Robin van Persie didn’t exactly cover himelf in glory in the way he behaved himself last night – or should we say misbehave himself.
Krul and van Persie – seems they don’t like each other
Van Persie had words with fellow Dutchman Tim Krul about his time wasting, and it all spilled over at the end of the game after Arsenal’s winner, and in the tunnel they also confronted each other, at the end of the game.
Arsene Wenger admitted after the game he was just happy that Robin didn’t get himself sent off, as he came across as the completely spoiled millionaire footballer, who has yet to grow up.
There’s a lot of those people in top football like that these days.
Van Persie’s verbal abuse of the Newcastle goalkeeper late in the game showed the Arsenal striker to be a clown, and he won no fans for the childish way he behaved.
He may be a great footballer, but he looked an idiot at the end of the game last night.
And apparently a number of Newcastle players were not happy with the display of petulance and bad language by the Dutch striker, who is the Arsenal captain of course, and setting a bad example for sure.
I wonder if the two will be in the same side for Holland in the summer in the European Championships – we ‘ll have to see if Van Persie complains about Tim’s time wasting in those games.
Ben Arfa again showed he can score goals and be a match winner for Newcastle last night, with his 4th goal of the campaign, and a goal he created out of nothing.
Ben Arfa talked to the local press after the game and says that van Perise is not Newcastle’s problem:
“He’s not our problem.” “We can’t waste energy on him, it must all go on those last 10 games and we concentrate on getting as many points from the 30 as we can.”
“That’s all finished, we now just have to keep our heads up high.” “There are 10 hard games ahead of us.”
“It was a good goal for me but it doesn’t make up for not getting anything out of the game.” “We are very disappointed to lose.”
“We could have taken one or three points at Arsenal.” “After going 1-0 up we conceded far too quickly, and we made it difficult for ourselves.”
“Then they scored in the last minute, but we must keep our heads up.” “There are 10 games left and we have to do the maximum to finish in a European place.”
Those are good words from the French maestro, and it’s exactly what Newcastle need to do – get over the heart-breaking defeat last night, and then go about amassing as many points as we can through the final 10 games of the season.
And Ben Arfa also explained that daft dance the Newcastle players did after Ben Arfa scored, after he had been set up by Gabby Obertan.
Ben Arfa explained:
“We did it because when Gabby is out dancing, he does it like a man who can’t walk.: “We were having some fun with him.”
I know exactly how Gabby must feel when he’s on the dance floor, and I remember my days at the Majestic in Newcastle in the early and mid 1960s.
I did the Twist and managed not to move at all – most of the time – and that was very cool in those days, or so I thought. 😀
Oh well – at least Gabby knows what he’s doing on the football field, although he looked a little lost at times in the unaccustomed position he played in the center of the field last night.
And we think Ben Arfa could well be a match winner for Newcastle in some of the vital games ahead.
The lads have to forget about last night, and we still have 30 points to play for.
Go for it!

Comment #8My thoughts on the game last night:
Krul – excellent as always. not alot he could have done with the goals to be fair to him. Nice to see him confident enough not to be intimidated by RVP.
Colo and Willo – Not bad from either of them really. Willo obviously got turned for the goal but far more experienced and expensive centre backs have had that happen to them when they try and get tight to RVP.
Simmo – One of his better games in my opinion. He got caught high up the pitch for the goal (which was a bit niave of him) but he looked more assured on the ball than he often does. Some important tackles and yet another goal line clearance from that back post!
Santon/Perch – Santon clearly struggled and was inexperienced when trying to win headers against Sagna by the half way line. It cost him in a positional sense everytime he was out-jumped! Perch was brilliant i thought. Looked composed on the ball and solid in the tackle. Fair play to the lad!
Cabs – Poor performance by his standard. He should be the one making us tick and making us play football on the deck. He gave the ball away far too often. Guthrie would have probably played better on the night, but Pardew wasn’t to know that before the game! Hindsight is a wonderful thing!
Tiote – Solid and stong as hell in everything he did. His quality was lacking at times but not to the degree of Cabs. We could have done with him being on the pitch in those dying minutes.
Benny/Ober – Both worked hard to close the ball down and were consumed with those tasks alot of the evening which took away from their ability to do damage going the other way. HBA has earnt another start in the next game. Ober seems to have no football brain for alot of the match – esp when he’s running with the ball.
Ba/Shola – both did superb in the doing the less glamorous stuff like holding the ball up and winning flick ons etc. Ba worked his socks off. Shola always looks alot better from the bench and looks as strong as Drogba at times! Shame he’s never had his goal scoring ability 🙂

Comment #14Obertan did look a bit more comfortable along with HBA yesterday.
I expect the same exact starting line up against Norwich.
HBA linked up well with Ba too.
Ofc, everything was off when the 2nd half started, but first half was a good display.

Comment #17Well said ben arfa. On last nights performance we should be able to turn norwich over at home with few worries. If we’ve just raced a ferrari, than norwich are a skoda. No disrespect to norwich as they’re doing well, but arsenal were at full peg last night. Would of been amazing to get that point, and I can’t help but feel if tiote was still on the pitch they wouldn’t of got that winner. C’est la vie

Comment #201. Cabaye had ANOTHER crap game….if he hadnt had a good start ti the season then based on his recent performances he would be benched for Guthrie. In 2012 Guthrie has played a lot better than Cabaye.
2.Obertan again is clueless, people who play in “the hole” are upposed to have good control, vision and ability as a playmaker. Obertan has none of those sadly, only HBA could play that role i ur current squad.
3.The winning goal comes down to Simmo. Watch it again, he had the throw in, Shola is showing for it to use his strength and take it into the corner but he holds onto the ball and then throws it straight to them and 10 seconds later they score. If he had just thrown it to Shola then it would have ended 1-1.
4.Tiote/Colo/HBA/Perch/Ba to a certian extent all played well, also Shola when he came on.
5. May be harsh but Willo costs us another goal, poor defending allowing RVP to turn him too easily, twice in 2 weeks…………….

