’ Park against Sunderland for twelve years.

There’s no doubt that Shola deserves great credit for that, and of course he got the penalty too after 82 minutes that Demba Ba unfortunately missed.

This is what Tim said today on the Newcastle web-site:

“He always scores against them,” “It’s amazing.”  “What can you say? He’s a fantastic player and his physical presence is just incredible.”

“Shola made a real difference on Sunday.”  “He bullied them when he came on, and of course he scored again in the end so I’m delighted for him.”

Newcastle had Tim Krul to thank for some excellent saves during the game, and another competent performance in the Newcastle goal.

Tim congratulates  Shola at final whistle

After 54 minutes, just a couple of minutes before Sessegnon was sent off for stupidly elbowing Cheick Tiote, Tim made a fantastic double save, the second one stopped the ball with his left foot as it was crossing the line, and Sunderland missed a huge chance to go two goals up.

We hope that Shola finds some of his best form in the run-in to this season, and we need Shola’s goals and physical play along with that of Senegal strikers Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse.

If Newcastle can keep scoring the goals, then the lads have every chance of finishing 6th top in the Premier League this season.

Here’s hoping.

Good for Raylor probably deserves it on this years performance

Still would be happier to see Simmo and Guthrie sign up though.

However I do have this feeling we will be in for Martin in the summer considering his current clubs situation so if Guthrie is gone in the summer won’t be the biggest loss

Shola is a gud sub, but should never start, he is unfit and it does him no favours. Raylor should be the same ( a sub), surprised with a new deal for the lad, but he is decent backup i suppose in a number of positions, however if Pardewasaurus plays 442 at arsenal with Raylor in front of Simpson, i will have lost total patience with the man.

He should only play against the Mackems.. Against the Scums, he’s the first name on the teamsheet for me.

Colo from previous topic – sorry to hear about your job, it happened to me a couple of years ago and I sh*t myself but some of the internet job searches are a really good tool these days, don’t bother with job centre a complete waste of time (except to sign on of course).
Worth applying for Chelsea job – even if you make a complete horlicks of it you still walk away with £10m in your back pocket 😉

Shola should take all the penalty kicks in a Tyne Wear derby. I don’t care even if we signed Van Persie or Messi. There is only one person who is gonna take it.

His name is Shola ‘Mackem Slayer’ Ameobi. He must be allowed to break Milburn’s old record. (esp. after channeling Jackie’s spirit )

Personally would like to see Simpson Leave and replaced by top quality, if it frees up 25k a week to improve a top class players contract then let him go, he will be no loss as he is steady but uninspiring. Would put him behind players such as Aaron Hughes and Andy Griffin, and they were no super stars.

Raylor is a squad player at best imo. He’s signed a contract wich means he’ll stay until 2015 now, until his 30th birthday. Good strong squad player to have tho, he does posess that golden foot.

WWJBD – Well if we get that Butterfield ad imagine he’ll be Guthries replacement but if we get into europe a think we need atleast 5 more players without selling anyone, our squad is way to small

Aye true but Carr is trusted above all others it seems within the club and if Martins becomes available (which if they are relegated am sure he would be surely) I can see us jumping in to get him

Butterfield does seem decent though untested whereas u can’t say that about Martins

Shola Ameobi is a below average player. The fan who said he is a legend is totally BULLSH*T

Legends are like Shearer (who scores more than 200 NUFC goals) and Milburn (who scores 177 goals)

Apart from the “Tap-in” goal (which even Mike Ashley can do it easily) he done nothing since he was introduce in the mackems goal

Shola is a Good Newcastle United Backup Player – never a legend, NOT EVEN CLOSE.
