Newcastle Injury Update – Players Coming Back

Alan Pardew  gave an injury update this morning to the local Newcastle press.

Cheick Tiote – due back next Sunday

It appears that Cheick Tiote will be back for the game next Sunday afternoon at West Brom, but Ryan Taylor will still be out with his calf injury.

Alan Pardew is hoping that Ryan will be back for our next home game at St. James’ Park against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon, April Fool’s Day.

The Ivory Coast international missed the 1-0 win over Norwich City yesterday, due to a muscle strain he picked up at Arsenal,  which initially was thought  to be cramp.

Newcastle had eight first-team players out with injury yesterday,  but several players will be coming back.

This is what Alan Pardew told the local press this morning about Tiote:

“I think he will be OK for the West Brom game and we are going to need him.” “I saw West Brom on Saturday and they are a tough team.”

“I don’t think Ryan will make West Brom, but maybe Liverpool.”

And whatever the reason for Gabby Obertan not being on the bench yesterday, we assume the former Manchester United winger will be fit and available for West Brom next Sunday.

Steven Taylor, Sammy Ameobi and Peter Lovenkrands are probably out for the season with injury, but there may still be some hope that Leon Best and French U21 International Sylvain Marveaux can return before the end of the season.

If you believe Physioroom.com then Taylor, Ameobi and Lovenkrands  will not return this season, but Leon is due back in training on 1st April and Sylvain due back on 7th April.

Comments welcome.

Time to do a Danny Simpson and leave the blog.

I cannot stomach the acceptance of mediocrity anymore. We are fans and are supposed to support the team and the only way we can get better is to push forward instead of accepting hwat we have, cos let me tell you, what we have now is not what we deserve.

Our team has so much potential yet so many of you clamour for a non existent truth that we are playing well and that everything is rosey at our fair club. We deseve better and you lot have lost what defines us as a great club, passion. The passion to be over joyed when things go well, the passion to cry when things are bad, the passion to believe that our potential will be fulfilled and the passion to voice fair opinion want for something better.

I have been positive but I am no moron and see that our team is not good enough. We as fans are ripped in 2 and I shall not be a part of the blog anymore.

Enjoy your acceptance of mid table and dreamless nights.

I am off to enjoy dreams of a great future where the potential of our club is fulfilled, the passion restored and the quality of football greatly improved.

How long until that is a realit, currently it may be a very long time.

The real fans are fleeing from the stadiums only to be replaced by part time football manager wannabes with greasy fingers due to the sweat that pours out at the mention of world of warcraft.

Fcuk you all and I hope the real fans, the ones who have unyielding passion, wheter it be portrayed in negative comments in the hope of improvement or positive comments in the face of adversity can reclaim our club.

The meak shall inherit the earth, and also NUFC it seems.

It is a sad day when billy, bob, ted makees more sense than my fellow fans.

    I somewhat agree with Beattie25.

Swansea are playing some brilliant football and look to just sweep bottom half teams away with pure footballing. They are only 6 points behind us and based on how they dominate teams without giving them a chance of coming back, i’m not ruling them out of contention for the 6th spot.

Its just a matter of time before we are given a hiding again. I’m just sick of seeing our team getting utterly dominated at our home ground. Fans are paying to get into our stadium to watch the black and white strikes play football.

But all the fans get is just praying the opponent don’t put their chances away with their massive possession against us.

    The fans deserve better.

I also agree with you Beattie25. We were being dominated by a lesser team. something is very wrong with Pardews tactics. With the players we have we should dominated a team like Norwich at home. Pardew is so full of excuses. His kick and rush football is out of date and the reason why we don’t get more out of Ben Arfa.

Do one beattie ya whinging c@nt just because we are not playing amazing football you blabber on a pack of dung like that. Sorry to say but we weren’t playing very good football last season hoping for an andy caroll flick on or goal. So the slight change is better this season. We had a bit more grit and resolve last season but surely you can’t be going off on one like a big baby because we are sitting 6th playing average football not even two full seasons after promotion.. In order to reach the dreams stepping stones need to be layed. I think they are wet dreams your on about as they are a bit premature hold your horses the good times will be back, sir bobby is watching over!

You talk so much crap it’s unbelievable. Norwich had two proper chances against us yesterday and our keeper saved them relatively comfortably (albeit fantastic saves). Yet despite not playing all too well in general play, we managed to create a good 5 or 6 clear cut chances through ba, cisse, ben arfa which if we would have taken then we’d have won the game by a comfortable margin.