Comment #21If Simpson signs a contract it would be a backward step.
He is shite! Once again it comes down to the summer as to whether we kick on or drop back.
Keeping the likes of Simmo,Willo and perch would be the wrong thing to do.
We need investment as we have carried the poor players all season and now our good players are tired and looking poor.
We need depth and quality or we will be a Bolton next year.

Comment #22Quite a few have said that Cisse has done nothing, but to be fair, we have played poorly in just about every game he has played in. But he has scored 2 in 4 (only 3 of those starts)
For me, Demba needs a rest, how about starting Cisse in the same team as HBA and see how we look? DEmba can come on after 60 minutes and torment Norwich.
10 games to go, we need 4 wins and 2 draws. We can easily do that and if we do we will finish 6th. Liverpool aren’t good enough to better us by very much in the remaining games. And to be honest, our game with them will prob be 6th place decider. I think we will beat them.

Comment #24Oh, and keeping players doesn’t make you go backwards, we need to keep Simmo, Perch, Guthrie in the squad, but hopefully buy 3 or 4 to ADD to the squad which is too small right now. Lover, Smith, off the wage bill in the Summer, but we need to increase the squad size by 3 i think.

Comment #25Dannyo @14 – I normally like your posts but can’t agree with you about Obertan – I thought he was shocking, could not control or pass the ball, only used his speed once or twice.
On topic anybody know what the problem is between RVP & Krul? because there looked to be some history there.

Comment #27I completely agree that Demba should be rested. He’s looked jaded since we got him back from Africa.
We really need to get the whole team forward when we attack, we have a woeful amount of goals from midfield.
— Cabaye (2) one freekick and one wonder strike
— Jonas (2) one wonder strike and one solo effort
— Obertan (1) one counter attack from half way
— Taylor (3) 2 freekicks, one wonder strike
— HBA, (4) pretty much all great solo efforts
And I think that’s pretty much it. My point is we generally don’t get midfielders up the field, in the box, they’re either freekicks, wonder strikes or magnificent solo efforts (HBA).
This is of course because we simply hit it up the pitch and hope Demba gets a lucky break.

Comment #29I honestly thought we were going to snatch the winner at the other end when we had that throw.
Simmo to Shola ( who played outstanding) he’d hold it up and draw in the arsenal cover and send it a cross that somebody would latch onto and score.
Very dissapointing game, Lost all respect for Van Persie too, thought he was one of the good ones in professional football, How wrong I Was!! You’d never seen Shola acting like that 🙂

Comment #30Players a would love from the summer and deals out aswell:
IN:
Pieters – £5million
Mbiwa – £5million
Hoilett – Free
Douglas – Free
Clyne – Free
OUT:
Williamson – £2million
Lovenkrands – Free
Smith – Free
Sell Simpson if he doesnt sign a new deal thats probably around £3million.. so £5million spent overall and a squad capable of challenging up the higher reaches of the league.. we need to add goals from midfield only Ben Arfa can score which is why Hoillet should be brought in on a free.. If Guthrie doesnt sign a new deal a sugest going for Niko Kranjcar

I had the Beer goggs on last night so I was a bit irate and inaccurate in my comments.
In the sober light of day:
Pardew (Although ima big fan of his)
BOTTLED IT, at half time we were in the game to a level and still looked threatening.
Although Perch did Ok when he came on, the left side was clearly targeted by Arsenal even more after his introduction. Santon got beat TWICE he was not ”torn a new one by Walcott, and on two occassions he dealt with him well.
Obertan and CABAYE gave the ball away far too easily last night, and over all were poor.
Ba was isolated in the second half terribly and the long Ball was never a threat until Shola came on, but even then we did not have the supporting runners to justify it.
Willo did his very very best but although I like him and believe he always puts a shift in, hes just not good enough for where we want to go.
Ben Arfa was exeptional in all he did bar one or two give aways, but even then he broke his back trying to win it back, hats off to him.
Jonas was poor in possesion and never looked a threat he has been poor for weeks now and should be dropped, unless hes playing as a full back which iss all he seems to do at the moment (barring v Wolves for about 10 mins).
Before i get told im being a neggar… The regular posters on here will all know and vouch that I am for the most part very positive about us and i think we have been great this season….
HOWEVER, we CAN play with the so called Top Teams. We have proved it before. We can Beat Arsenal or anyone on our day and we are a good enough FOOTBALLING TEAM to do it.
Cabaye, jonas, Obertan etc need to pull their fingers out big time and find some form particularly Cabaye, yes its his first season and I think the guy is a great player, but he and Pardew need to work out whats gone one with his game, he is too deep at times and when hes more advanced he is far better.

He did well last night but for me it has to be 4-3-3 now.
HBA has shown he will work back for the team now.
Id play this teaam V Norwich and be 100% confident of hammering them:

Comment #40A player that frankly didn’t show up last night was Cabaye, had a bit of a shocker tbh. Passess going wrong all over the place and had a very quiet night otherwise.
He’s been a bit that as of late, could be that the english league is starting to take it’s toll?
