    Cabaye or Colo for me.

Liverpool to play Everton or Sunderland… potentially a derby cup tie!

  • 8 Dannyo // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:11 PM

    Repost:

Vital win for us this, hopefully it’ll give us some fire in our belly altho it wasn’t a pretty one.

Lads, we’ve officially improved from last season. We’re 1 point better off than last season with 9 matches to go.
    Can’t argue that!

  • 9 Pardew's fist pump // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:12 PM

Two types of football fan – those who gain more pleasure from gloating and boasting to fellow fans about league position/trophies, than they do the actual spectacle; and those who enjoy the sport, the skill, the entertainment value, above all else – I’m the latter.

That today left me feeling empty.

  • 10 archaeomag // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:12 PM

Can’t say anybody was outstanding, everybody lost the ball at times.
I thought Guthrie worked very hard, tried some nice stuff, but just like Tiote not all of came off.

  • 11 toonking // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:13 PM

    perch for me
he is proving us wrong clearly and it was just a bad position for him at CB but we must keep him next season because he might not be a starter but he is certainly a good squad player for CDM or FB

  • 12 Dannyo // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:14 PM

    @Pardew’s fist
Odd statement, so u’d rather have 6-0 victories like last season and play unstable football so u finish 12th, or do u wanna 1-0 like today and get into Europe?

  • 13 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:14 PM

Pardew’s fist pump, and there are those who enjoy seeing their team win, regardless of “entertainment”.

You want to support a team based on guile, skill and technical ability? Go and support Barca and bugger off so you can stop harshing my buzz :D

    We’e 6th ye neggar!!! :P

  • 14 archaeomag // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:15 PM

    @toonking – well said

  • 15 Dannyo // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:16 PM

Again, we’re 1 point better off than last season, and we’ve kept 10 clean sheets as opposed to the last seasons 8 in total.

Come on lads, and u want Pardews head? Pfff. Forgetting our history once again.

agreed! We’re a side that is building towards something. Ugly victories are just as important as pretty ones

  • 19 nufc786 // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:22 PM

cabaye looked better in this game hope is dip in form has stopped now. people who think cabsy is a paul scholes your wrong! he has has potential to do better i dont thnik he has fully settled in to the bpl..

  • 20 toonking // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:23 PM

playing football like we did today i would acceptable most times, but not when you have defenders like simpson and willo in your team because we have seen games we are ahead, lost alot already with them two in the team. so only 1 goal is not good enough for me until we can change this problem.

  • 21 Dannyo // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:24 PM

Suarez went off injured today, hopefully good news for us.

  • 22 murvar // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:24 PM

I suppose if you’re only 12 you have no sense of perspective on the Toon. We are doing really well and improving year on year. It’s hard to go from the Championship and become a top Premier League side in a couple of season – unless you buy it. WE couldn’t afford to do that and maybe no-one will be able to do it in future. So be cheerful. I can’t stand the owner – or SJP being belittled – but he has a plan, and it’s working.

  • 23 nufc786 // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:25 PM

perchy played well. i think he could cormfmtably start against the teams start at the bottom of the table. and may be 1 or 2 at the the bottom of the toop of the table but cheik is a must for every game chuffed with perchys performance today plyed his heart out

  • 24 toonking // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:28 PM

    murvar
that is rubbish we had 10 million in january so why should we spend that on another striker when we had ba plus HBA- who can play there when we were so short in defence and saw from norwich are no one else is any good.
you are the one who should grow up.
if i wanted to get lots of good player i would support manure

  • 25 nufc786 // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:29 PM

just imagine next season when our players have fully gelled together i hope. look at liverfool spend 100 mill and their squad took ages to gel we got our new signings and yet me might have not gelled even yet but we are getting results just like man u. cisse is going to be worrying next season for the opposition he hasnt settled in the bpl and he is continuing his goal scoring prowess 3 goals in 5apps keep em coming cisse

  • 26 GeordieToon89 // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:32 PM

Perch by a mile.. Cabaye was sh*te again.. im struggling to find reasons as to why he should be in the team when Tiotes back.. Guthrie even looks a better player at the moment

  • 27 Dannyo // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:32 PM

    @nufc786
There’s clear things to improve on in our team today.
Those who’s watched West Ham and Southampton under APs tenure say they played good attractive football.
And u can clearly see from Willo today, for example, the reason for some saying we play hoofball.

I will reserve my judgement on AP after yet another season. The team has several new additions in it, almost all foreign, ofc it’s gonna take time. People forget players like Collo and Enrique…

  • 28 manxpie // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:34 PM

perchy was easily mom 4 me n first half the new formation worked well, great goal by wor cisse. second half they changed it n were on top so we changed it n eventually started created chances again, but a wins a win n its took the pressure off that the lower teams were puttin on us. But wat i cant understand is sum of u’s expectin us 2 dominate from start to finish!? i mean have u been nufc supporters 4 long!!? :)

  • 29 toonking // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:34 PM

from who i saw of jonas today and perch last week.
i would love pardew to now drop simpson and put either santon or perch as the RB then i can see make a bigger threat out wide

  • 30 steve // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:35 PM

Good result, well done perchy. Having looked at our run-in compared with Chelsea I cant see us getting any higher than 6th. Hope and pray the 2 F.A cup finalists are in the top 4 + Liverpool.