Get off Pard’s back and get behind the club, which includes MA, the players and all of the coaching staff, rather than being a pessimistic bunch of neanderthals.

Things i have learnt in recent games…
    Danny simpson is slow!
Mike williamson cannot control a football!
    Tim kruls kicking is shocking!
At every freekick we kick the ball to mike williamson who then heads the ball straight to the opposition goalkeeper or out of play!
Our right hand side of defence cannot keep the ball so either give it to krul or kick it long!
    Perch is a decent player!
    Demba ba looks tired!
Ben arfa has a right foot!
    Cisse is a clever striker!
Guthrie tries long balls to often and gives the ball away alot!
Teams struggle to beat us even when we arent at full strength and arent playing well!

Those fans moaning now in this post I bet are the same fans saying “Why are we looking to sign midfielders”

Maybe its because without a strong midfield its hoof ball or nothing! You lot just don’t get it! For the first time in a long LONG time we are solid at the back. The strikers we have are doing a good job, but our 2nd string midfield is poor. Demba looks tired last 2 games in norwich and arsenal because of the amount of running in midfield he is doing. In order to dominate the middle is key. So if we are targetting to sign midfielders I suggest u moaners wake up and smell the coffee.

The team is doing great with what they can. With 9 games to go we need to do what we can to try win games, qualify for europe so we can attract better players and then the exciting football will come.

Think Beattie makes a lot of Valid points, both on a footballing note and also about some folk accepting mediocre football and lucky results.

Pardew has been in charge 12 months and his squad has improved in talent however the football on the pitch has gone backwards, and continues to slide, there will come a point were position in league will go with current performance on pitch and currently that would be bottom 6, hope i am wrong but think he has stated his direction by constantly overlooking our more creative and direct players..

People now talk about Perch as doin a great job in CM, have people forgot the spurs game, he is out of his depth in that position, have a look at other teams in the league, how many have full backs playing holding rolls in midfield, the manager is clueless and has no bottle.

Shame to see you go Beattie as personnally i think your general analysis of how games go and how the season has been is pretty much spot on. Sure some people just turn up at the ground shut there eyes for 90minutes and then think 1-0 could have been worse, solid performance. Dont see the bigger picture, i.e. what journey is the manager taking us on – The same as SBR or KK or another Roader, allardyce, souness type journey, no real plan of how he wants to play.

NUFC seem to have no cohesion as they play. This should come as no surprise as few players have the same position or role each week. It also comes from AP not having come to a conclusion on what the general form of his positioning of his team will be. What is carrying the team now is a combination of grit and individual talent.
One hopes that next year things will be a little more set, and the squad moves around like a crack marching band. For now, its hold your reath and wait for the moment of brilliance.

Beattie are you for real? So if you wanna slate constantly and berate every thing about us, then you are a “real fan”???

Go and take a running jump you plum. The squad we have is average at best. Yes we have some quality players, but the squad (which is needed over the season) is too small and not good enough. Yet we are in 6th. Pardew has managed to find a way of winning games, we have lost some we should win, but we have taken 4 points from Man U this season. So there is a flip side to everything. The team we have now cannot play this free flowing game as we do not have quick, channel running wingers. We have good players in 7 from 11 positions, which is not enough just yet. We could probably be more cavalier if we had better full backs and a better CB to play with Colo, but because they are possible a slight weakness, our wingers are cautious, making quick breaks AS A TEAM almost impossible.

Add to this the fact that there are 3 or 4 of our better players looking jaded (Demba, Cabaye, Jonas to an extent) and you are up against it.

Look at our squad and decide honestly where you think it compares against others. When it comes to strength in depth, and cover for all positions, I think that the 5 above us, plus Liverpool, Fulham and Stoke probably have more strength in depth.

But are they above us? No. Will they catch us? We will see but i think no. Could any other manager in the Prem have this Newcastle squad higher than 6th in the league? No way.

For me, this Summer is important for us, we need to lose possible only 2 or 3 (Smith, Lover and maybe one ither). But we need to bring in 6. 2 CB’s, a full back, 2 wingers and a striker. Then when we have more round pegs in round holes, e can possibly change our style a bit. There is no doubt that Cisse’s movement is too good for the midfield behind him at the minute.

But really, insisting that to be a genuine fan you have to berate players and management is ludicrous. We haven’t won anything since well before I was born, and we are now challenging the top 6 ahead of schedule. We have every chance of having the best points total since SBR was our leader, already have more points than last season, and could be getting our passports out next season. How is that not progress?

