Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul has sung the praises today of Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi.
Shola Ameobi puts it in – GOAL!!
Shola’s fantastic stoppage time equalizer against Sunderland was his seventh goal against the old enemy, and only the great Jackie Milburn scored more goals against Sunderland for the Newcastle club.
Shola has been off form recently, and he was even sick last week and missed some of the preparation for the vital game, but that didn’t stop the lad from coming on and saving Newcastle from their first defeat at St. James’ Park against Sunderland for twelve years.
There’s no doubt that Shola deserves great credit for that, and of course he got the penalty too after 82 minutes that Demba Ba unfortunately missed.
This is what Tim said today on the Newcastle web-site:
“He always scores against them,” “It’s amazing.” “What can you say? He’s a fantastic player and his physical presence is just incredible.”
“Shola made a real difference on Sunday.” “He bullied them when he came on, and of course he scored again in the end so I’m delighted for him.”
Newcastle had Tim Krul to thank for some excellent saves during the game, and another competent performance in the Newcastle goal.
Tim congratulates Shola at final whistle
After 54 minutes, just a couple of minutes before Sessegnon was sent off for stupidly elbowing Cheick Tiote, Tim made a fantastic double save, the second one stopped the ball with his left foot as it was crossing the line, and Sunderland missed a huge chance to go two goals up.
We hope that Shola finds some of his best form in the run-in to this season, and we need Shola’s goals and physical play along with that of Senegal strikers Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse.
If Newcastle can keep scoring the goals, then the lads have every chance of finishing 6th top in the Premier League this season.
