The expected updated hospital bulletin has just been released on Bolton midfielder Fabrice Muamba.
Fabrice Muamba – in action for England U21 side
This is the joint statement issued by the hospital and Bolton Wanderers Football club:
“Fabrice Muamba remains in a critical condition in intensive care in the Heart Attack Centre at the London Chest Hospital.
“He was admitted to the hospital yesterday evening after collapsing at White Hart Lane, where he sustained a cardiac arrest during the FA Cup quarter final against Tottenham Hotspur.
“Fabrice received prolonged resuscitation at the ground and on route to the London Chest Hospital, where his heart eventually started working.
“As is normal medical practice, Fabrice remains anaesthetised in intensive care and will be for at least 24 hours. His condition continues to be closely monitored by the cardiac specialists at the hospital.”
And Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle added this statement:
“Fabrice’s family have asked me to pass on their thanks for the many, many kind messages of support from not only Bolton fans but also fans from clubs across the country and abroad.”
“All our thoughts and prayers are for Fabrice and his family at this time. The family would also like to thank the media for respecting their privacy at this time.”
It was a humbling experience to watch the event yesterday afternoon, after Muamba had fallen face first to the ground, after the 23 year-old had suffered a heart attack.
Fans saw the lad being given resuscitation, and a defibrillator was used to try to start his heart, so the fans at the game knew it was a life threatening situation, and the shock and horror on the faces of the fans and the players, told the story.
The game was being televised live around the world and here in the US it was on the Fox Soccer Channel, and this event has put everything into perspective.
Fans arrived this morning at the Bethnel Green hospital and left tributes to Muamba outside – two children left drawings they had made for the midfielder, and many flowers were left on the doorstep of the hospital.
FIFA President Sepp Blatter added this statement:
“Shocked to hear about Fabrice Muamba. My thoughts are with him and his family, his club & loved ones at this difficult time.”
We assume there will be some tributes paid to the player before today’s games, as this has completely stunned people around the world, who are praying for the 23 year-old.
We hope and pray that Fabrice can recover from this, but it’s still a very critical time, and our prayers are with him and his family.
Comments welcome.

Comment #88Most of the lads who are on this bologna weren’t here two years ago when we spent the better part of 2 months hoping, wishing, ans praying this lad would come to the toon. GEORDIE TOON ARFA I dubbed him at the time. This blot has changed so much since then. Its hard for me to comment anymore. I will always read the bologna but the comments of the newer people to this blot sicken me at times. We are bloody 6th in the league less two seasons removed from the biggest crisis in club history. We were on the brink of administration. Had been relegated with a core group of so called superstars ( overpaid over the hill no heart mercenaries) and still the toon army stuck by the club on this blog. I haven’t posted on here in almost a month due to.some of the utter shite I have read on here. Some people were calling for the sacking of the best gaffer we have had since sir Bobby Robson. Some people were bashing our players. Some were not satisfied with our current spot in the table. This sickens me. What drew me to Newcastle United in 2004 when I was fighting for my life in Baghdad was the Geordie pride and spirit. The heart and grit of the club. The history of the club. But mainly the tenacity, spirit, never say die, uncompromising loyalty, and overall brilliance of the toon army. The vast majority of the toon army is still the same but some of you negative bums need to read this and pull your heads outfall your arse and get behind our troops. I cannot listen to the utter garbage anymore that Alena pardew should be sacked, the man should get a raise and a statue. I will not listen to anymore bashing of our own players if they are playing theeir guts out for the strip. I will not listen to anymore Ashley bashing either and I have never like the man but through all his.mistakes he has learned and saved our club. I’m sure ill get blasted for this but I don’t care ive been on this Bligh for 6 years and have even had a story done on me for this blog and ill have my say. Some of you lads need to look in the mirror and fix this shite and help out for the push ti Europe. Newcastle United til death.

Comment #90Its only by bringing in more talented players young or old aboard to lift the standard up.
While continue to groom locally. That the only way that England as a country will progress.

Comment #104(4-4-2): Krul; Simpson, Williamson, Coloccini (c), Gutierrez; Ben Arfa, Guthrie, Perch, Cabaye; Ba, Cisse. #Newcastle #epl
Perch in for Tiote and Gutti in for Santon…
That’s an odd choice imo.

Comment #111Slightly confused with selection but to clarify, Jonas is LB, Cabaye is LM. Bit of a reshuffle from Alan Pardew. #NUFC
Interesting choice. Why on earth is Fergy not on that field? I don’t get it…

Comment #115That cannot possibly be right. We want Cabaye & Ben Arfa as close together as possible.
Pretty sure it’ll be Perch LB, Guti LM…
Santon out of strange… I wonder if Pardew is dropping him due to constantly neglecting his defensive duties.
If so, double standards springs to mind.

Comment #117Norwich vs Newcastle United 4-2 (10-12-2011) Just to be remond of the scoreline the other time when we meet.
Norwich is No walk-over here. They will properly bully our defends again with their headers and crosses.
We got to use our pace to attack them fast and furious.
My thoughts
Toons 2-0 or 2-1 is my call.
