HBA was todays maestro. Needs to work on his condition, gets tired after 70 minutes.
Guthrie all alone on the wing around then and no HBA in sight.

HBA is MOTM for sure because cisse may have scored two goal but they were both thanks to HBA plus HBA scored one himself

Yep, that’s the thing that leaves a slight sour taste in my mouth after this win. Gutted, it could really hurt us.
Especially against Liverpools Suarez and Bellamy.

Willo was good in the first half, but then he messes up like he did on the goal, and he’s back to scratch.
I hope Collo being out for 3 weeks hurts us too much.
My hopes for a win against Liverpool has gone down to me hoping for a draw.

I think we don’t need to worry about the liverpool game….

We may be missing collo but even if we loose we are still 5 points ahead.

We should go out and attack, use our front 3 to really get at them. Liverfool look weak at the back without Agger.

About Willo….he has solid….I don’t think all blame can be on him for the goal…he might not have got a clear call off Krul, we don’t know.

He had a good game and he can’t do anything about his lack of pace, thats not his fault

Your all forgeting Colo’s powers of recovery, lots of times he’s returned quicker than projected so here’s hoping *fingers crossed*

The medical team now have to work extra hard on Tiote this week. We’ll need him against Gerrard.

Percy may be good, but Willo just mucks it up in critical moments and comunicated poorly in the 2nd half. Shaky as hell.
Also Simmo looks like he wanted to go to bed.
    Allot of jaded players atm.
I hope Pardew is brave enough to chance it on the youngsters soon. We’ll need their hungry legs.

For me it is a tie between HBA and Cabaye. Probably give it to HBA just because he got 2 assists and a goal. But Cabaye was instrumental for us today.

    Colo injury is worrying.

I would agree with jakesome 2 posts ago. Would have taken off a striker and put Abeid on for control of the game

I’m thrilled to reach 50 points this season whatever happens after this. Definite progress and no relegation worries. That may sound unambitious but I’m very happy with steady progress over the last 2 seasons and this one so far.
As for next week, yes, for me our 2 irreplaceables are Colo and Timmy. But after a win this week and Liverpool losing to Wigan, I’d be delighted if we could scrape a draw.
Will Mr Muscle be back next week to help protect the back four?

the injury to colo does leave a big question on the formation again liverpool
should we go 4-5-1 and with tiote guthrie and cabaye in the centre to give the extra help the defense may need and it can help keep cisse fit after the cramp he got.
or should we go 4-3-3 and just put santon at LB but tell him to avoid getting too far forward.

Disagree with you about chancing it on youngsters, we need to keep as settled a team as possible for the last games.

Use fergie like he did today, thats the best way, cant throw too many in at once.

Also 3 goals from 7 shots on target is a much better record.

We countered. We moved fast. Ive been saying for weeks we need to play at a faster tempo. We did today and the benefits were evident.

Forgotton who it was slating me the other day. But I do actually know a bit about football (I coach a youth team)

Isn’t it weird how we have just beaten WBA away from home, played probably the best 45 minutes of Our season, stretched out margin to 8 points over the sewer rats and we are worried about our defence.

Fcuk it we need to go entertainers style against Liverfool. They score some we score more. It should’ve been sorted in January but we can’t do much about it now.

Best bit of the 2nd half was Willo getting knocked out by Krul but I hope it knocked sense into him. Still think he will mark Carroll out the game but Suarez and bellamy are a different story.

HWTL though, let’s dream of 5th!!!

I wouldn’t play santon LB….I think he needs to learn to be more disciplined first and also use his left foot.

Even today there were a few times where he could have cleared safely with his left but instead tried to turn and shift it onto his right. Better players will take advantage of this.

He has a big future at the club but I think it will have to be at RB unless he learns to use his left foot more.

    Bad news about Colo.

Surely a CB from the reserves should be drafted in.
I don’t fancy watching Carroll v Perch or Willo.

    @rich
Simmo, Cabaye, Jonas, all very clearly tired players.
Almost all the attacks came through fresh and little used HBA.
Fergy was on fire when he was on and did not put one foot wrong in his 15 minutes. Vuckic and Abeid, top, top youngsters, they all have something to say in this, and we’ll need em imo.
The flame is dwindling with a few of our players, it’s quite clear.
Cabaye made 1-2 run forward today.

yeh that has been our problem, the slow tempo had meant we weren’t getting into any space and it make passing the ball difficult as our players we easy to pic up.

A few players like HBA and cabaye looked back to their best today.

    @AlanPardWho
I agree, we need to go 4-3-3 against Liverpool, we can’t rely on Willo and Perch to keep it tight at the back. Atleast i wouldn’t have.
4-3-3 with HBA, Ba and Cisse up top, stick HBA slightly behind Ba and Cisse.
We need to ravage an otherwise solid Liverpool defense.
And defend ourself through giving the others pressure.

They’re too good to be counter attacked in the same manner as WBA today.

I think cabaye has his best came in months…he put a good shift in a supported the attack a lot.

I know what you mean but they didn’t look too tired I don’t think.

Too many youngsters and changes to the team wont help. We have had a fairly settled team last 2/3 games and the movement and awareness between them is showing and we are definitely improving our game.

Anyone else think that we should try Santon in at CB for his height and just tell him to head the ball clear, get the ball down to feet and play it, that way we have Perch at LB who is solid there and we have someone tall at CB? Then we could still play 4-3-3