Gotta say I agree with Beattie25

I know what he means and its easy to blame the fans for the negativity when it is the football on the pitch that either creates negative vibes or positive opinions.

We are not playing well enough that is clear for all to see.

Plus I don’t think he was moaning about the team this time he was moaning about the divide of the fans.

Take it from me to change a football team akes years and years and some had to wait more than 20 years for anything good to happen.

However this season has been the best possible opportunity to take a short cut that any team could possibly have due to the drop in form and quality of other teams. It han’t happened and I hope we don’t live to rue this missed opportunity.

We need to e united or we may as well call ourselves Athletic. I for one hope that the top men haven’t become complacent this season and see we have labourd in most matches to victory and hae never really looked in control other than against Man Ure and Stoke.

Clear out in the Summer and add quality and who knows.

we are 6th…5points above Liverpool (albeit a game in hand) its not luck, we deserve to be there…
Everyone on this blog will agree with you that the football has not been great…yes we all know that..but what you guys are missing is the workrate and ability to win games when we have been completely out played.. That instils a winning mentality and brings the team closer…man united have been hopeless this season (their performances have not been great) but they have only lost 3 games!!!! Why is that?
its coz they have that never say die…never give up..we must grind this out mentality.. and thats what champions are made of..
That is what pards is instilling in to our team.. Lets just carry on grinding out results..get 6th or 7th..the good football will come..give it time.. How do I knw this??
Just look at the calibre of players we are linked with…all technically gifted players.. we have a bright future ahead of us…

when we had the ball in our half norwich were up our arses and when they had the ball in theres , there was no one in sight for us. we were just playing for the 1-0 which is ridiculous . we give scumderland grief for playing like that

Has Beattie really left us? How on Earth will I ever be removed from his hate list now? It will follow for me for all of eternity now.

Couldn’t watch the game this weekend, so have to go by peoples reviews. It seems another uninspiring performance, but a well fought win. I understand fans wanting good looking football, but this “Swansea are playing great football” stuff is starting to drive me mad. Where are Swansea in the league? Where are we in the league? Do we want attractive football and finish mid table, therefore likely loosing some of the key players in out team to higher placed teams or pushing for Europe by actually getting points? Seems a no brainer for me…but that’s probably why I made Beattie’s list in the first place.

On a personal note…Beattie thanks for the memories, I hope one day, when everything is perfect at the club and you’re happy to accept the opinions of other fans that you will find it in your heart to grace us with your presence once more 🙂

Our manager genuinely wants to win. Our players do too. They try as hard as they can. When we got relegated we had some supposed superstars and down we went. Like a brick. There is as much team spirit in our camp than any other team in the Prem. As we gradually improve and add quality (doesn’t happen overnight) and also see an improvement from squad players, then we can possibly aim higher still.

I can’t believe that we are in 6th, I think pre season the optimistic fans on here felt that an improvement to top half would be great, and that 8th would be a brilliant achievement. 9 games to go and we already have more points.

Amazing really, and if we can sneak 4 or 5 more wins (i don’t give a chuff how we play) then we can celebrate a fantastic season. Big big game next. Win that and we are flting, and I think the boys can do it. I fancy us to win 2 or 3-1.

people need to realise this newcastle team is a work in transistion still! In players like Danny Simpson, Mike williamson, ryan taylor and probably danny guthrie we have good squad players that are the weak links in our starting 11! Thing is, we can’t bring in 11 new players in 1 window, it has to happen gradually! At the moment, because of simpson and williamsons defensive incapabilities its hard to play different systems other than 4-4-2 as it leaves them exposed! I have no doubt we will bring in a centre half and a full back in the summer, with a top right back we can then accomodate HBA not tracking back asmuch and with a top centre half next to colo krul will be able to pass to his back 4 and play his way out! Same as when simpson is replaced it’ll be easier to play say 4-3-3! Just need to remember, our style of play is dictated by our weakest players and its only our second season back in the top flight! Don’t know why people are expecting Miracles!

I think the problem with our play is were always trying to play Hollywood balls all the time 30 – 40 yard passes etc & a few of our players just hoof it when they get It.

If you watch Swansea they keep it simple for 90 minutes.
Nobody hoofs it or plays stupid silly 30 yard passes.
They just keep the ball for the majority of the game.

Brendan Rodgers would be a great choice for the Next Chelsea manager in my humble opinion. 😉