  • 31 Dannyo // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:36 PM

    @GT89
That’s a bit harsh on the lad mate. He’s obviously struggling with the pace and physicality of things. He’ll be much better next season imo.
But u’re right, Guthrie was the better man of the two today, and for me MOTM goes to Perch, he did Tiote proud imo.

  • 32 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:37 PM

Toonking 1 goal was enough with Willo and Simmo in the team so your point is fairly moot.

And if you’re suggesting that signing Cisse was a bad move then I am afraid you are incredibly wrong.

Willo and Simmo might not be good enough to help us improve long term but at the moment they are Nufc players and as such deserve our backing. The fans who forced Simmo off Twitter are a disgrace and are a minority that are disgracing the good name of Nufc fans worldwide

We won lads so needlessly dissecting the result is pointless, just turn that unmerited frown upside down and smile like the rest of us emotionally sensible people :D

  • 33 nufc786 // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:38 PM

    Dannyo
agreed willo looked like a liabililty today was worrying to watch at times
i have faith in pards to come clean
    perch is proving everyone wrong
cabaye will be better next seson as you said The team has several new additions in it, almost all foreign, ofc it’s gonna take time. People forget players like Collo and Enrique… cabaye had a much better start to the season than both of these two i remember. cabaye is still i think trying to get used the intensity needed for the bpl all season he kept up with half of it in his 1 st season in the bpl.

  • 34 Gerrin // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:38 PM

Really think Perch has come on leaps and bounds from being the horrorshow he was last season. The move to DM has done him good and I like having a tall presence in midfield as well. JP for me.

  • 35 Dannyo // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:41 PM

    @nufc786
Cabaye is an intelligent player, those types always comes through. They can adjust themselfes, but atm, he’s kinda just chasing the ball and not doing too much with it.
    He’ll get there, 100%:

  • 36 nufc786 // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:41 PM

i dont know about simmo was a bit cuffufled about santon getting dropped i say bring one of his team mates from the italian league to help him settle here even more. He’s still young and is miles better than enrique on his 1st season and will exceed enrique in times to come

  • 37 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:42 PM

I am excited by the future and enjoying the here and now. :D

  • 38 t00ntime // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:42 PM

I must be watching a drifferent guthrie to u guys… 2nd half he was sh1te cabaye had some good passes today I think u guys expect to much

  • 39 toonking // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:43 PM

    @manxpie 28
most of us who talk sense won’t be expecting but what we do expect them to do is make a better effort at trying to score the second rather than start sitting back hoping they don’t score. if you know this league well enough you will know that most teams are scoring lots of goals this season.
A good example to look at is liverpool, the reason they are 7th this season is down to lack of goals they score each game.

  • 40 nufc786 // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:44 PM

i think cabaye likes time on the ball the extra second to think in france is not here in england when we get european football i think we will see the best of him

  • 41 Klatoon // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:44 PM

There was one point when they cleared a corner and Santon, covering on the right, picked it up and drove into the box before attempting a low driven cross…now that was a proper overlapping RB. Maybe we’ll see it on a regular basis next season when AP signs a LB :-)

  • 42 nufc786 // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:45 PM

    t00ntime
well everone sees things at a different view i suppose

  • 43 Beattie25 // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:45 PM

Why can’t evereyone agree that it was good to get 3 points, a terrible performance, something we MUST improve on, and move on instead of endlessly debating who was the shittest out of Cabaye and Guthrie.

Everyone was shite today. Moments of quality but ultimatley shite.

  • 44 Klatoon // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:51 PM

It was the best sh!tty perfomance,we really needed a win today and also got a bonus in a clean-sheet. Halted a bad run of games without a win which can dent confidence in the dressing room.

    No complaints from me

  • 47 Minato // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:53 PM

    Jonas for me.
Ball in for the goal was class and could have had a few more assists had it been for better finishing. For me has been our most consistent player all season. Worked the flanks tirelessly today.
Delighted with the fist half but as usual we just went down a few gears and tried to protect the lead. Worked today but was costly against arsenal and a few others. Overal just pleased to win.
    HWTL!!!!

  • 48 manxpie // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:55 PM

@toonking yeah we had the chances but we didn’t take them, that’s football n thats why i watch it and enjoy it but wat i’m gettin at is people expectin the perfect game, every game i just don’t get it its the same peopl every week sayin that where not good enough n sh#t like that at the end of the day we’ve already passed r total piont’s from last season n wer 6th i’m a happy bunny n i’m def not complainin.

  • 49 nufc786 // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:56 PM

so errrrrrrrrrrrrrrr i guess im going to go with some tiote banter…

  • 50 toonking // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:57 PM

    @ruddy
you can buy 5 top class forwards but they won’t be any good if the defence is so weak, teams are always built around the defence.
when you have no CB as cover then willo and colo are certain to be careful to avoid injury and is probably a good reason for the amount of hoofing that we see. this will cause a problem for the midfield because as you should have seen recently the midfield never seems to get forward much which gives the forwards a problem of scoring a goal when they have no service. so what use is another forward if you don’t get the service

  • 51 nufc786 // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:58 PM

  • 60 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Mar 18, 2012 at 7:04 PM

We needed to reinforce the strike force and we needed to reinforce the defence, Marriapa was supposed to come in as a stop gap until we got the defenders we wanted in summer time, but we were being held to ransom over the price so the board decided to wait until the summer window and make do.

Lovenkrands is leaving and Best/Shola are not good enough to push us towards Europe so of course we needed another striker. Your assertion that we did not need Cisse is frankly, in my mind, ridiculous.

Oh and our problem is not that we are conceding too many goals, it is that we are not scoring enough. Remind me again, what part of the team scores goals?

    stuart no9 // Mar 18, 2012 at 6:59 PM

lets get the positives out the way first – a win and 3 points. thats all i can think of. now the negatives, what the f//k has happened to NUFC. another shambles where no one knew what the other was doing ( pardews fault) no counter attack. we must be the slowest in the league.a decent counter can get you the odd goal when under pressure at the back – hence we lost at arsenal. watch that game again , and you will see how many times we broke to no affect ( pardews fault). The team lacked confidence- hence the mistakes. pardew always gives the impression in pre match interviews that he is never confident in getting any thing from a game. this has obviously rubbed off on the team. ( pardews fault) keeping possession ? – say no more. ( pardews fault) . willo nearly cost us the game today – dont play him, – again pardews fault. . taking an attacking midfielder off and putting a defender on, with the score at 1-0 with HALF HOUR left to play against NORWICH- luckily it was only norwich. That was the manager, now the owners. i cant remember the last time i watched a newcastle game on telly and could hear individual supporters having conversations. the times i could pick out what fans were saying, made me shake my head in disbelief , however, ashley never wants us to enjoy ourselves at games any more , so he has TOTALLY obliterated any passion we used to have, to give the away teams – and fans a psychological advantage – clever stuff. So before everyone starts moaning about the players performances, decisions come from the top. lets start by getting rid of pards, he clearly cant cut it at this level. -then get rid of the owner- we NUFC survive on passion , we have done since my dad started to go- hes 90 now. sadly these people who are making these decisions will not leave, and you will continue to slate willo- perch-guthrie anyone really, but it is not their fault these players are not up to it. the board bought them and the manager puts them on the pitch, – they only do their best, even if their best is not good enough. the reason the football is so poor is because of the decision makers- no one else.

Perch was absolutely faultless today. Superb, and was our best player by a mile. Cisse’s movement is outstanding and thought that he deserved to stay on more than Demba imo. Others might not agree but I think Demba was average, never won 1 header all day. Wasn’t a great performance, but who cares? 3 points and on we go,

  • 80 NUFC FOR SALE // Mar 18, 2012 at 7:34 PM

    Awful, Awful football yet again.

If the last 2 months had been the start of the season I would say we were in for a relegation fight.

We’re playing like we’re in a relegation battle, no confidence, nervous play, far too negative.

Pardew is to blame for this. He has ruined Cabaye lately by playing him along side Tiote.

With the players we have at our disposal we should be looking to beat teams comfortably. Instead we drop deeper and deeper throughout a game.

That was Norwich at Home today, not Man City away and they were by far the better footballing team.

This game should also spell out to all these Ben Arfa promoters why he hasn’t started more games. He just does not work hard enough for the team. He did against Arsenal but he picks and chooses when he is going to graft. No good over a season.

  • 81 NUFC FOR SALE // Mar 18, 2012 at 7:37 PM

and Pardew should be strung up for not doing his job and getting a centre half in.

Williamson wouldn’t get a game for the Dog and Duck…hes got to be one of THE worst footballers I have ever seen, absolutely no football brain at all.

I’ll be surprised if Williamson dresses himself for the game, I bet Jonas and Collicini put his cothes on for him….absolute nugget.

Perch ha really improved this season. He’s quick, closes players down early and is a very good tackler. If he builds himslef up a bit he could potentially play centre-back effectively. Cisse and Ba can’t play together, they are to similar. Shoala was good when he came on but strange that Pardew put him on the right. Ba and Cisse never won a header or held the ball up, but we continually pumped the ball from the back up to them. WHY?

stuart no9 – I think it’s Ashley’s fault but he did get us the prolific finisher we all craved and if it weren’t for his goal we wouldn’t have won today. Defenders are a must in the summer no doubt about that, and I agree that we could and should have brought more cover in January knowing Saylor would be out. But I can’t complain after the Cisse signing, that kid is going to be a legend.

Ps. I am not picking on you I swear to God lol

Perch was good, Cabaye Better and Jonas for me was the best considering he hasn’t played LB all season and he was very good going forward at times

But for last 10 minutes SHOLA was Man of the Match for holding the ball up and soaking Norwich pressure to get us over the finishing line.
